my employers' intranet website recently posted for a position located in cincinnati (which is about a 2 hour drive from columbus, where i live).. the requirements/skills listed on the posting seemed right up my alley, so i submitted my app online.
today i get an email from the hr lady asking me when i can interview.. i'm so nervous about this!
i've never lived far from home, and i'm very close with my family, to be honest they're all i've got, i don't have friends or a social circle to speak of.

they showed the gospels and stories the councils chose not to put in the bible and gave scholars perspectives as to why.

I saw the same show. There are sites all over the internet where you can download the books for free. There are 3 books of Enoch. I have the book of Thomas, and missing verses of Daniel chapter 1. There are a lot more. Interesting stuff.

the things that went on behind closed doors in kindumb halls appalls me.
i just can't even put into words the things that i have found out over the years... how horribly elders treated people, how everything was kept secret... .
it disgusts me.
There were "clicks" at the hogwash hall I went to. The home you went to for the book study depended on the click you were in. If you were too old or sickly or they thought you would tell what went on you went to the hall for your study. My bookstudy was at the PO's house. He had 4 children and had birthday parties for them that we all were invited to come to with food and presents but he said as long as it wasn't on their birthday it was OK by him to do this. I am a widow with 2 kids and he invited me and the kids to go on vacation with his family and told me that his wife and kids go to bed early and I could sneak out of my room after mine were asleep and he would show me a good time. This was said standing in his house and he had his wife show me pictures of the place we would stay on the internet and laugh about it. He often got drunk with another "brother", and they would show up at my house and I would not let them in. I didn't want drunks around the kids even if it was the PO. He sat on my front porch and talked about everyone at the hall.. Told me the confessions some made to him. Said most of the men at the hall didn't know how to be men. He had ugly names he called the crippled people who went there. He said he had enough on the other elders and the CO that they could not touch him. He was right........I am gone and he is still there.

when they walk from door to door or mingle after a meeting they appear to be models of ideal marriages.

I went back to the kingdom hall after years of being inactive. My husband had just died and I thought I should get right with God so I took my two children to the meetings. Soon 3 married men started showing my kids attention. (The fatherless boy routine,) Soon they were calling me and showing up at my house all the time by themselves. One was the P.O. of the congregation who asked me to go away with him for a weekend. His best friend was one of the men calling me too and when they found out about each other trying to see me they started argueing over who could stand up to the elders better and not run, if or when they found out what they were doing. The third one would walk me to my car after meetings and one night his wife came out and screamed at him and grabbed him by the arm and pulled him to their car. He never came back again but his wife started calling me and taking the kids out to lunch all the time. She never mentioned her husband. When the elders finally got wind of what was going on and asked me, I told them the truth, all of it. The P.O. wife said that I would never know what I did to her family. He lied to the elders about it and it became a he said, she said thing. The third man stood his ground when the elders told him he could not speak to me again. Yes he was married but his wife lived in another town and came home once a week while he was at work to see if she could catch him doing something wrong so she could divorce him witness style. The elders said they could not make his wife do right by him and he had to live this way. God would take care of it in his time. In fact there were 4 other married couples that lived seperated and could not divorce until one of them got caught cheating. The elders chose not to care about that either. Anyway when the elders tried to reprove him he said that was enough and moved out of the house and got an apartment and filed for divorce. He was disfellowshipped and 2 months after his divorce was final he found out he had leukemia and died 6 months later. What a waste of life.

what was the worst elder that you ever had to deal with?
i will post my story in a second...
I told this story when I first got here but it is a bad elder story worth telling again. My husband died in 1999 and the elder of my congeration and his wife showered attention on me and my children at the meetings. We were in the process of building a new kingdom hall and this elder asked for money to be put up for the society from the congreation. During one talk after the meeting I told them I had no money till my husbands life insurance came thru. He asked to use my money for the building project and the society would give it right back. Not long after that he came to me after a meeting and said he was taking $20,000.00 of the money to use and would have it back before the society needed it. Gave me a contract and everything. Three weeks later he came to my house drunk and made sexual advances towards me. I told other brothers at the hall what was going on and a committee was started. His wife came to my house and told me I didn't know what I had done to their family. He denied borrowing the money that was supposed to go for the building fund. I gave them the contract. They said it had nothing to do with the society and I was trying to defame God's name. Arguements broke out...another brother told them he saw him drunk too...he was told to stay out of it..more arguements...to make a long story short...I am disfellowshipped. The elder said he didn't borrow the money...his wife did behind his back and it was her debt and they filed bankruptcy. The whole time the elders were telling me if I took anyone to court God would stop me and I would die. He is still in good standing.
this is not intended to be a morbid post but because of the nature of the topic i guess it is anyway!
have you ever heard of a long time terminally ill person who could live a few years more yet seem to know that they were going to die in the next couple of days?
my grandfather called my cousin into his room a few years ago and told her that his funeral was happening before his eyes, he could see it, he died that night.. anyway, back to the original ?, have you heard of similar things?
My mother called me on the phone at work and asked me to take her to the hospital. She said she knew she was going to die that day but did not expect it to hurt. I took her to the emergency room and they did all they could do to keep her heart going but she died. They did make her comfortable so she had no pain.
In 1999 my husband died of cancer. He died at home and was on morphine so he slept most of the time. I was sitting in the room with him when he woke up and kept staring at me. I held him in my arms and we said our good byes and he died.
My father-in-law called me on the phone from the hospital.. He was in for tests...nothing serious...and asked me to forgive him for any wrong he may have done me. He said he was going to die in the hospital. That afternoon as he laid on a gurney waiting for his turn for x-rays he had a heart attack and died.
