  Moving Back to Chicago - Don't care

  my wife was diagnosed with ms about two years ago.

  we have been living in ohio for the last 5 years but were recently assigned to a new congregation because of the dissolving and sale of our congregation/kh.

  my wife's symptoms spiked after being relocated to our new hall back in january.

  If superior knowledge (JW epi gnosis?) quantum physics and the like is what allows one to “know” god then we are ever doomed to the rule of a priestly class.

  When l left the Organization the elders asked me if l thought l was smarter than the Bethel folk. I told them that with my common sense and the contradictions plain to see l could not believe what they wanted.

  The reflexive teaching of the Golden Rule does not even require literacy to profoundly enlighten. Pleasure and pain are not too complex. We can think about it. Moreover we can feel it.

  A natural dawn. Sex. A birth. A death . A mother’s milk. On and on.

  maybe it is too easy.

  with much amusement i read the thread on women parking lot attendants and it got me to thinking about life at home for the average jw.. i believe i am correct in thinking that anything to do with jw-ism requires a penis, except all the leg work (fs & pioneers).

  meaning the mic's, talks, etc... but yet the same guy who thinks his wife (or any other woman) is not bright enough to run the sound system for example doesn't mind his wife hauling hay, digging in the yard, managing the checkbook and other various physical jobs as well as jobs that do in fact require a brain larger than that of a gnat?.

  let's say a guy is a bit technologically challenged but he can manage the sound system at the kh ok. i imagine he feels proud that he is getting to do this great privilege?

  For me the sum of it all was to assess what was going on after the law was followed. After the children were protected.

  The earliest threads absolutely cited the callous disregard for the girls. The reports that were ignored. IGNORED.

  Law must be made and followed, enforced.

  The problems that are peculiar to these times are well covered in Trevor Philips’ essays and comments on assimilation. There is the need to frankly discuss the peculiar range of issues to do with Islam. This open discussion in public forums aside from the mosques is welcomed by that worried percentage of progressive Muslims who cannot easily leave their religion

  l asked that Anointed elder to explain the JW “peace tradition”, to replace me on the panel. Of course he refused: He would have been seated along side Christendom.

  We all know now how restricted speech really is in the Org. And what we might do is also restricted. Our palid words and deeds must wait and wait and wait for a war to break out for our neutrality to “shine”. The energy of riotous and exuberant unconditional love isn’t there.

  For a lark look at this Watchtower study from a few years ago. What other Christian religion is this hypocritical?

  The Quakers are a fairly evolved group. I can see you enjoying their non doctrinaire association.I heard that a rabbi once said “Some of my best Jews are ‘Friends’”.

  About the Catholic Workers: they go back only to 1933. They are pacifists. You apparently didn’t read the link l posted. I checked it to see if my remembrance of them matched the wiki page.

  You ask if the Workers actually refuse to fight or just talk about it? They had been a haven for active war resistance from the beginning. They are more vocal and active than JWs if fewer in number. They have helped provide a steady presence at the WHINSEC (formerly School of the Americas) , crashing nuclear missle silos, etc. they have at times risked sanctioning by the Catholic Church. They often live in community, allow for individual conscience, feed and shelter the poor, work for social justice. Live in poverty for the most part. And they are sometimes fractious as will happen when individual conscience is respected 😕. As you would know, SBF.

  The 8 million robots stand in stark contrast. In my ignorant innocence l was invited by a local Peace Panel around the time of the Second Iraq war to represent Jehovah’s Witnesses tradition of peace ( l was POMO thoroughly)

  Nathan Natas and others of this forum flagged a news article that announced the forum of local religious groups meeting to present their religious traditions. The moderator included my name. ( l didn’t receive a paper, neither had a television out in our rural home) ExJWs bombed the organizers with emails stating that no legitimate JW woman would/could represent the Organization. The mod called me in distress over what this could mean. I was absolutely bewildered. I called a well known Anointed brother to clarify my intention and was powerfully counseled as to the wrong l would be committing against the Organization should l do such a thing.

  I cancelled out much to the mutual chagrin of the panel and myself. My explanation as to “why” sounded hollow even to myself.

  Years later l discovered this forum had been the instrument of that confrontation.

  8 million robots. My desire to work for peace through this Organization was reduced to mechanically distributing old magazines and careful shunning of any other religions that worked for peace.

  Blighted religion. JWs are ones who are not free to even talk the walk .

  Slimboyfat- l appreciate that refusal to make war appealed to you about the WT. That was precisely what attracted me. I remember the Awake! that made me open the door to the door knockers that day. It was about that very thing—peace.

  But it is not so that all other Christian groups will make war. I was allied at least in spirit with the Catholic Workers movement that was/is a remarkable organization whose members were very much involved with peace activism much more strenuous than the r &f of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

  Watchtower promoted the idea that it alone stood for peace yet , by preferring instead the bloody judgements of Jehovah over Jesus teachings, they lost the opportunity to build a stronger case for universal brotherhood. The gentle letter of the young German Witness who refused conscription into Hitler’s Army( and was consequently beheaded) reflects a generosity of spirit that is not at all promoted by the Organization in recent times. This forum reflects the bitter fruits of the legalism of the Org.

  No, Slimboyfat. Lookup the Catholic Workers movement or even the Quakers as a better model for peace.

  The GB can’t promote peace because they don’t have the heart for it.

  Abaddon— you certainly are touching on areas of discussion that were covered in past threads: white men WERE exploiting girls more frequently. Yet it also was true that the culturally more misogynistic Pakistani men were the perpetrators of the crimes against white and also Hindu girls in the northern city rape gangs.

  The past conversations explored the disturbance of moderate Muslims that there was not a more vigorous application of law to help clear out radical imams, the desire to avoid the negative impact of sharia law . .

  I did not title these videos of Andrew Norfolk. And the one I linked to above l found because it is very relevant to the discussion of careful distinctions between unhealthy effects of a subset of the Muslim communities.

  The fear of acknowledging characteristics a certain religion has toward specific human rights abuses has happened in other cases:

  • The Magdalene houses of Ireland where women were shamed and had their infants removed from them for being unwed and pregnant.
  • The hierarchical structure and priestly privelege within Catholic Church that ignored the sexual predations of men who raped children over and over for years.
  • The abuse of young women in the polygamous and high control of the FLDS under Warren Jeffs.
  • I might mention that Christian law and custom has been used to deny the rights of women for centuries. ( this is an area of discussion that as a many headed hydra shows up on this forum )
  • FemaleGenital Mutilation of girls that continues within western lands.

  So now Islam has come to Western lands. The numbers of adherents is enough to haves cultural impact.

  There are wasabis and salifist imams among Islamic teachers. The government has to deal rationally with their destructive teachings. Many Muslims dread their being in their mosques.

  Tommy Robinson has become a flashpoint in Britain because the law makers and enforcers , social services, the media reporting were fearful of seeming inhospitable or even prejudiced against immigrants to note the systems and customs within some Muslim practice that are destructive of the grain of western law.. l might say that it is one thing to go against the grain but another thing entirely to break it. Tommy Robinson from the lower section of society felt and saw the gross failures of assimilation and crudely brought attention to it. His work has probably helped . It certainly has galvanized i investigation on this forum. I believe Tommy should step aside and others with as much conviction and better tactics should do the work. ( and there are people who are trying,)

  you should consider the long .. very long discussion on this topic in former threads. I myself may sound cranky at having to repeat what took time and effort to post in those places because l can see that your thrust of concern goes over that ground.

  Edit: I personally have a great aversion to the imperialist violence of the Great Western Democracies. I run afoul of posters who have another perspective on that. I despise the racist activism that has grown behind Tommy Robinson . All the world needs better understanding and action to manage our shifting struggling poor.
