not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.

its not the earliest cross discovered, but its discovery reminds us that only some 100 years after constantine legalised the early church, crosses, as church decoration were becoming common.
quote: "bulgarian archaeologists have discovered a large bronze cross during excavations in an early christian basilica in the ancient city of parthicopolis, which is located in todays southwestern town ofsandanski.the find is unique because the cross is approximately 1500-years-old it is dated back to the 5th-6th century ad but also because of its size, reports bulgarian tv channel news7.at 55 cm in length the early christian bronze cross discovered in one of the four ancient basilicas insandanski known as the bishop basilica is the largest of its kind to have ever been dug up in bulgaria.".

I saw a story bout this on TV this afternoon. Can't recall what network it was. It's amazing to hear of something like this and not a word on Canadian TV about the Australian Royal Commission.
Interesting find though.
pray for brother jackson of the governing body!.
in todays news from australia it appears that, despite his previous declination to appear when invited, justice mcclellan from the australian royal commission on child sex abuse will officially summon brother geoffrey jackson to the stand after all.. ..... the commission was due to conclude its hearings into the jehovahs witnesses on wednesday but justice mcclellan said he will now call geoffrey jackson, a senior member of the churchs governing body in new york who is currently in australia, to appear next week.. .
source.
amid all the talking about the rc, the wt is releasing a new video:.
to all bodies of elders.
re: became so beloved video and event media document type.
i read articles like this and wonder what effect it will have on the future of the internet.
will the internet stay as free as it is now or will it lessen?.
i am sure there are many on this site who have a greater knowledge of the implications of this than i do so is this anything we need to worry about?
http://www.engadget.com/2015/08/04/icann-us-transition-proposal/
There is news behind the headlines. Is this much ado about nothing? Or will governments and others take control such as the Chinese government? Maybe the internet is just too big now to control? I hope so.

nine ships carrying 759 convicts and their guards left portsmouth on may 13, 1787, and arrived at what would be the first penal colony in australia, new south wales.

These were the 'unwanted', the dregs, who had nothing good to contribute to society and deserved only to be cast away from the civilized.
Flash forward to July - 2015.
these convicts, cast out of decent society, are now heading a Royal Commission to find out if a religious organization has been acting in a indecent, immoral and unlawful manner.
I guess Karma's a bitch! LOL
At least those initial societal dregs weren't mentally diseased apostates. The US were also thought of as criminals by the Royals in Britain and it was the US that gave us the Watchtower.
recently, several threads have had some debate about logic, evidence, critical thinking and skepticism.
i wanted to write a post discussing those things, hopefully to clarify what those things are, why they are important and how to use those tools.
first, logic, at its core, is simply a method for how to reason validly, how to draw conclusions based on a premise.
ron rawson: their method seems to be draw a conclusion, then find means to support it.
That is so true. I have heard witnesses tell me about their experience learning to be witnesses. One witness told me that he said to his study conductor "If you can show it to me in the bible I'll believe it." When you start off with reasoning like that your goose is cooked. His conclusion was already formed. The bible is the truth. He was very appreciative of the witnesses setting him straight on what the bible says.
Critical thinking is important and as a part of critical thinking it's important to realize when your conclusions about something are wrong. Sometimes that's the most difficult thing for any of us to do. Proving someone wrong on something sometimes leads to all sorts of new discoveries.
so i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.
DJS:And perhaps the most dangerous thing about you is that you shroud your theorist self in a cloak of enlightenment while trying to sway others. Those exiting the Dark Tower need a lot of things - new religions and conspiracy theories aren't among them.
Well said. I wonder what it is in the JW mind that attracts them to conspiracy theories? To believe all the nonsense that you have to believe to be a witness is really astounding when you sit back and think about it. For some it's just a stage but for others like my parents who beat it to death it still astounds me. Ignorance of anything should be just a stage in ones life when I stop learning it will be because I'm dead.
In fairness to Rebel I think his/her post has elicited some interesting responses and it was a nice break from reading about the Australian Royal Commission. Maybe that was the intent of the OP. I for one believe that man landed on the moon. Remember there is no such thing as a stupid question but there are lots of stupid sources that provide answers those same questions.
so i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.
Viviane LOL Maybe your needed.
Rebel:Truth seeker my university degree, is from the university of life.
I know as one gets older you forget about being recognized for your achievements and one of your biggest achievements was escaping the belief system of that cult. There is nothing wrong with asking questions and there is no such thing a stupid question.
I am sorry for my comment I meant no disrespect.
so i was fooled by the witnesses.
