  last night at the gas pump i had a verbal , emotional outburst , swearing to no one in particular - just the gas pump , until i saw 2 guys at the island down from me - so i figured i'd let it rip !

  frustration over these insanely rising gas prices finally took it's toll on even -keeled mr. flipper !

  i started my rant , wanting these guys feedback , " what is it with these #ucking gas prices ?

  Drilling in the ANWAR will do nothing, zip, zero. That why even big oil isn't pushing for it to hard.

  "If the environmentalists get out of the way, can't we just drill in ANWR?" While some folks desperately cling to the belief that oil is a renewable resource, others hold on to the equally delusional idea that tapping the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve will solve, or at least delay, this crisis. While drilling for oil in ANWR will certainly make a lot of money for the companies doing the drilling, it won't do much to help the overall situation for three reasons: Reason #1. According of the Department of Energy, drilling in ANWR will only lower oil prices by less than fifty cents; Reason #2. ANWR contains 10 billion barrels of oil - or about the amount the US consumes in a little more than a year. Reason #3. As with all oil projects, ANWR will take about 10 years to come online. Once it does, its production will peak at 875,000 barrels per day - but not till the year 2025. By then the US is projected to need a whopping 35 million barrels per day while the world is projected to need 120 million barrels per day

  Wyoming is an oil producing state and has several refineries.

  I live near, and work at one, yet this region's gas prices are the highest in Texas. This despite the panhandle having the most refineries in the state outside of the coastal plain region. Plus only having half a million people in the entire region to consume that gas that is produced.

  BTW get ready for $5 by the end of the year $6 by next summer. World oil demand is stripping out world oil production by far and it isn't project to get any better.

  Nothing fishy (I suspect you are trying to dredge up a Cheney connection), Wyoming has the lowest state gas tax in the contiguous United States:

  It also has some of the most relaxed pollution regs, which also affect the price in a downwards direction. It is a very open state that way, no speed limits in places.

  Instead of trying to find a conspiracy in everything as you seem to generally do 5GO, you would be better served to look at the facts a bit more.

  The highest speed limit is in Texas 80 MPH after Montana eliminated it's no speed limit being the only state to ever try it. Wyoming has a speed limit that is in line with most other states 65-70MPH. Also Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and Montana are similarly less polluted and lacking environmental laws. Also most places in Wyoming are hard to deliver gas and less populated. Yet gas is cheaper there than in Texas why?

  Nope, Mr Rumsfeld is wrong the republicans will be blamed for doing nothing for 6 years. Which is true that have done zip for terrorism defence in 6 years. Granted they did a lot for military defence but nothing for civilian defence. Which is hurting the neo-cons finally.

  99% of jw's have no idea whats allowed and whats banned - too complex.. so most jw's tick the i accept nothing box.

  this from an hlc member i spoke with some time back.

  just to be on the 'safe' side, ironically.. anyway imagine the number of dead jw's there would be if this was allowed to run its course.. so imho part of the hlc raison d'etre is to make sure jw's take the blood fractions they are 'allowed'.. thoughts?.

  Honestly I would have to say no. I know some HLC brothers that cringe at blood fractions and have zero problem with a no blood fraction stand even to the death.

  when i go to my threrapist's office, while waiting in the waiting room, i look for wts and awakes.

  when i find them i write on them a website either this one or silent lambs or i just write "this group is a cult" across the front of it.. one visit i found like 12 wts.

  i didn't have time to scribble a note on all of them before my therapist called me in.. well this week.

  first of all i do not want to turn this into an american bashing thread, that is not my intention at all.. i would like to hear americans opinions as to what my thirteen year old son asked me tonight.. on the way back from swimming tonight my two sons (13 and 11) and myself started talking about wars.

  my 11 year old was the first to bring it up talking about wwi & ww2.

  we had an interesting conversation about it, then the subject got onto nuclear bombs.

  Yes, I agree. Great Britain could have had that same fire power had it won the Revolutionary War. It didn't and America grew to the super power it is now. All any of the former world powers has to do to dethrone America is rise up, and takes its place among that pantheon of nations.

  How one forgets Britain is still viewed in the world as a big bad country only in deep decline. The US has just started it's decline. Also France was considered during the 60's and 70's and is still to a lesser extent especially by the American right.

  many theists believe that atheists have no morality at all.

  they argue that because atheists dont believe in the laws, limitations and boundaries that god has set up for us, there's nothing stopping them from becoming violent, lying thieving sociopaths.

  there have been many stories of people who have "found god" and changed their life, giving up drugs, repenting for past crimes.

  The believer isn't obligated to follow any specific system of morality either.

  So a christian can follow the pagan morality system. I kind of though they were mutually exclusive seeing as Pagans don't believe in Christ as their top god, and Christians burn pagans at the stake for being witches and tools of Satan. Mainly because it is immoral to not be a christian.

  The military budget (Department of Defense) is actually $517.9 billion and not as the chart states.

  The chart includes the cost of the Iraq war, which distorts the comparisons.

  Did you just say war spending is not part of the military budget?
