Wearing those F&^%$ing neck ties was a major reason I got sick of being a JW. After I left the only time I ever wore one was at my wedding (under protest) and it was a clip-on bow tie. Nothing was more fun then sitting in a non-airconditioned KH in the middle of summer and it's 85-90 degrees slowly feeling like you could pass out any minute. I still have strangulation and heat stroke flashbacks thinking about how many hours as a kid I had to were a "noose". My mom always got mad when I referred to them as that.

It sounds alot like a lipoma which is a benign fatty tumor. I see them on alot of peoples back's but they should always be checked. A dermatologist would be able to tell just by looking at it and it doesn't always mean a biopsy either. They just get in the way and pose an aesthetic problem when they get bigger in size.

I lease space in a chiropractic clinic and alot of JW's are patients there. I think part of thier attraction to alternative medicine is that it's almost always promoted through MLM's and they use thier JW networks to try to market it "in house". I am all for safe non-chemical therapies but not when you may risk your life. If they work great but if they don't then you are behooved to have an integrative approach. Use them all but use them safely.

Worthwhile activities for new ex-jws

my abrupt cessation of meetings after reading crisis of conscience sort of left me with large amounts of time on my hands.
although i had somewhat eased myself back it normal activities relatively fast, i realized that i had close to ideal circumstances to leave the organization (i had good friends who also left at the same time, non-witness family members, i don't run into witnesses that often if i am not going into the kingdom hall, etc...) .

If you get involved with a social type hobby or passtime you will quickly make new friends. These will be true and trustworthy friends not conditional ones. Soon you will wonder how you had time for three meetings a week plus field service. Every Tues and Thurs evening when I am out in my shop working on another project I still think back twenty plus years ago that right now I would be sitting in KH. Listening to the same boring drivel and surrounded by plastic people, very few of which were happy.
Get engaged with life and set aside some selfish time for yourself. Throw out all of your neck ties!!!! I hated wearing ties and still have flashbacks of being slowly strangled for two hot hours in an non-airconditioned KH.

I always found women who make more money then I do to be intimidating. In my neck of the woods so many women evaluate and choose men by thier paychecks and perceived wealth. They divorce rate among these marriages is very high but nobody seems to be able to connect the dots. She gets a sugar daddy and he scores a trophy wife and they try to live the lie right up to the bitter end. My wife's wealthy uncle has been married three times and is now dating another woman cut from the same cloth.
When I was younger I found good looks to be intimidating. But at 42 years old I have found that after you talk with them for awhile you find out they have all the same hangups, fears, innadequacies (sp) that less attractive women have. When I see that it allows me to see past the good looks and see the person beneath.
But at this time in my life I still would be completely freaked out if I became single again and started dating. It's the stuff nightmares are made of!

Rest assured she is contemplating those questions. I left the Borg not because of the demonstrators wearing paper bags over thier heads. It was the fringe JW's that asked me questions and trusted I would not rat them out.
Clear and independant thought along with seeing people live happy successful lives outside the Borg is the single biggest threat. It's no wonder they have to label us as sinners. How else can they keep the RF away from us?
If and when a JW leaves the borg I want it to be because of thier own decision and mental clarity not me trying to pull them away. I call it the Borg Bridge since I do not shun them. Many of them knew that they had me a true friend so in a metaphorical way I was the "bridge across" for them.

Jury Duty

I was dismissed as a perspective juror by going in with a very pissy sour attitude. A friend of mine has been a paralegal for over twenty years so she gave me few points on how to get out. I am self employed so I would have lost money if I was picked to sit on a trial. A pissy attitude makes you undesirable to both sides, you could cause alot of problems.
I now have a serious enough of a back injury that I could not do it even if I wanted to. One short two sentence note from the doc is all it takes.
