It's really funny how O'Reilly called MM a "Bush hater" after the interview was over and MM was not around to defend himself against the charge.
do you really think moore would disagree with that statement? i didnt watch the interview, just browsed this thread.......i just dont think moore would have to "defend" himself against a "charge" to which he has openly and vociferously declared himself (that being that he hates bush).

The willingness to give oneself the permission to not participate and yet actively complain or put forth opinions on what should be happening is something that diminishes our democracy.
maybe you missed the second part of my post, which i think is very relevant to this thread....ill post it again here(with some bold/italics for emphasis)......please respond if you disagree:
i know for me personally (on the political front), although i may have strong opinions on iraq, i certainly dont feel strongly enough about the republican party to spend my free time recruiting for it. i have noticed many on here feel the same way.....they may say they dont fully support the republican or democratic party, but yet they do have strong opinions on certain political subjects. thats pretty normal id say.
so, in my case, what would you expect me to be doing? i support bush on some of the major issues, but i disagree completely with some of his fundamental beliefs as well....i certainly dont support him enough to go out and recruit others to vote republican....?

I would have thought that with the vigor of opinions, involvement would be greater on the part of our posting population.
Surely more than a handful of you are involved in supporting your candidates, either local or national?
i dont find that surprising at all. the majority of the posters on this forum have very strong and vocal opinions about jehovahs witnesses, but i would guess that the majority arent out actively campaigning to pull people out of the religion.

i took the wife and kids to see i, robot with will smith last night....great movie.
my son is a real issac asimov fan.
he said asimov would have hated the movie, but that he really enjoyed it.. come to think of it, i'd be hard pressed to name a will smith movie i don't like.

ive generally been a fan of his movies as well, but i can definitely name a few will smith movies right off the top of my head that were garbage:
men in black 2 (horrible....actually turned it off 1/2 way through to end the torture)
bad boys 2 (just disgusting...unfortunately watched the whole thing, necrophilia jokes, cadaver smashing, flesh exploding onto the heros faces and all)
wild wild west (please yeru, tell me you didnt like this one)
i robot looked like one big cartoonish cg scene after another to me (was it as fakey as the commercials make it look?), from the previews, so i hadnt decided whether or not to actually see it in the theater.....i might give it a shot on a lazy sunday.

My issue with ESPN, was that they actually HAD a ratings INCREASE during Limbaugh's tenure (over the previous season), and a noted DROP after. Hmmmmmm. Seems like a smart business decision to me.
well, what i said was that if they concluded they would lose viewers by keeping rush on, it was a no-brainer of a decision. i never said their conclusions were correct. it was a risk they werent willing to take though.........ultimately it is a decision that has to be made whenever someone representing a company makes controversial remarks on a public stage. i would guess that the majority of the time businesses will cut ties before taking the risk of loss, and generally i would have to agree with that policy.

Personally, I thought that Limbaugh was out of line in his comments, but he had the right to say them. I did not find then racist, nor offensive. I do not find Whoopi's comments out of line, but I thought they were base and tasteless. I don't think she needed to be fired over them.
with all due respect, you are not running either entity. if espn concluded they would take a p.r. hit, and possibly lose viewers by keeping rush on the program, they really had no choice but to let him go....its all about the bottom line when you are running a business. the same goes for the whoopi situation. you might not agree with the decisions, but they were the right business decisions.

dave got home early on wednesday so we hustled off to the afternoon showing.
(cheaper seats).
it was amazing...................very compelling, and thought provoking.. one of the most upsetting things was towards the end when he revealed that of all 96 (not sure of that number) members of congress (senate and house) only 1 member had a child in the military, actively serving.
VOLUNTEERED to protect and serve their country, not to be lied to and sent in to combat and killed and wounded for something that was not an immediate threat. I think I'd be pretty pissed too if I found out my president risked my life and allowed teh lives of my friends to be taken over faulty information.
lets see what the military vote turns out to be this year....if the majority of the military vote goes to kerry, then we will know the above may be a valid generalization of the feelings of the enlisted. personally, i have a close friend and a family member that served in iraq (one came back late last year, the other early this year), and they are both very supportive of bush and the war. i wonder why that is, if they now know that he "lied" to them.?. or maybe they dont feel that everyone who characterized saddam as a threat that needed to be dealt with (i.e., bush, kerry, edwards, etc.) was actually "lying".?.
