I think that both beliefs can be intermingled. For example, we all learned that the Universe could not have been created with the "Bing Bang" because explosions create chaos instead of organization. But what scientific back up does the Society have to deny this theory or to say it can't be possible? I think it could have been possible because this theory points to the idea that a huge explosion materiliazed all the necessary componenets of the Universe. God could have used what came out of the explosion to start creating the stars and planets and everything else. Regarding the evolution, I don't believe in it like the extremists evolutionists do, that we evolved from fishes or reptiles, but I do believe that some species evolve to adapt to their environment.

Was the policy change to equate DA to DF because of Ray?
by teel inas ray says in the last chapter of coc, before 1981 da was quite different from df.
"persons who resigned were not treated the same as those disfellowshiped", they were not shunned for example, except when the dad person enters into politics or military.. i put it on account of humbleness that ray says he doesn't think they changed the policy just to use it against him, he probably feels he wasn't so significant as to warrant such a far-reaching change.
but it seems way too convenient that the policy change came at that exact time, too much of a coincidence.

When did the policy changed? I haven't heard of that...

Jehovah's Witness warning: "Watch out for the movie Avatar".
by Cindi_67 inthis is an email i received from my brother in law:.
after discussing with our family and several friends about the popular movie avatar, and the prevalence of "avatars" on the internet, we thought that other friends might be interested in what we found in our family worship research, tell us what you think:.
merriam-websterdictionary - avatar: the incarnation of a hindu deity (as vishnu).

Villabolo:
"An Avatar is, in the original sense of the word, an incarnation of a Hindu god. The god simply assumes a body to mingle with the humans I presume."
Your comment makes me think about angels coming down to earth and taking in human bodies. All these religions are either a copy of the "original" or have taken in teachings or influences with the teachings of God's "chosen people" the israelites. That is why I do not get so concern anymore about certain rituals and beliefs of certain religions, all come from the same place. JW's just chose to call them paganism because these practices are more marked on "pagan" religions. But if you do your research, they all come from the same place, and it is not from pagan practices, they come from "jewish" practices and beliefs .

My response to him was: "I don't have time to look for a demon on every little thing we see or hear." He replied back: The point of this email is that, if a demon (which is what an Avatar is) is the good guy and we continue to watch this type of enterntainment, in time we will not see it that bad. In fact, we could even think that spiritism is not that bad. Don't you think the Avatar looks like a demon? Your children are in a very critical age and Bible guidance will provide them with what they need to overcome this difficult time in their lives? (GAG ALERT) next: Did you know that in Xbox games, the characters are called avatars? You can be sure that a child that has grown up playing with avatars, the idea of an avatar does not bother him one bit. Did you know that when you play on the internet (with the Xbox) you can make your avatar have sexual relations with the other player's avatar? And all of this while they send erotic messages to each other... only Satan and his demos (and the people that let themselves be influenced by them) can come up with these nonsense in games that kids play. (WHAT THE F&%#?) Don't you think that a pedophile will seize the opportunity to seduce children like yours and mine? Research this information in "What young people Ask Vol. 2 page 247 under the subheading "The Dark Side". Protect your children. We know these things because the Organization provides them to us. If not, we Old people are not up to date with these things. This is not written to scare, it is written so we can be informed and know how to protect ourselves and not let ourselves be deceived. The purpose why the Society does this is not to scare, but expose the reality of the world we live in. The main purpose is to spread the Bible message, and along with this message, expose the bad things happening in this world dominated by the evil that exist primarily because of Satan and his demons. If you see the demonized images in movies today, we can't denied satanic influence. Those who come up with these movies are people, but we can't be so naive and think that those images and characters that look like demons are not influenced by Satan and his demons. He went on to mention Hellboy and Wolfman and a lot of mumbo jumbo that I am too tired to write. He finished saying I found my own demon and that when I am ready to return they will receive me with open arms.

We put the word "avatar" & " Incarnation " into our spiritual google ( Watchtower Library)
Now they call the Watchtower Library their "spiritual google". That was hilarious.

This is an email I received from my brother in law:
After discussing with our family and several friends about the popular movie “Avatar”, and the prevalence of "avatars" on the Internet, we thought that other friends might be interested in what we found in our family worship research, tell us what you think:
Merriam-Webster Dictionary - av·a·tar: the incarnation of a Hindu deity (as Vishnu)
Mankind’s Search for God p. 106 - avatar -a manifestation or an incarnation of a Hindu deity
Mankind’s Search for God p.116 - Buddha – Gautama, founder of Buddhism; Hindus view him as an incarnation (avatar) of Vishnu
Wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar : In Hinduism , Avatar or Avatara ( Devanagari ????? , Sanskrit for "descent" [in other words, from heaven to earth]) refers to a deliberate descent of a deity from heaven to earth.
Sound familiar?!?
“And the angels that did not keep their original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place he has reserved with eternal bonds under dense darkness for the judgment of the great day”. Jude 6
Similarities between the Hindu goddess Kali (left) and a character from the movie (right).
Another interesting point…the race of blue humanoids in the movie are called “Na’vi”. Upon researching, what we found on Wikipedia :
Navi - (Hebrew singular form, plural is Nevi'im) refers to a (or the) prophet in the Hebrew Bible .
This is very interesting information to know, especially since "Avatar" is one of the most popular movies in the world right now.
It’s good to keep well informed (2 Corinthians 2:11) that we may not be overreached by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his designs.
We thought this was very interesting. We put the word "avatar" & " Incarnation " into our spiritual google ( Watchtower Library) and it brings up a whole lot more interesting points from other publication.
Agape
For crying out loud how much more are these people going to try to ban? I have to clarify that this in not OFICIALLY coming from the Society, just from a group of 'SAINTS' trying to be perfect and afraid that Satan is lurking everywhere to take them out of 'JEHOVAH'S ORGANIZATION'. But I foresee that sooner or later the Society will come out with some article about this too. They will probably write Bethel about this and not too long after a Watchtower or Awake with the "warning".
I try to keep the peace, but I always end up knowing something I really did not want to know about.

According to the latest reports on how many "annointed" are left, the number has increased instead of decreasing. So, If I understand correctly, those who were annointed in 1914 and saw the events of that time and died, then those who are younger in age, overlap them giving a continuation to "the generation" Jesus spoke about. Now, instead of the number decreasing, it is increasing and some of them are as young as 50 years old. What are we to think about this? I think the rank is getting a little confused now, and I am pretty sure most of them, if asked, would not know how to explain this to a "new convert". Hell, I don't even understand it.

I just feel like crying... I'm so fed up of the hypocrisy!
by cattails ini was very disgusted with the wt study for today.. towards the end of the article it refers to matthew 15 (see quoted scripture below).
this is a beautiful passage where jesus says his followers need to be hospitable, care for sick, hungry and imprisoned brothers.. they turn it around and say that for jw's this means they need to support the "faithful and discreet slave" by going in door-to-door witnessing, making monetary contributions to support the worldwide witnessing work, and following the directions and counsel of congregation elders.. and the worst part of it all is that there were several commenters giving almost word for word answers to that effect, they didn't even seem to listen to previous comments, they just repeated mindlessly what the paragraph said... i was ready to burst.
mom knew i was about to have a fit right there and then.

Could you put the Watchtower article or the date of the Watchtower? It is hard to do research without the article. I'm sure you are right about what the article says, but it is good to have it in hand as proof and not just use hearsay when debating with someone. I am in a mission of collecting every single controversial article out there, so when someone decides to visit me and asking me why I don't go to the KH anymore I can have some backup.

The depiction of the goddess Kali is so similar to the description of the harlot in Revelation. Why the similarities when the Hindu religion, unlike
Islam, does not consider the Bible or any other sacred text? This is something to think about.
