  i just finished reading a long article about the young people wanting to break free of islam in australia and the problems they face in leaving their high control religion.

  the similarities between us and them is quite clear, as is how they woke up.

  I just posted on another thread an article from a Sydney paper on the Saudi funding of radical Islamist preachers in Australia. Needing oil makes politicians soft , complicit —even if Australian Muslims want out?

  l will read in the morning. Late here in Arkansas and l work tomorrow. But l will see what’s up later.

  edit: Started reading , couldn’t stop.

  Many said it was knowing Islam so well that allowed them to look at it critically.
  And they argued that regardless of their reasoning, they should be legally and socially able to opt out of a religion and to be safe from judgement and abuse.

  austria, a member of the eu since 1995, is a country of 8.8 million people with a muslim population of around 600,000 mostly turkish immigrants.

  in 2015 it passed an 'islam law' prohibiting foreign funding of religious groups and creating a duty for muslim organisations to have 'a positive fundamental view towards state and society'.. many mosques in austria have continued to receive money from turkish muslim organisations so the new right-wing government have decided to enforce the law.

  seven mosques have been identified for closure and 60 imams are to be either deported or refused visas.

  The problem of oil and Islamic extremism was the subject in a Sydney newspaper shows how governments are at cross purposes in dealing for oil and dealing with radicalism

  Will legal checks on extremist imams have to overcome big oil Saudis who have been more important than peaceful living? Oil just wants a market. The market wants oil.

  Morpheus— Perhaps in-depth data and interviews with Muslims are too time consuming to consider in answering the question..where one might find that species of Muslim ( progressive).

  This is a short video showing in part the rough equivalent of a young PIMO Muslim woman who ardently and actively looks to sustain western values in partnership with non-Muslims as well.

  I will repost the data-filled documentary made by face to face interviews with Britain’s Muslims by Trevor Philips that gives some insight into why there must be focused programs to undo this insular pattern of Islamic culture. Because there is only a minority of progressive minded Muslims they will never be able to turn the tide without the government working on the problem.

  I will sound like a broken record for saying this again:

  Trevor Phillips has been at work in the U.K. with immigration. He recognized that left alone Muslims largely do not assimilate into progressive values of western countries. He writes and speaks on this subject with practical solutions that can be implemented in local communities.

  Also—This expulsion of non- compliant imams on the basis of a reasonable law ( of three years standing!) is not outrageous. The peaceful contingent of Muslims at Finsbury Park Mosque in the UK welcomed the authorities who helped deport the radical cleric that stirred trouble for them.

  Austria bears watching lest this law be badly done but countries must keep the peace for the good of everyone. Including peaceful progressive Muslims

  Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s spokesman said the new policy was part of an “Islamophobic, racist and discriminatory wave” in Austria. “The Austrian government’s ideologically charged practices are in violation of universal legal principles, social integration policies, minority rights and the ethics of co-existence,” Ibrahim Kalin tweeted.

  As far as I can see Austria is implementing a policy that protects order. The heart of the Turkish complaint that “universal legal principles, social integration policies, minority rights and the ethics of co-existence” are being violated . This statement is gaslighting. Those are precisely the things lost in countries that host imams who isolate their communities and accept Islamist state funding

  edit: The law is three years old? They (imams)have had time to think about it.

  Really brings me to tears, freemindfade.

  His interviews are worth the time to hear. I wish l could locate one in particular that l heard on the climate toward women in the early years in the kitchens he worked in. He said the nostalgia with which he wrote of those years ignored the abuse/harassment of women then in the industry. He was regretful yet not a perpetrator.

  He took down Hilary Clinton for her hypocrisy in taking Weinstein thousands while she disavowed any knowledge of the accusations against him. He did not buy it. His girl friend was one of Weinstein’s accusers- of rape.

  Whatever wrongs he felt guilty of -he owned up to them. What a human being.

  so miss america pageant is going to remove the swimsuit and evening gown parts of their pageant because they have decided it's demeaning to women.

  i guess it will just be women in overcoats telling us they want world peace .... bravo, we all applaud, right?

  maybe we shouldn't be so quick to do so .... what is it really saying?

  Shouldn't we really be promoting the idea that women are beautiful and what's important is to treat them with respect and that it was the men who did wrong and were the only ones that had to change.

  When I read the above I realized that only the thought of loosing the bathing suit competition could have prompted that guileless remark —in view of testy conversations that have risen over male behavior toward women on this board.

  Bandicoot —I haven’t heard that Mohammed mutilated women’s genitals, if that is what you mean. Quite a long while back I read that the practice of Female Genital Mutilation is not exclusive to Muslims. I refreshed my memory on it.

  I that what you meant by Mohammed being a mutilator? So many misogynistic practices come out of the extreme patriarchy of that religion.
