I try not to since I kinda like the smell it leaves.

Car Talk
by Wordly Andre inover the past weekend i replaced the rear brake pads on my 03 mini cooper, changed out the cabin air filter, and steam cleaned the engine.
my friend came over with his 04 ford tarus he wanted me to look at some brake noise in the rear passenger side, turns out it only needed to be cleaned and adjusted.
i also fixed a dash light that was out on my 03 focus, then i noticed that my electric trunk latch is going out, guess i'm off to pick a part this weekend!

I do alot of my own mechanics and save alot money in doing so. Most of my friends would not know the difference between a radiator and a spark plug. When I was in my teens every guy I hung out with worked on thier own cars. I do not know what is happening to guys now, they seem about as helpless as puppies sometimes.
It seems if a guy swaps out a hard drive on his PC he thinks he's an engineer now. Don't even get me started on home maintenance.
Guys that my wife works with ask her mechanical questions since I have taught her alot of it and she has learned quite a bit on her own. What a sad commentary.

I am not into country music but I do miss the Highway Men. They are not just singers and songwriters but legends.

I can't speak for anyone else but where I live has the potential for a 9.0 quake with a sunami. A 9.0 may not be global armageddon but it will screw up the Pacific Northwest real bad for a long time. Most people around here either are not aware of the threat or refuse to even talk about it.
http://www.ess.washington.edu/SEIS/PNSN/HAZARDS/CASCADIA/cascadia_zone.html
And we all know that FEMA will be here in minutes and have everyone taken care without any problems. Or maybe not! Either the fear can control you or you can take control of the fear by being prepared.
Then there are the volcanoes here that could bury all the major cities and ports with a lahar (volcanic mud flow).
Those of you living in the central states have the new Madrid fault zone to be aware of also. It's 90% likely a quake will happen in the next forty years. The building are older and not subject to quake resistant codes as are the west coast ones.

Why not just make a still.
I have two of them but they put a huge drain on the generator so I got the Berkey filter. So that does free them up for other purposes.
We had a moderate quake about four years ago and this is a pic of our well water afterwards. It smelled like Yellowstone and it took five days to clear up. A Brita filter did little to clean it up so I went out and bought two distillers.

Are you trolling brent, or are you really that stupid? ;-)
Oh please enlighten me that what I drove through a couple years ago was not what I really saw! Maybe I was going too fast to notice the volcanic peaks, the gushing waterfalls and the huge forrests.
Any rondomly selected astroid has more surface features then freakin' Kansas does. Is there a particular feature or attraction that I missed that might increase my intelect in your opinion? Maybe I was asleep and missed all of it.
BTW, who pissed on your pancakes this AM?

Actually the mid-west does have some "must see" points of interest to make up for the otherwise godawful, visually devoid and empty landscape.
For instance there is the world's largest ball of twine.
Or for the more new age types, "Carhenge".

Growing a Beard.
by Priest73 inso, why is it that we (xy chromosomes) feel obligated to grow beards once we leave the org?
i've had a little 'chin' beard for about the last 8 years, but every year in november i try to grow the whole thing out... but inevitably i fail miserably.
maybe my facial follicles are still jws.

I grew a beard twice and it itched so bad I mowed it off. Right now I have a moustache and soul patch, just enough to annoy my JW family.

I am not saying the mid-west is un-appealing but when planes fly over it they black out the windows. Passengers would stare at it and go into a catatonic state and then thier breathing would slowly stop. Air trafic control is now diverting flights around it due to multiple dull scenery advisories.
