Thought you all might like this one!! ( even though im an aussie i had a great laugh) Being Australian is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish Kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. Oh and...... Only in Australia ... Can a pizza get to your house > >>Faster Than an ambulance. Only in Australia ... Do supermarkets make sick people walk all the Way to The back of the shop to get their prescriptions while healthy People can Buy cigarettes at the front. Only in Australia ... Do people order double cheeseburgers, largeFries and A DIET coke. Only in Australia ... Do banks leave both doors open and chain the Pens to The counters Only in Australia .... Do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars on the Drive and lock our junk and cheap lawn mower in the garage. Only in Australia ... Do we use answering machines to screen calls and then Have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to Talk to in the first place. > >> > >> Only in Australia ... Are there disabled parking places in front of a Skating rink. NOT TO MENTION...3 Aussies die each year testing if a 9v battery works on Their tongue. 142 Aussies were injured in 1999 by not removing all pins from new >shirts. 58 Aussies are injured each year by using sharp knives instead of Screwdrivers. 31 Aussies have died since 1996 by watering their Christmas tree while the Fairy lights were plugged in. 8 Aussies had serious burns in 2000 trying on a new jumper with a lit Cigarette in their mouth. A massive 543 Aussies were admitted to Emergency in the last two years After opening bottles of beer with their teeth. And finally.... In 2000 eight Aussies cracked their skull whilst throwing Up into the toilet

ex JW atheists
by Bobhere ini know we were sold a lie in believing god was only dealing with the wt and to obey them is to obey god.
what puzzels me is that in rejecting the wt so many also reject their belief in god.
surely they believed that god existed as witnesses.

I guess i fall in this catorgory.
After being out of the JW since 1994 and never really worried about any kind of religion not believing anything.
Only now in this last month i have really realised what the JW are really about and now i really have no faith after so many years as a JW and having it shoved down my throat you really think that exjw really want to be told by another religion what they should do, this is not me.
I have no qualms in regards to my children who attend sunday school and they themselves can choose which direction with regards to religion that they wish to take.

Let's hear from you!
by mavie ini saw a chinese proverb yesterday that stuck me:.
"to know the road ahead, ask those coming back.".
being relatively young and inexperienced, i'm asking for your opinion about this great adventure we call life.

My biggest thing that took me a long time to realise is to have no regrets and to take whatever opportunity you can.(Within reason)

why do............
by helncon inelders have to know everything and i mean everything !!!!!!.
you know this morning i got woken by my dad and apparently he got hauled into an elders meeting last night and was told that he has to put his wedding on hold (see previous post) because my so called active brother sat down and had a chat with them and told them that my dad owed my mum money ( which is getting sorted out anyway damn solicitor taking their time) and i thought the whole idea of my brother and his wife were to have a chat about their marriage, anyway they also brought up how my dad is getting married so quickly and how did he get a scriptual divorce ( which no one know's how he got one).. i even rang my mum ( i was very upset by this time) and said my mind on that my dad deserves to have a life and that even though my brother doesn't have much contact with him he should leave him alone even if he doesn't agree with what he is doing .
he left us ( me and my brother) alone when we made our choices so why can't they leave him alone.. so why do the elder have to know about my dads personal life(as he has done nothing wrong) when there are more than others who ned help..... you know, now i know why i left so much crap that goes on that is really needless they don't need to know everything.... or do they?.

hi ya all,
Juni the wedding was suppose to take place in early march but now with all the 'alegations' it has been but back by a few months as there were a few people who thought it was too soon for him to get married again ( only officialy divorced on jan 13 07). But now not sure when the wedding will be he thinks it may be late may.
Sorry i just had to vent my anger at something and this seemed the only place on where people can actually understand what i am actually talking about.
Anyway im glad there is some more time now for them and in a way i really hope it all doesn't go through ( i haven't met the woman but she doesn't seem that nice and my dad i think may even have second thoughts). He not the type of guy to be by himself.
Cheers

Would you say yes to a blood transfusion?
by Fisherman ini would like to get some honest answers about your position on blood transfusion.
as we get older, sooner or later we wind up in the hospital and the question they always ask is"...in the event.. would you accept blood?
" faced with that question, i answered no.

This has been a thing that i too have not been able to put to rest after all these years.
If my hubby and kids needed one i wouldn't even blink to say yes no prob, but for me to say yes to have one i would rather my hubby do that for me but voluntary i don't think i really could bring myself to have one.

Firstly welcome ( i know that i am only new here as well),
You know your life story was fantastic.
I couldn't agree more with the other and the future readers that we all have very similiar events that happened to all of us i too almost thought you were taking the words out of my head and putting them on the page.
I hope you get as much out of this forum as i recently have and too know that you are not alone in the way that you have been feeling and have felt.
The only thing i can add that i too faded not wanting to bring shame to all my family but you know i wasn't safe as i thought i was as i was living with a guy and they came a knockin' and DF me.

Do you still call it "the truth"?
by True North indo you find youself still calling it "the truth" even though you are an ex-jw?
for instance, in one posting i just read, the poster wrote "when i was in the truth..." .
not a big deal, perhaps, but really not such a good thing either as it's a habitual holdover from the program of mental conditioning we were subject to.

I refer to it as the religion
This is the only thing that i can call it to my family when i have to reference the JW to them
