Just Saw StarWars Episode II

only one word is sufficient to describe this film =.

it is not religious persecution for an informed person to expose publicly a certain religion as being false, thus allowing persons to see the difference between false religion and true religion.

i saw it as well, and i have mixed feelings on it. there wasnt quite as much action as id anticipated overall (it seemed to drag at times with all the political explanations), but the action scenes were overwhelming with cinematic flare and quantity. the movie on its own was great imo, but for much of the movie it didnt have the typical "star wars" feel....almost felt more like a fantasy (lotr), or futuristic film (fifth element). the special effects were of course extremely visual.....if you saw the prequels first, youd say amazing cgi, but seeing the originals first, it almost feels like too much cgi at times. there were some VERY cheesy parts, but i suppose thats too be expected. jango fett had some great scenes, but overall i was extremely dissapointed with the villains and their lack of a scare factor (even jango fett seemed very normal, and count dookie was a big zero in my book). all in all, it was just light years away from what i was expecting, so that made it tough to judge on the first go round......i think seeing it a second time and knowing the direction its heading will be more enjoyable (and ill probably feel i was much too critical the first time). i think im a sucker for the first classic trilogy, and so far the prequels just havent felt the same.

Episode 2 KICKS A**!! (No spoilers)

just caught the midnight screening of episode ii.

yeah, i know (it was actually a mostly normal crowd, only 2 fairly cute young ladies as jedis and one darth maul showed up .

this is exactly everything episode i should have been.

i just showed the (bill bowen) cnn article to my father(active jw), and he started defending the jws before he even finished reading it.

why are they always so averse to looking at possible flaws?

its frustrating to see them constantly defending the faith, blindly.

I also showed this to my JW father and he said it sounded like "someone had an axe to grind."

this is what i mean.....a complete unwillingness to consider the possibility of fault, before even looking at the whole story. i was once a blind jw, so i understand where it comes from....but it doesnt make it any less frustrating once youre on the other side of the coin, especially when it comes to friends and family members still in. im sure this subject has been discussed and discussed again in the forum, ive just recently started experiencing it first hand, as ive been more and more vocal about my personal stance.

Bill is NOT a nice guy. He is out for revenge - for himself. Unfortunately he is using molestation as his weapon.

All of a sudden, these people with strange noms de guerre
appear, as if by miracle, to decry Silentlambs work of exposure!

exactly..........smear bill bowen all you want, its not going to change the fact that the truth is finally coming out, and there are countless abused children whos cases have been conceled. interesting that the smear campaign starts right after the news hits the mainstream media, hey? theyre certainly coming out of the woodwork now in a last ditch effort to defend their precious wt from the scrutiny.

now that hes read the entire article, he calls it "disturbing", and said he can see both sides of the article, but that usually you never get the "entire story". he then went on to tell me they discussed it at the book study the other night (the subject of child abuse), and the elder assured everyone that it is strict policy to make sure any abusers or alleged abusers are never put in a position of power in the organization (i.e., elders, servants, etc).

i just showed the (bill bowen) cnn article to my father(active jw), and he started defending the jws before he EVEN FINISHED READING IT. why are they always so averse to looking at possible flaws? its frustrating to see them constantly defending the faith, BLINDLY. ive run into the blind defense many times with a close jw friend of mine (i just emailed the article to him as well), but every time its more and more frustrating. why is it so hard for most jws to simply OPEN THEIR EYES? i still personally struggle with "is it a cult?" or isnt it from time to time.......and when you grow up a jw, there are certain beliefs you will ALWAYS struggle internally with, to some extent(they are ingrained in your mind). but things like this, seeing the jw reaction, which is instant defense with full blinders on, its just insane to me. cultish behavior is exactly what that blind faith is......unwillingness to believe there can be a fault......unwillingness to believe there is any other possibility other than "this is gods only organization". ugh.

New Book - Awakening of a Jehovah's Witness

i posted several months back about a book that i knew of that was being released in 2002. it was written by a women who was in the congregation that i grew up in.

she was an elder's wife and i grew up with her daughter who is my age.

the book has been published and released and is on bookstore shelves now.

hey stac! how have you been? ive been really bad with emails again (after we said wed keep up), so once again i havent talked to you forever. anyhow, the book sounds like a good one to check out, there are so many exjw books id like to read and just havent taken the time to do so yet. if you get time drop me a line, and ill try and do the same......take care, hope all is well for you!
