my wife skied while pregnant, it was in the first months and it is still OK (but not recommended). It is your choice, but if you decide to do it, be extra careful.
When you are past the 4th month I would definitely say no.
hey all, we are heading off to the snow for the weekend, i havnt been in three years and are eagerly looking forward to it all, esp my kids having heaps of fun.. anyway i have pretty much decided not to ski as i have just found out im pregnant, im a pretty confident skiier i guess its the other people you have to worry about.
when i tried to look at information whether or not it was a good idea it seemed 50\50.. just wondering what would you do or if you have skiied whilst pregnant?.

i have just spent the last few days in tasmania, where i was born and raised until the age of 20. my grandmother is a jw in her 80's but let me stay at her house because "no one is going to tell her she can not speak to her own family".
i visited relatives and friends, and found that almost everyone that i grew up with are no longer jws.
it was quite eye-opening; some have become christians, some have new age beliefs, some are athiests.
I don't think I will sell them for now, they have sentimental value, plus If my parents ever question my sources I can always show them the original quotes.
these are good enough reasons. let me add that unless you need the cash, they are worth being kept. they can only go up in value (imo)
the last time i went on the field service was around the very early 90's.
i have a genuine question for any jw that are active in the door to door work still.. i lived for finding the person that wanted to debate things, i would always be the one to call on the local atheist, vicar, etc etc.
and would hammer home all that was had learnt and research myself with the wts literature of course.
i think 99% of the ppl are noninformed as always. nobody looks up info to destroy jw arguments if they arent affiliated to them.
I agree. JW's are important to themselves and to ex-jws only. most of the other people don't care, they have other things to think about. About taking doors, it seems there are still people responding, specially immigrants. most are probably apathetic, at least in the western world.
i know this comes up from time to time.
i had the link for the reexamine site bookmarked but since it is now on perpetual maintanence, i can't acces them.. thank you .
Any specific one that you need?
this is a really good one.
an elder who was serving for more than 30 years, faithfull to the organization at all means, has lost his privelage due to the wt education policy.
the reason was that he allowed his son to study at the university.
there is a letter to the elders of the local congregations from Brooklyn headquarters, that any Elder, or MS, that sends children to study looses the possition...
I have not seen such letter and seriously doubt it exists. I know that after the WT article last year (I guess it was last year) some bodies of elders wrote to the society to find out if they should take action on appointed servants that had children at the University. I am not aware of any case of elders or MS that lost privileges due to a child at the University. If the child is still under the parents responsibility and commits some serious wrongdoing then most likely the elders/MS will be removed from the assignment.
True, but removing someone goes beyond the boundary of interpretation. Society may question the grounds. When different standards are to be applied I see it more on tolerating what some do because of their "general standing" rather than being more harsh on others.Loca congregations tend to intrepret the guidelines from the society differently. It very well may be that this elder was removed because he sent his kid to college. Same circumstances in another congregation, and the body may not do a thing.
there have been many ironic watchtower quotes, things written about others that apply perfectly to themselves.
this is my favourite as it is proof that the watchtower is not directed by jehovah and not preaching truth.
true, there have been those in times past who predicted an end to the world, even announcing a specific date.
the book Life Everlasting in freedom of the sons of God is a gem. page 44 paragraph 22 and 23 beats all of them. I do not have it in English, if anyone does, please post those two paragraphs here. they are hilarious.
we all know the shit is going to hit the fan, with the release of barbera anderson`s new cd:"secrets of pedophilia in an american religion:jehovah`s witness`s in crisis".....the wbt$ is going to take a beating,so are the jehovah`s witness`s.....there are two reactions to consider..and..they are the subject of this thread................what will be the reaction of the wbt$?..and..what will be the reaction of jehovah`s witness`s?...outlaw
Not much on the part of the Dubs.
There has always been schocking things in the organization.
Wife swapping, fraud, adultery, all kinds of immorality, lying, and we could go on and on but
the excuse is that jehovah continues to cleanse the organization.
When one is brainwashed by a cult they will jump off a cliff when the order is given.
That's what my ex.. said if the GB tells her to do so.
I am with you sspo.

I love your post confession. If I think for how long I have believed in that reasoning...

good thread, thank you.
I have not read all the posts and do not know if someone mentioned it already, but there was a WT (1986?) that said the end would come before the end of the 20th century. It was then corrected in the bound volume. I must have the link to it somewhere, buried in my favourites.
interesting article in the times online.
writer josh spero seems very well primed - a change from the usual cliches about smart dress and "all our beliefs are bible-based" soundbites.. http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/visual_arts/article2251171.ece.
among the greek goddesses and assyrian altars of the british museum can be heard the growing rumble of the imminent apocalypse.
I have been on a couple of tours, arranged by the company meander: http://www.meander.co.uk/british.htm. I remember having to dress up like at the meetings, while every other visitor of the musuem was in jeans and t-shirt...
Tours looked ok, but I should probably take them now with a more open mind
I wonder why on their list there is one missing: evidence that Jerusalem was destroyed in 607bce
