  hell

  ok, i just got back from going to the movie bridge to tarabithia.. without going into details, the movie touches on the idea of unsaved persons going to hell.. this bothers me a great deal.. i just walked out of a religion that teaches that millions are going to be destroyed for not worshipping god just the right way.. it is amazing how many people really do believe that i and my husband and my fellow pagan friends, will be burning in hell.. how does that differ from armageddon?.

  this was a key reason why i left orthodox christianity behind.

  my sister as well as so many others have lived their own personal hells here on earth, the notion that a person could believe that since they do not believe in jesus as their saviour they will burn in hell is just beyond unsettling.

  Hell is ficticious.

  It was invented to keep people following in fear.

  I find it hard to believe that former JW's would start believing in a fiery torment....I mean, i understand them changing their views about the manner in which he was put to death, the trinity, the issue of his shed blood, going to heaven instead of earthly paradise, etc, but hell? as a place of torment? logic says to me that hell isn't literal, but figurative, as many illustrations used in the Bible....

  and by the way, I think paganism is a really interesting belief and way of life.

  my daughter had a baby girl last monday.

  the baby was premature (32 weeks) and the delivery was an emergency, but both are doing okay now.

  Too Sick to come to JWD

  hey folks, been sick for the last 2 days.

  yesterday spent the whole day in bed.

  everything ached, had a headache, stuffy and runny nose, and alternating hot flashes and cold chills.

  I know that you have many friends here who love and respect you, and who appreciate everything you contribute to this board.

  I hope you feel better, take care of yourself, and hopefully you have someone there to help look after you too!

  I found that taking anagelsics to help cope with the body aches and head aches really helped, hooray for ibuprfen and acetimenophen(spelling incorrect)

  Natural remedies work great too, chicken soup, vit C, anything that helps boost your immune system,....

  i composed an instrumental song "god is love" and sent it as an mp3-file via email to a christian music publisher.

  have you ever walked on the beach and tried following another persons footprints; matching your own steps with them as exactly as possible?

  by calling ourselves christians, we have indicated our desire to do just that, to follow closely in the footsteps of christ.

  have you ever noticed though that on a crowded beach, , there were several sets of footprints, many of them may look alike.

  i have been told to study this book with a sister so that i may can be indoctrinatedadjusted according to bullshitaccurate knowledge.. i dont have this book, nor do i remember reading it, or studying it, just wanted a head's up from those of you who may have it, or know where i can read a copy of it online...any help is really appreciated.. thank you in advance!.

  Your comments were very helpful. I doubt they would even consider studying the Bible only. I'd love to discuss the book of Luke, He's my favourite.

  this book, What the Witnesses Want You to Believe What the Bible Teaches - has my family member even READ it???? I am neither illiterate, nor am I only 7 years old...Im still mad that she thought I would need to study it, as if I was completely ignorant of JW dogma.

  your comment about the Draw Close to God book hit me, because I was going to post a comment on another thread about that book being one of the only JW publications that I actually enjoyed reading.

  Once I had a dream that i was singing the US national anthem (which i like singing because its a damn good tune) at the assembly hall with everyone watching me....then I ran around looking for the kitchen because I was hungry.

  I used to have many many dreams about being at an assembly/convention and looking for a seat all by myself, or getting lost and having someone help me find my way...hmmmm, interesting...

  I was just asking since a family member is pressuring me to study it with a sister so that I may come back into their good graces again....if I do study it, then they will consider talking to me again, and having me back into their lives...bribery or blackmail, i cant tell which this is...

  i just wanted to see what this book was about.....and you guys are right, I cant stand even reading past the first page.... OK, wow, this book was written for grade 3's. I am insulted that she thinks that I have fogotten all the simplistic JW dogma that I was ever taught!

  wow...just sitting here lookin at my screen dumbfounded....she must think I'm AN IDIOT!?
