  Jehovah’s Witnesses are looking more like regular people every day. Here in contemporary London, the Jehovahs (I like to shorten their name, it’s a bit of a mouthful, isn’t it) move freely among us.

  They have migrated away from their usual environment (the doorstep or the nondescript suburban street) and they’ve abandoned their chaste, overly formal style of dress in favour of modern clothing manufactured by fashionable sports brands, high street mountaineering brands and multinational sweatshop retailers.

  i have been searching for this for ages.

  it just seemed to have fallen off the net or was down in south africa - couldn't find links or anything.

  was really weird.. the site looks clean, i miss the old site however.

  That's an understatement Fernando. If we "need to get away from it all", we vacation in Bosnia or Sarajevo, ha ha ha.

  Afrikanman, I've been a Cheetah supporter all my life but I'm seriously contemplating converting to Wiepiejoulekkading.

  i learned this past week that my wife is now awake.

  i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".

  she is furious at the arrogance of these men.. thats what happens when you get a momma angry!.

  I remember trying to wrap my head around the story at the tender age of five. Big J wants his people to worship him in the desert (god knows why). So he sends Moses to negotiate their release, but big J "hardens" Pharaoh's heart in order that he would refuse - only to punish him for saying no. And this sh%& happens TEN times! Oh and animals die, lots of animals. It all made perfect sense.

  If you throw away the Bible after life in the Watchtower, that really tells you the power of that organization.

  Vinman, if you were born around here (33°23'01.2"N 43°34'54.5"E) you would have wholeheartedly believed in the Quaran and probably be the best Muslim you could possible be. Because that's what you were taught by your parents, and their parents , and society, etc, etc.

  If you were born around here (25°19'48.1"N 74°35'28.8"E) you would have wholeheartedly believed in the the Vedas and be the best Hindu you could possible be. That's what you would have been taught (indoctrinated).

  Once you start questioning your faith and believe system, YOU START TO QUESTION EVERYTHING.

  Have a look at the stats:

  • 13,850,000 Jews (0.2%), four-fifths of which live in two countries: United States (41%) and Israel (41%).

  You believe what you were taught. Unless you prefer to think for yourself like most of us on this forum . . .
