you need to give credit to the society for your education.the watchtower and awake magazines have been helping individuals receive a g.e.d .

or high school diploma.

OMG, Wanderer? Are you for real? Or is it like I said in another thread, that this is your style, your role-play, your inside joke. You play this devil's advocate and write in the style of the WT magazine. Just curious...it's a good routine you have, btw. I don't mean offense if you are serious about it, but I'm just fascinated I guess.

out of curiosity, i checked out the myjwspace site mentioned in an earlier thread to see if it was growing.

as of now, there are 64 members on the whole site, and a grand total of (all this) one post on the whole forum!

of course, without joining, there is no way to read those posts to cut and paste segments of it here to tear them apart.. they have a chat room where they claim all the people are jws, the topics are safe, and they can be themselves (as dull and preprogrammed as they can get).

Except for the fact that the society severely frowns on internet association, even among witnesses.

JWS and Ex JWS....Is the Mark of the Beast taught in the Hall?

a few jws were stunned when i pointed out revelation 13 to them, they said they have never heard such a thing about the mark of teh beast or it's effects.

im beginning to wonder if its even taught in the hall.

A-team...I was raised as a pentecostal christian until I gave up on religion and then later became a witness. Funny progression there, eh? Anyway, we used to believe in that mark of the beast thing as very literal when I was growing up. Bar code, social security number, some sort of state-issued id...and now this Real ID thing you mention. I admit I still keep one eye open to stuff like that even though I don't buy into the Revelation thing any longer. But, you know...what if it is all true?

Along the same lines, why are there so many that respond to posts but never post their own topic? What's up with that?

Some of us are more passive posters than others. By the time I read and reply to all the posts I have read, I'm too tired or spent too much time to start my own. I don't usually come to the computer with an idea in mind with which to start a thread. Maybe there are others out there just like me, I don't know.

there was a recent thread on spelling, sentence structure, etc., that was legitimate, but probably made other's feel stupid.. my question is, what is your personal pet peeve?.

i've got a problem with poor construction inside my home...i hate the trim work, some cut too short so it looks like mouse holes over the floor.

i had my kitchen redone and the layout was so unusual that i can't open a fridge door unless i pull it forward or push it back to open a drawer.

At one point, I stepped outside to check the weather, and then 15 minutes later I stepped outside to go check my mail. Well, that's when I noticed the little "We missed you" slip on the door that wasn't there 15 minutes ago. The delivery person didn't even knock on my door for some odd reason. The slip said that they would attempt re-delivery twice more and the dates were marked on the slip. I waited on both dates... but nothing ever came. I e-mailed UPS and the publication site about the incident, and UPS said that I could pick up the package at the local branch. Pick up??

Musicman, not trying to one-up you here, but a very similar thing happened to me! I had ordered a computer and had to be there to sign for it. I knew the day it was to arrive because I checked the tracking number online. I was waiting most of the day in the living room near the front door, but as soon as I went to the bedroom for a few minutes, what do you know? I heard a noise exactly like that of a UPS truck. I live on a dead end street, so we don't get a lot of traffic. By the time I got to the door (no door bell had sounded, by the way), I saw the back of a brown truck nearing the end of the street and a "we missed you" slip on the door. Grrrrr...I thought to myself "wtf," but waited till the next delivery. No one showed. The exception to your story being just like mine was that after the second delivery "attempt" came and went, I called up the area shipping center to complain, emailed UPS customer service, AND emailed the computer company.

The rep at the computer company called me on the phone and said that sometimes happens because they get behind in their deliveries and just reschedule by sticking the slip on the door and leaving. I kid you not. They had been having other problems with their shipping service as well. The regional manager from UPS called back and then the local shipping center manager called to follow up. I told them what the computer rep told me, and I demanded that the driver come back on a specific day at a specific time to deliver my computer. They repeatedly told me that they couldn't guarantee a specific time, but guess what? The driver came the day I requested and during the hour I asked for.

So, you're not alone in this, MM. Lots of people get hosed by UPS. Oh yeah, I remember now that I also told them I would never use UPS again, and I haven't.

Yeah...mostly out of habit, though. I'm learning to break that habit, though...slowly.
