I got the suspended message, too. I just logged into it about 3 hours ago, and now it says account suspended. I tried the old address and got the same thing.

Let's help the friends give the #3 talk
by CombattingTheCult ini thought it might be considerate to help the friends who have the #3 talk this week.
the subject is "true prophets did not always understand how and when things foretold would happen".
any modern day applications would be especially beneficial for the audience.

They're basically saying they are right because they speak for god but can make mistakes becaues they are humans.
Erander-that doesn't make sense, does it?
Yes, how did I "buy it" for over thirty years? They speak for God in the WT magazines and books, but aren't held accountable when they must change a teaching and claim "new light" becuse they are merely human. How convenient.
Q - exactly. it doesn't make sense. it is a contradiction. they basically get to break the rules when convenient to them. it isn't supposed to work that way.

I went through and read the source material for this talk. OMG...it's been a while since I last attended a meeting, and I don't know how or why I bought in to this load of hog feces!
They're basically saying they are right because they speak for god but can make mistakes becaues they are humans. That sort of thing wouldn't have flown for the "prophets" of the old testament. Why do they get away with that b.s. today? It's so sad that people actually buy into this garbage and look down on others who can't or won't stomach it.

11-yr old wants to get baptized, father objects, elders interfere
by Bonnie_Clyde inthe mother went to the elders when the dad objected to the girl getting baptized.
this prompted a visit from the elders who counselled him for wanting to hold his child back from baptism.
this girl is immature even for an 11-year old.

Good for him! I plan to do just that when my son gets to be of age. I want to make sure he knows exactly what he is getting into before he becomes part of any religion. My wife may or may not object...we've had this conversation recently. It'll be kind of like buying a new car. Wait a year or two, and if you still really want the thing, then go for it. If he still chooses to get baptised, I will not like it, but I won't stand in his way. Oh...and if the elders try to interfere, they will be shown the door. It is not their decision to make.

Questions Asked of Candidates for JW Baptism....
by almostbitten inas a non-witness, i've heard that potential candidates for baptism have to answer a series of questions.
1. what are some of these questions?
2. is this an actual form or are these questions oral (be nice!)?

Well...I see that since they went to the new Organized to Accomplish God's Will book, they changed part 2 question 20 and no longer mention Betel nut as a defilement of the flesh to avoid. Darn. Well...it was fun while it lasted.

Purple Triangle
by Wordly Andre ini was watching a documentry last week and it was about concentration camps, i was not paying much attention because i was on my computer at the same time, however they were talking about the different badges of shame that were put on the prisoners shirts.
when they got to the purple triangle it was said that, that meant the prisoner was a religious fanatics, now growing up the jw's always said that the purple triangle was for jw's, i am not saying they were not in the camps but, there were other religous groups that the members were taken by the nazi's because of their religious beliefs not just the jw's.
not too long ago i was talking to a jw about this same topic, he said the purple triangle was only for jw's and went on about the abuse and killings suffered because the nazi's targeted jw's.

Or, Andre, about .000233 or .023% by my calculator?
Talk about a self-absorbed organization.
This reminds me of the Stewart character from MadTV:
"Hey, everybody! Look what I can do!"

I know of elders that threatened judicial action for French kissing. They made it known that even MARRIED couples were banned from this "loose conduct"!!!
Out of all the ones I've read, this is the most shocking to me. And I've done most of the things listed in this topic, too.
The above is just one more reason why I don't want to be part of this crazy religion.
OK...here's one:
They can't date or marry outside their religion, but they also can't use the convention or assemblies to look for future spouses. It's no wonder the small town congregation I used to attend is 90% inbred.

My Huge Phobia of flying!! Damn the Wright Brothers!!
by Witness 007 ini was supposed to fly tommorrow but i put off booking the tickets....and now i've chickened out and will take an 11 hour train ride all night...compared to 1 hour flight.
i have butterflys in my stomach and i can't relax.
i don't trust airplanes or pilots!

I'm from the Dayton, Ohio, area, and therefore, I have to defend the Wright Brothers since they are associated with this city as well. :)
Yeah...I certainly know where you are coming from with this flying phobia thing. My own flying anxiety has been getting worse with each flight I take. I just hate that feeling of being 6 miles up in the sky in a tube of aluminum that is probably older than I am. It gives me chills just thinking about it. Yet it is supposed to be safer than the daily commute by car that I make to work and back.
