my currently devout jw sis told me how "proud" she was of the bro's at the wtc and how they fed , and comforted all those ppl...this told at the meetings i suppose.

or was this just spin?

i think i read (was it here) that the doors of hq got locked up so outsiders could not come in..... did they really get involved" or was it enuff to make them look good?.

when I stated that "as long as they ...could stand before god" and justify themselves....

i love your use of the word "obsessed", ive noticed you often use it, thinking that it somehow discredits the validity of those that dismantle your posts. its a transparent and very unsuccessful tactic, and its common among jws.

as far as missing the point of your original post, i dont think any of us missed it. my question to you involving you standing before god was quite honestly just a way for me to make reference to your repeated use of foul language; to point out once again that you are hypocritical in your actions compared to your supposed stand as a witness. thus, the words of a known hypocrite like yourself are rendered mute when attempting to defend the name of the society that you already debase by your actions on this board. i was also pointing out that im sure your god appreciates how closely you follow his sons footsteps, and bring such glory to his great name in the process.

that is why we are counseled against token service

youve still yet to respond to the numerous posts that make an analogy between this "token service" you are counseled against, and the "token service" the society has offered to the recent disaster. i actually didnt expect you to be able to respond to that comparison, so no suprises.

first off, hatred has nothing to do with it. i hate no one in the society, and i believe hatred to be just as wrong as the societys token contributions to a national disaster.

can you really stand before god as you claim nytel? what would you say to him to explain why you didnt get your 10 hours in field service this month? maybe youd say "WHO THE FUQ CARES!!".........im assuming you use the same language when speaking with god as you do when speaking to us. after all, thats probably the language jesus would have used, and you are by definition following in his footsteps, arent you?

you are so transparent its humorous. why even bother parading yourself as a jw? do you really think the words of a known hypocrite like yourself hold any water when defending the society? like i said, its humorous to even read your retorts.

So Will This Be Your First Christmas?

funny how the prospect of christmas takes me back to my pre-dub days as a 7 year old.

christmas eve was spent making my present request list, duly guided by both my parents as to what to ask for.

once completed, the coal fire was stoked up and the precious list was allowed to be carried up the chimney where waiting elves promptly delivered my requests to santa.

great thread englishman. ive been out for 7 years now (wow, has it been that long?), and i have done the gift exchange thing at x-mas time for most of those 7 years.....but ive always been a little hesitant, and ive never gotten a tree, all the lights, and the whole nine. the truth is, up until recently (during the course of the last year), i was suffering from the "im still going to go back someday" notion, as im sure many on this board can relate to. this year im doing the tree thing for the first time with my significant other (also an exdub), and were pretty excited!

theres something about the smell of the malls during x-mas, isnt there? thats my favorite part, fighting the crowds and traffic. im one of the idiots out there that loves to go the day after thanksgiving, just to stand in long lines and wait forever at red lights. buying decorations this year will make it all the more enjoyable.......bring on the christmas songs!

as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.

since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

um yeah, youve just described the cyclical nature of the economy.

Those limits evidently have not yet been reached, but trans-national corporations will eventually run out of room for expansion, resulting in a truly fundamental crisis for the global economy

possibly, but this thread centers around a specific wager, namely that global financial collapse (and more specifically the collapse of the usd) will occur by november 1, 2001. obviously that is far from the reality that the rest of us live in, as the value of the usd has done nothing but increase in october. i guess theres still a few days left for yk though, so good luck to him!

-the nasdaq has surpassed pre-sep.11th levels
-the dow is back to pre-sep.11th levels
-the u.s.d. has gained 3% on the euro in the last 30 days......

On STUMBLING BLOCKS

just a few loose ends and random thoughts for a select group of readers who have not been completely defrauded of your faith.. on the topic of stumbling: stumbling typically involves the mistakes of others whether real or perceived.

the reason jehovah does not consider any stumbling block as a valid reason for abandoning ones faith is because a persons faith should be in jehovah and christ in the first place.

and since god most assuredly did not let his worshipper down, what a fellow believer does or does not do should have no bearing upon our personal relationship with our heavenly father.

i have a question for you, ive asked it before, and got no answer, therefore i do not expect an answer this time. (i realize there are some questions that you simply cannot answer without putting your foot in your mouth). is it reccommended by the society to spend large amounts of your free time arguing with apostates as part of the preaching work? im just wondering this, because it sounds to me like you believe you have a firm grasp on scripture. if you truly believe us to be the "apostate thinkers" spoke of in the bible, then surely you know there are many scriptures which tell you specifically to avoid us at all costs. wouldnt your time be better served trying to reach those that have not yet discovered the "truth", rather than pointless banter with those you know for a fact you will never convert/help?

it will become easier for you once you realize you are actually an apostate yourself yk.

that puts it perfect, yes. i do realize this, but i still get some humor value out of bantering with him. its unfortunate that he is under the illusion that he is a true witness.
