I mean really, how many people 'stop by' a convention center just to visit a concession stand for lunch?

New Stupid Assembly Rules
by WTWizard ini have heard on this discussion board numerous rules that apply to upcoming a$$emblies.
some are designed to stop people from meeting the opposite sex; others, to make sure everyone is always ready to recruit new members into the scam.
i heard that some km inserts have been urging those whose congregation has cleaning assignments to sit in the section that they are assigned to clean.

Is is easier to fade if you are the husband or the wife?
by wings ini hope this brings up the "arrangement of submission" question to you.
as the wife of an unbeliveing husband, you submit to everything except the things that go against your service to jehovah.
as the husband of an unbeliving wife, you are kind and considerate and love her like yourself.

In my experinece if husband leave no problem there but if wife decides to leave that gives husband god-given opportunity to look for a reason to get out of that marriage and find someone else. So any woman who decides to stop being a witness better be ready to be on her own before you can say a kingdom hall.
I think women can use the excuse that a now unbelieving mate is a threat to her spirituality and get away with it. I don't think it would work as easily for a man claiming that. As long as the wife wasn't a threat, he would have no grounds to get out of his marriage. When I stopped going, a CO even told my husband that it was my right to put up a XMAS tree in my house if I wanted, attend another church and pretty much lead my life. He told him my religious decision was a separate issue from his wedding vows and did not relieve him of any responsibility in that area. It's ME that sometimes thinks he would be better off with a nice little witness wife to give him the support he misses.

You know Wings, when I look back, I think I stopped believing long before I stopped going. I just went through the motions to keep peace. It wasn't until my last teenagers stood up to their Dad and refused to go to meetings anymore that I threw in the towel. If I hadn't been raising a big family, I think I would have quit long before I did. I don't think I would have done it for so long for any other reason.
Yeah, it's been hard and our marriage has suffered, but I won't set foot back in a hall again. Not for anybody.

Just another example of someone going through the motions without much thought. Probably just a group list with no thought of who is on it. I'd just delete it and be done. If it was a targeted email just for you, then it might merit a response.

True, Sassy. I guess I was thinking in the sense of fading from the congregation by slowing down meeting attendance and no field service until finally stopping. This as opposed to being DF'd or officially DA'ing.

Very true in that the wife gets sympathy if her husband fails his headship and fades. They are often given excuses to leave the unbelieving mate. When the wife leaves, the husband failed to exercise his headship properly, as when their kids stray. Speaking from personal experience, they don't ever seem to give up on getting you back in.

If my husband had quit instead of me, it would have been much easier. When the wife is weak and fades away, it makes him look bad. That adds a whole new spin on it IMO.

I think that was one of them BB. Seems to be the right time frame. LOL, I was thinking it was just a couple of months ago. How time flies.
Thanks so much.
