having read posts over the last few months, i have come to the conclusion that there must be alot of 'active' jw's who still regularly attend meetings/field service etc.. don't you feel that by posting your many and varied topics, usually complaining/disagreeing with the wbts, that you are being hypocritical?

when you post your information, obtained sometimes in an questionable manner, doesn't it make you question your own underhanded actions?.

you converse with many on this forum who are disfellowshipped/dissasociated, yet if you knew who these ones were, face to face, you would not give them the time of day!

Starting to show your true colours now. Have I hit a nerve? Are you feeling a tad guilty? Maybe hypocritical? Next you'll be defending JW's! For your info, I was raised a JW, My hubby's father is local P/O, his whole family live here, and we are considered no part of their family. This is what happened when we disagreed with their beliefs. So don't tell me I don't know shit about what it is like to be a JW. Why are YOU here?

Everyone is missing the point i much rather respect a jw who stands by what he says then one who hides in the shadows.

I have a feeling that these ones who post on forums yet remain active are hedgeing there bets,if things look like going in jws favour then they can quickly aline themselves with wtbts for those of us who are true to our convictions will have to suffer.Not that for one moment do i think end of world is immintent.

I don't need any advice from active jws if your baptized and active then your all in the same boat same as jws put all apostates together

Who wants to know how your going to managed now that your magazines orders have changed

Really you should set up your own web page for disillusioned active jws then you can all winge amonst you selves.

I agree with most things ald soul said regarding the wt.

And I don't have a problem with people bringing matters to light regarding the wt. What I have a problem with is how they do it. It is as underhanded and two faced as the wt is. There are other ways of exposing the jw's for who they are. And you don't have to remain one to do it.

If all the still active ones on this forum stood up and left, maybe it may make the remaining ones think for themselves and start questioning.

How can they possibly be true to themselves, saying one thing and doing another ? If everyone worried about losing their families, then none of us would have left, and I don't need the latest gossip to convince me how wrong they are. Already came to that conclusion.

A person should stand by there convictions, and if this forum is designed to remove people from a corrupt organization, then those who choose to remain a jw because its to hard to leave are not contributing. About time they stood up and be counted. If they remain in this religion, then they themselves are part of the problem.

Why feel sympathy for these ones? I don't and if you ask me, I have little respect for them.

So to all you active jw's, don't winge about how awful it is to be a jw. Get out and live life. You never know, you may feel better.

I'm sure all the bleeding hearts will not like what I've said, on the other hand it might make others sit up and think.

Why would you want to live with the kind of people who continually judge others actions? Who are in no way flexible to the opinions of 'outsiders'? Why would you want to live a way of life that is rigid in rules and regulations, ones that you know are not right?

sf: it's nice to know that I am not the only one questioning people on this forum.

That said, it's also nice to know that many would not shun disfellowshipped/disassociated ones.

But if you were caught not shunning them, or were to be caught on this forum, how would you explain it?

Would you lie?

I don't have a problem with ones who are open to all about their feelings. I have a major problem with those I see are still going to meetings, being nice and friendly to their faces, and then bitching behind their backs. You can't have it both ways! Regardless of circumstances, it it a very two faced thing to do!

ok so apparently the gb has instutuited some kind of quota for aux pioneers for the month of april for the memorial or something.

so the pos wife came up to me yesterday and told me "every congregation needs at least 16 aux pioneers for the month of april.

Boy oh boy Winnie, you'd make a great elder. I've known brothers that were about as understanding as you. To each their own.

Firstly, I had and have no desire to be someone who judges and condemnes others, and secondly, unless you have been in a similar circumstance, you cannot begin to understand what he is going through. When your in a situation like this, you don't need understanding, you need advice and help!

I'd say he's standing up right now for what he believes in.

Speaking out on this forum is 'safe' and I wouldn't say it is standing up for what you believe in. It's anonymous. You are still hiding what you really think from other jw's, and that is a form of lying to yourself and others whichever way you look at it.

Don't you get it? People who get on this forum to complain about FS and so on are in the process of leaving the organization. People who have been raised their whole lives simply can't wake up and say, "Ok, I want to leave the org." It means learning to think in a different way, and to start understanding issues from a different perspective. Going on this forum and talking about feelings of cognitive dissonance, and talking about how the WT suddenly looks like rubbish are very important to the person who is trying to get out. One needs to start breaking the mental chains, and here is a great way to do it.

There are alot of people who, by their own admission, are on this site, complaining about meetings, jw's, etc who have no intention of leaving. As for your statement "People who have been raised their whole lives simply can't wake up and say: OK I want to leave the org", I was raised as a JW and I did exactly that. I also know others who have done the same. In our lives, it was much better to be honest about how we felt, rather than hide our true feelings. If you continue to 'liva a lie', it will eat away at you and the end result will be much worse. But if you want to procrastinate... to each their own.

There's no point in throwing away the resources of living at home simply to assuage one's ego.

That's a bit hypocritical, isn't it? You can't have your cake and eat it too!

And it has nothing to do with one's ego.

If they were loving parents, (and his sound like they are) they should respect their childrens choices, even if they themselves do not agree. There are compromises to every situation, that are suitable to all, while respecting each one's beliefs. And if not, there is always a way out of a hard situation, you just have to find it, no matter how hard it may be.

Have you been in a similar circumstance? Because if you haven't, you have no idea what does and does not need to be said!

I am not saying that I don't sympathise with his situation. It is hard to be that young and have these type of choices to make. And no, I don't know what it is like to live in the States at that age. Here in Australia we have numerous resources to help us in these situations at that age. But I do understand what it is like to have doubts and express them at that age. I did just that, and went through the works, elders meetings, arguments, the sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. But you come out of it a better person. It may seem that there is no way out while you are in the middle of it, but things do and will get better.
