In the Lamp book (1967) it states on page 6:
Before each assembly of Jehovah's Christian witnesses, at which arrangements are made for immersion of those who qualify, your congregation ovewrseer will check to ascertain whether there are any associated with the congregation who are planning to get baptised. If there are...He will also arrange to have a series of meetings with these candidates for immersion to review the information that follows under this heading "Basic teachings of the Bible." ...In preparation, it would be wise to review the questions on the following pages and read the material that is provided in answer.
In the organization book, (1972) it states on page 18:
If you are arranging to be immersed, get your affairs in order so as to be able to attend all these preliminary meetings for baptismal candidates. Review beforehand the questions provided, with their accompanying texts, looking up all scriptures cited but not quoted. Think about each question and the way the Scriptural information affects your life...Review now, the basic teachings of the Bible that follow, one at a time, and also try to express in your own words what these scriptures mean to you.
Organized book, 1983/1989:
Note to congregation elders: ...As the Bible student makes good progress, he will conform his way of life to jehovah's righteous standards and, according to his personal circumstances, attend congregation meetings regularly. In time, he may meet with two elders to determine if he qualifies to be an unbaptized publisher. If he qualifies, he may then obtain a copy of Organized to Accomplish Our Ministry. when he makes known to one of the elders his desire to be baptized, he should begin reviewing the material ...starting on page 175.
So the point made here, from 1967 to at least 1989, is that these books are not for public consumption. Not even the children or families of Jehovah's Witnesses are to have copies of this book. It isn't even on the Watchtower cd-rom. I find this very interesting and highly questionable.
I got mine from Ebay.
My public library used to have the 'Orgaization' book.

1)As for the scriptures cited, yes that's all the paragraphs are..but
one can look for themselves how out of context they are taken,2)and also just how rarely the WHOLE scripture is cited. Knocking off that last sentence can make such a difference.
3)And how the Watchtower ties unrelated scriptures together to reach a doctrinal conclusion.
4)Also, comparing all three sets of questions, it should be very interesting to see how the Watchtower has grown more and more 'controlling' and no doubt this progression will be borne out.
5)And too, I think we will find the changes in the questions to be directly related to events inside the organization, for example the release of the new Organization book in 1983, just a short period of time after the Ray Franz 'incident'..hahaha!!!

This is a terrific topic/thread!!!
A case in point: In the old org book (1972) and I posted this some time ago but as I'm sure it's on page 300 by now...
page 155:
<Wherever dissension and disunity exist, there is evidence of some unclean force working. James said that jealousy and contention are from and "earthly, animal, demonic source" and produce "disorder and every vile thing," working against what is chaste.>
Guess what was omitted in the 1983/1989 version of the book!!!
D8TA:
In a recent Watchtower that is now being circulated all over the known world, the Watchtower admits that one reason young people get disfellowshipped is becasue of lack of bible knowledge. They are basically admitting that they allow children to enter into this contractual arrangement without INFORMED consent--and then hold thm accountable for THEIR end of the contract.
Then it goes on to say that the children were to expelled/shunned and the PARENTS were to be given moral support--the PARENTS!!! You know, the ones who didn't give their children 'accurate bible knowledge and who allowed this child baptism to taek place, and then the expulsion/shunning.
That was one of the worst Watchtower studies I have ever sat through in my life. I try very hard to differentiate between the Watchtower and the Jehovah's Witness--they are NOT interchangeable--but I know the Watchtower would not have such a policy if they KNEW the JW's wouldn't GLEEFULLY folow it through.
I personally sent a copy of this to the Russian court, and I believe copies were sent to France. Keep up the good work all!!!

It's only junk to YOU becasue you're 'out' and have been out for a while. [>:(]
It won't be junk to someone about to be 'gobbled up', and who will stumble onto one of these sites years from now, after waking up one morning and wondering where the last 20 or more years have gone.
And may I remind everyone that these books are not available on the Watchtower cd-roms, or any other elctronic media ---right now!!

The 'Lamp' book (1967) questions are 33 pages, or about 16 scans.
the 'organization' book (1972) questions are 35 pages, or about 18 scans
The 'organized' book (1983, 1989) questions are 43 pages, or about 22 scans.
Any volunteers?

This person makes the comment that
'The offerings to be made to reimburse the fiscal debt might be taxed at 60% (2) again and create a vicious circle that would kill the religious freedom of Jehovah’s Witnesses in France.(1) $ 40 million'
yeah, well, the Watchtower is the one that initiated the 'worldwide preaching work' fund, this 'spirit-directed' organization <gag> <choke> obviously doesn't have spirit-directed ACCOUNTANTS!!!
>In the meantime, we have 10,000 Muscovite Christians with just one place of worship!<
That's a lie. They meet in private homes and in rented buildings, like lots of churches do. The Watchtower itself (I believe) posted photos of MEETING,--of large numbers of JW's-- being disrupted by the defrocked Catholic priest...so obviusly they are meeting SOMEWHERE.
Any organiation that whines becasue it is only worth a couple of billion dollars has no sympthy from me. Jesus died with only his UNDERWEAR, for crying out loud...

FACING THE LION: Review and Comments
by dungbeetle inalthough this is actually a book review, i thought it might better go here because it brought up issues that are especially pertinent for us here on the board in light of the bryant, long, slack, stovall and freeman (and so many many more)family tragedies.. facing the lion: review and comments.
short summary: .
facing the lion is the autobiographical account of a young girls faith and courage.

As usual, OldHippie, you are missing the point of the review. There didn't HAVE TO BE a NAZI persecution or a MALAWIAN persecution, you dipshit!!!!
In this book alone there is evidence that the Watchtower CAUSED the NAZI persecution of JW's. No one is ridiculing the JW's experiences....just the part the WATCHTOWER played in it.
Same as the fact that the Watchtower expells/shuns rape and molestation victims, since 1965 up to at least 1998.
WATCHTOWER---CHANGE OR DIE!!!!
How many rape and molestation survivors did YOU shun this WEEK OLD HIPPIE!!!!!
edited to include: the Watchtower complains about the activity of 'opposers and apostates' <gag> <choke>, but in fact it's 1) their own literature and 2) the books of these JW's that gives the most damning information.
the author of 'Facing the Lion' may have just wanted to explain the JW experience...but probably --not deliberately--she exposed the bloodguilt of the Watchtower in the deaths or 1,000 JW's.
And that blood cries out for justice---and it will come. IT WILL COME!!!

How many times do I have to say it...YOUdon'tKNOW AIN'T NO JW.
He hasn't the foggiest idea what JW's teach today. He has just enough info that I suspect he has studied and maybe even written letters to Brooklyn. That's all. A ten-year-old that reads this forum for a month can talk like he does. That's why his posts are so general in content.
I would like to make a comment on The Star's post and on YOUdon'tKNOW regarding the pedophile comment:
Of course YOUdon'tKNOW is lying about aotomatic removel of accused elders..it isn't just the Watchtower literature, it's J. R. Brown himself bragging publicly about the protection and harboring of pedophiles within the organization. I wish someone would put that man out of our misery.
Unfortuantely, the two-witness rule is for pedophiles only.
You CAN be expelled and shunned with two different witnesses to two different acts, such as for smoking. This is in the elders book on ((((KrazyKent)))'s and other sites; and also you can hear it in the elder's school audio recording on Kent's site also.
That's what makes it so bad. The Watchtower lies and says the two-witness rule is across the board. Not so---and many a Witness has been expelled/shunned with one witness or even none.
YouKNOW is lying about the removal of elders and a good case in point in Manuel Belize, a publicized case. Even after CONFESSING, no action was taken against him...I personally heard this spoken BY HIS DEFENSE ATTORNEY during the trial.

>I said though that I don't teach my own views among the brothers. <
that means you are a liar. And your father is Satan, the originator of the lie and the father of it.
So which blood factions are you saying it's okay to take or not take? THIS WEEK
