Thanks, everyone. We're going out to dinner tonight to celebrate early, because it's hard to have time to do things like that on a Tuesday night since we both work, etc. Especially to have time to go to The Melting Pot. It's been our anniversary tradition for several years now to go there. Yum yum. We love it. And I'm going to wear my new jewelry.

I'm sick of "the truth"
by exwitless inthe more i think about the dubs claiming they 'have the truth', the more it irritates me.
there are countless other religions who claim they 'have the truth'.
first of all, "having" "the truth" implies that the truth was either given to them or discovered by them.

And getting back to the subject:
You are sick of it because it is somebody else's truth and not your own.
Instead of accepting anyone else's truth, why not throw out all ideas and start over.
Decide for yourself what is important to you and what is not.
You will not be "sick" of your own quest. For it will be ever changing and interesting to you.
As you ponder and come to new realizations you will gain greater insight into everything! That's exactly where I'm at. I just don't agree with the idea that there is even "a truth" out there to be found. Life is what it is. I'm enjoying it every day.

OOoooh the looks people used to give me when we first started dating.
You could tell they were thinking "You sick, dirty, old man".
Yeah, and especially when I was pregnant! People would look at me, then at LDB, and back at me, like "You poor little girl. Did he do this to you?" I wanted to wear a sign announcing my age so people would stop staring. I was 23 when I was pregnant, and most people guessed at that time that I looked 14. No joke. So no wonder they stared.
Now I'm 33 and people guess that I'm about 24. It's true what they told me when I was younger: 'When you're older, you'll appreciate how young you look.'
So I guess that makes an 8 inch difference for us, and 14 for you. Does it ever get in your way?
Nope. We can do anything together just like other couples!!

Did You See Brothers Use Politics to Reach Out For M/S or Elder Positions?
by flipper inhello folks.
valid question i believe.
in the early 80's 1979 to 1985 i was a m/s and stepped down after having 3 kids bang, bang, bang in late 20's.

Our last CO needed surgery to remove certain brothers from his colon.
That's hilarious!
In our congregation, there were very strong family ties. Generally speaking, an elder's son had a free ticket to be an MS whenever he was ready, then eventually an elder. It was usually about who you were related to in our congregation.

Thanks, Kate. Your husband is only 4'11"? That's pretty rare for a man to be so vertically challenged. How tall are you, if I may ask?
(By the way, my LDB is 6'2". So we make an interesting pair!)

Nope, my birthstone is a diamond. But I like all different kinds of jewels, especially the bright colors like rubies, emeralds, sapphires, etc. These are my first real sapphires. (Honest-I don't own a ton of real jewelry. I only have a few things that are the "real deal", and they've all come from LDB. )

Dilemma - What can I offer my wife if she leaves the witnesses?
by truthseeker inthis week, my wife called me an "opposing husband" - because i stopped believing that jehovah chose the watchtower society as his sole channel on earth.. .
my wife knows about the society, it's flip-flop on doctrines, child sex abuse scandals, including the un, but none of that matters.. .
she doesn't read the litertaure, not even the bible.. .

That's a really sad situation. What can you offer her? What about what you've already offered her? Has she no loyalty to you as her husband? How sad. I'd say you shouldn't back down when it comes to those nasty conversations. You believe what you believe, and you shouldn't have to make apologies for it, just as she makes no apologies for believing what she does. Maybe you'll butt heads for awhile, but eventually she'll learn that she can't force you to let her 'win' all religious conversations.

Boy! you are feisty ex- Im guessing redhead huh?
I guess I am. But only in the sense of defending myself or what I believe to be right. In my own psychoanalysis, I believe that being very short (I'm barely 5'0") and looking very young for my age all my life has caused me to have to be "feisty" at times in order to be taken seriously. People look down on short people (pun intended) and in a way treat them like they are children or like they are less mature. So my natural defense is to be "feisty". Kinda like a chihuahua picking a fight with a doberman, huh?
By the way, how'd you know my hair is red? (sorta):
