I must say i agree that the name Jehovah isn't an accurate transliteration of haShem (the name) I currentlt prefer the pronunciations Yahuwah Yahuweh. I am on a search for his true name. Keep in mind that other biblical names should be treated equally especially those that contain haShem Elohim (the name of God) For example Jeremiah really is Yerme`Yahu. Jesus christ is Yahu'shua Messiah. I urge all believers to seek the true name although i don't believe it is a requirement i do think it's important.

Going door to door to recruit members doesn't work
by JH inwhen you look at all the hours they do going door to door world wide and then you look at how many hours preaching it takes to bring just 1 person to their organization, it's not efficient.. my mom goes to a baptist church now, and i was surprised to know that 500 go to that meeting on sundays and they don't go door to door to go get these people.. there might be 80 witnesses at my hall and going door to door doesn't make much of a difference.
maybe it's even counter productive since people don't like being pested at home..

to highlight the "affectiveness" (sp) of the door-to-door work one "pillar" bro in a recent service meeting talk asked for a show of hands of all that came into the org by the door-to-door work. There was possibly 80 or 90 people at my hall but prolly only 8 or 9 raised there hand. In dismay the speaker just 'fudged' it to go in line with his point and said "ahhhh.... well see almost all of you...." I almost burst out laughing....

Harry Potter? Are witnesses told not to read it????
by annalice ini have not been to a meeting for some years now so i would not know if it has been said ,but have the witnesses actually been told straight out not to read the harry potter books?
i ask this because my in-laws have seen me reading them and now think i am into evil stuff because i have them .
so is it just them or is this what is now taught in the orginization?

A bethel brother at one convention condemned Chess, Star wars, pokemon (which was hugely popular at the time), risk and battleship, harry potter, and LOTR all in the same breath. It seemed very pharisee-like to me. Since that talk everyone in our circuit got into ultra jw conciense mode and was willing to crucify you for partaking or viewing any of the above items. Now theres the whole myspace controversy. At our last assembly the DO had a stack of printed pages of every JW that he could find that had a myspace! That was creepy to me. I'm suprised they havent tapped our phone lines yet...., sigh
