  i am reviewing my notes for a psych.

  exam and am going over the syptoms of mental illness and schizophrenia in particular.

  i am noticing something that may be well known to most of you educated folks.. symptom 1. delusions of grandour(god has me on his speed dial)(miracle wheat).

  Hi everyone,
  Outnfree, I think everyone needs to feel special, (which
  many define as being important) not just JWs. We
  all are important to someone, hopely to ourselves too.
  But my problem, I think, is that I've not broken free from
  the brainwashing yet. I still hear that voice telling me that I
  am selfish for this and that, and that they are selfish for this
  and the other. Misery has resulted from this. I know we should be more forgiving and compassionate of other. I just was not taught to
  practice this in the Org. But reading about everyone else's pain and struggle has made me calm down. Although I still get panic attacks,
  I feel happy these days because I realize I'm normal and not some
  crazy, weak or retarded ex-cultee. You guys have really made a difference!

  having had a week away from home, i'm astonished at the way some posters have started to behave.

  this site seems suddenly to be full of vitriol.. now i don't pretend to be every one's favourite pussy cat, and i will always be as outspoken as i choose to be, but i do not attack people personally, i only attack what they believe if i am convinced that their beliefs are anti-social or detrimental.

  i don't attack the person propagating that belief.

  i thought this would be a good topic as many who are still sorting through the jw experience do not seem to see that their newly adopted worldview is just that, their own.

  while i can understand how some would want to just "vent", i fail to see how such behavior helps anyone.

  we all know that as jws we went along with what others told us to believe, yet it seems to me that beneath many posts of self expression, there's a subtle tendancy to be pushy, even preachy.

  I may be wrong, but I think you are misreading
  people's strong opinionated remarks as preachy.
  Even if some are pushing their philosophies, it may
  be ones some of us really need or want. Please,
  remember that even if someone shares their dogmatic views
  they don't have the power to inflict the damage that
  the Society does with disfellowshipment. So is there really any danger here.
  Live and let live. Besides I doubt that anyone who
  is breaking free or has broken free from a cult will
  readily accepted just anything.

  Realize that it is a cult and that you
  are suffering from brainwashing. I beg
  you to investigate this very carefully.

  listen closely.

  new, nowhere to turn, ashamed & afraid

  hullo everybody i'm new here, even though i've been lurking now for several months.. i have to say how afraid i am to post, afraid and ashamed but i feel if i dont tell my story, i honestly dont know what may happen to me or my children if they lose me, right now i feel like i've got nowhere left to turn and have my doubts about this place as well.. i know my story will shock you but i cant keep it in any longer.

  i am recently disfellowshipped for immorality, the subject of a kingdom hall witch -hunt and subsequent congregational humiliation, .

  during the process of the judicial committee meetings and proceedings no consideration was given to my real human circumstances nor to the spirit of survival nor human nature nor that of a mother seeking to protect her children from lack of basic fundamentals such as food, shelter and clothing.

  I agree, and am so thankful that I am out.
  But remember that it takes time to be
  really free of that cult. Time is necessary
  to break free from mental bondage. My heart
  goes out to those who still have family
  trapped in that crazy world.
