  Demon-possessed inanimate objects

  for years i heard stories that certain items in the home could be demon-possessed.

  i was told to be careful of items bought at garage sales because we didn't know their origin, or who or what they were used for.. did we own a ouija board before becoming a witness?

  could it be that items like these were creating misfortune?

  For years I heard stories that certain items in the home could be demon-possessed. I was told to be careful of items bought at garage sales because we didn't know their origin, or who or what they were used for.

  Did we own a Ouija board before becoming a witness? Could it be that items like these were creating misfortune? How about a candle holder that was once in a church? If we are experiencing negative things in our lives, should we do a thorough housecleaning to see if there are any suspect items? Should we then burn or destroy these suspect items?

  Ive heard many demon-related stories among the JW's. "Are you new in the faith? Is Satan trying to pull you away from Jehovah?" Never have I ever experienced any of these things first hand. Was Satan not worried and knew that I would eventually turn away from the Watchtower Society, so he didn't bother me? Personally I think it's a superstitious load of crap.

  Qualified to be elders?

  this is an issue that really bothers me.

  the elders are supposed to be looking after the well being of the congregation.

  they are supposed to be helping those in need.

  Speaking of vasectomies,

  My brother inquired as to one, and at his hall the elders said the "no priveleges" line, no matter the reason. In my hall, I inquired of an elder that had 6 kids. He told me that it depended on what reason was given for the proceedure. He told me that there would be no reprocussions in my case. So I did it.

  What possible reasons could there be for withholding congregational duties for having a vasectomy? I've heard the excuse of how it would affect the congregation if they found out. What freakin' business is it of others?

  One older respected sister actually told me to have it done because of the end being so near. She said this out of the blue. Evidently, she was telling all the other brothers as well. Some people have an OPINION and just run with it. Others, such as the elder with all the kids in my hall ironically was very balanced on the matter.

  I was mad as hell for a long time after I did some research on the WTS. That was a couple years ago, and now I do my own thing. I was in for over ten years. Long enough to still piss and moan, now that the anger has worn off.

  The kind of indoctrination we went through sticks in the mind for a while. When I first got on-line, I started a message board and attacked the WTS whenever I could. Kind of like what happened when I first became a JW- the self-righteous s.o.b. that defended the WTS without anything to back it up. Only now, I know more about the Society than most hardened JW's learned in a lifetime.

  So, I'm kinda chillin' these days. I spent most of my anger.

  i admire the jw's who seem to be not too affected by what the society teaches.

  for instance; my brother became a jw when he met his wife, who was born into the wts.

  his wife and her family, always seemed to be very gregarious people, and enjoy life very much.

  I admire the JW's who seem to be not too affected by what the Society teaches. For instance; My brother became a JW when he met his wife, who was born into the WTS. His wife and her family, always seemed to be very gregarious people, and enjoy life very much. When I was a militant JW, this bothered me. It seemed to me that they all were spiritually weak. Non held responsible positions in the cong. They did what they wanted to do.

  I felt that they should be more studious, and be more serious about the responsibilities of being a JW. They moved around a lot and seldom went out in service. They rarely talk about their religion, let alone the bible. Nothing unscriptural was done, just enjoying life like "normal" people. My brother knows that I'm at odds with the WTS now, but we don't talk about it, and I still talk to them. In fact I just spent a few days at their house to see my nephew graduate from high school. They seem to accept me knowing that I'm not an active JW and don't agree with many of their teachings. It seems to me that if I voice my opinions to them, they could be liable for associating with an "apostate". So, it's sort of a "don't ask, don't tell" situation.

  In other words, they treat their religion somewhat lightly, but don't do anything to get removed. I could't do that myself, for guilt would overcome me. Guilt for not striving to be the best JW that I could be. I admire them for their easy-going attitudes. I wish I could've been more like that. They don't let guilt bother them, evidently.

  Any comments? How were you guys as active JW's? were you militant or lax as a JW? Was guilt a driving force for you like it was for me? How did you view "lazy" JW's? Were you a lazy JW, or were you striving to put the Society first instead of your family?

  I said nothing about looking at a woman lustfully. I just want to see them naked! :) And, if the WT society is wrong about Hell, well maybe there's still room for me there. I always wanted to live in a warm climate!

  Nudity did not even enter my mind. I hate getting sand in my butt crack. However, now that I think about it, there ARE a lot of good looking sisters! And if we DO see them naked, will we find out that they've been augmenting their attributes? As for myself, I have nothing to hide!

  I remember indeed that very topic being discussed. I wonder how much land is actually inhabitable? I mean, is God going to flatten the mountains and fill in part of the oceans, or is there enough land suitable for habitation of many billions of people? How many usable acres are there on the earth right now? Are we going to be jettisoned to another planet? I've heard that discussed also.

  Jehovah will take care of it, right? It is just this kind of speculation that the WTS gets started among the rank and file. There is so much speculation among JW's that it's rediculous. I've heard everything from how everyone is going to be slaughtered, to how exactly the JW's are going to be saved, to how the massive piles of filth and carcasses are going to be cleaned up after armageddon. Are we going to use bulldozers which pollute the air, or are we going to all pitch in(more slavery) and clean it up by hand. What about the sewage? Are we going to have sewage treatment centers? What about power? Are we going back to cave man days?(woops, evolution?) I'll have to give up my motorcycles!

  Maybe, as I've also heard JW's discussing, are our minds going to be so much clearer and brighter, being near perfection, that we'll think up all kinds of alternatives to the way we do things now?

  Whew! my brain is full, can I go now?!

  i've got my own opinion on this but i'm very interested to hear from anyone who has viewpoints on what impact they think the internet is going to have on the wtbs say over the next 5 - 10 years.-solidsender

  If the society becomes more mainstream, what claim to fame will they have left? Of course over time, who knows? I believe it's true that 90% of what they taught in Russel's day has been trashed. Heck, look at what was taught just 30-40 years ago. If you want to act like someone else, just get a transfusion!

  It's hard to believe that the WTS published the articles on health and other topics that they did. There was some pretty rediculous stuff. What gets me the most is that Jesus supposedly chose the WTS for what they taught in 1918. They think the rank and file are stupid, because they continually rewrite their history. Maybe they think the r&f won't look at the older publications. Just look at what they taught back then! Yet they survive to this day.

  I think that in the future, the WTS will be hounded to death by thousands of former members and many within. The internet has made it possible for thousands of members to find out their bogus teachings and history all at once.

  I couldn't find the court transcript at WTO. Now that I think about it, it may be in Jim Penton's book, "Apocalypse Delayed". I checked it out at the library a while back and returned the book after reading it. It must be on the net somewhere though. I'll keep looking.

  it has been an experience to say the least.

  i accepted eagerly the teachings of the watchower bible and tract society over the last 7 years.

  i have been a dedicated pioneer for four of those years.
