99 people out of 100, if I understand teh numbers correctly, who have 2 or more migraines per years, benefit from a regimen where they take a child's dose of Benedryl or some other antihistamine three times per week.
migraines have been linked to allergies, and oftentimes to dairy prodeucts, which the human body was NOT DESIGNED to have after age two or so.
In cultures that are not meat/dairy based, migraines are almost non-existant. Migraines appear to be indicative of an immune system that is overstressed.
While antihistamine use appears to be a good treatment, they are not considered very good for long-term use becasue they don't solve the problem. For myself tho, I am vegetarian and avoiding dairy products is not always an option, especially when stressed as in traveling. So I am usually on antihistamines thrice weekly.
If for any reason a migraine hits tho, I rely on Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine. It is the necter of the migraine god. Even if I've stupidly waited so late as to be nauseous and vomiting, I usually can get the alka-selter down, it takes about twenty minutes to work.
Once you are on some kind of regimen, the need for migraine drugs that are prescription is negated, this is best. Over the counter rememdies are much safer.
best wishes.
