MY LYING MOTHER IN LAW

this is not a thread to gain sympathy.

my life has changed dramatically over the weekend.

my husband (hoboken) has just left me and my two boys.. i'm not going to divulge all the details, but needless to say things are very tough emotionally for all of us.

Oh Lorraine I'm so so sorry! This must be a terrible time for you all and my heart goes out to you and your beautiful boys. You and Matt have been through so much together over the last year and I fully understand how heartbreaking and traumatic thats been (and continues to be)

Now this! Oh honey, how your heart must ache! Cry those tears sweetheart and don't hold back. I'm so glad that you've got real friends around you. Lean on them as much as you can because that is what REAL friends and REAL christian love is all about.

Every single one of the JW's at your local KH will see this as "punishment" because you've left the "truth". Don't you DARE let them lay that on you! DON'T YOU DARE....This is just one of life's pits which happens to us all, JW's included. You did great with the MIL, you told her a few hometruths she really needed to hear, its just a shame she's still holding back from you. Goes to show just how totally conditional her love is, even for her family. What a sad, pitiable woman.

I don't know whats caused this split and its none of my business but if its anything to do with the pressure of being shunned, I'm with ya girl... Stay strong for your boys, all this change is gonna be very strange and unsettling for them. Do your best to keep life stable and normal for them (i'm sure your doing this already - you aint daft) and hopefully things will calm down for you.

Imagine this situation. A father does not allow his daughter and a young Christian man to go out unchaperoned. The girl responds: "But Dad, don't you trust me? We won't do anything wrong!" She may love Jehovah and have the best of intentions, yet is she "walking in [godly] wisdom"? Is she 'fleeing from fornication'? Or is she foolishly "trusting in [her] own heart"?

What a stupid thing to write. This shows that the father doesn't believe his daughters faith is strong enough not to stop her leaping on the first guy who takes an interest. And what about the young man? How insulting to presume that his faith means nothing to him and he's going to want sex with the girl as soon as they're on their own!

The father is showing the same level of distrust and the same need to control that the Society show to all Witnesses.

today i spoke with a former jw i've been in touch with for several years and discovered what i think could be a major bombshell for the wts.

as we all know, shunning is the most powerful weapon the wt cult has over its members and for decades the wts has been able to get away with practicing it at their whim.

the us and other courts have permitted them to to use it, even though it destroys families and has ruined countless lives.

I know this thread was started years ago but I'm looking for Society quotes that explain WHY they shun. Whats the real purpose behind this practice?

I'm looking for quotes that identify the purpose as "to shame" the wrongdoer or words like that. I've searched the CD rom and others sites but have only found one from WT 1963

Can anyone suggest anymore?

even in congregation sanctioned duties.. so, why, then, do so many service pairings involve just that: a brother alone in the territory (even if it's to make a call) with a sister he's not married to?.

Forget the elders Spike, you're a grown man, you can make decisions on whose company you keep for yourself.

Just be friends, then if there's a spark, fan the flame a little. Get to know each other and forget the gossipmongers, they can take a hike.

I recently spoke to a brother who's just been reinstated. The elders were giving him a hard time because he rode to the kingdom hall with just him and his girlfriend in the car and there was "talk".

He said to them, "I own a 3 bedroom house and I live by myself. If I wanted to have sex with my girlfriend I wouldn't be doing it in the car!" Needless to say, it shut them up.

from the jehovah's witness (jw) point of view, those who leave are leaving a "spiritual paradise" where "the truth" exists.

those who leave thus put their everlasting life in jeopardy.

I can so relate to what you're talking about Jeff. I wanted to cling to a faith almost to prove the JW's in my area wrong, that I haven't "left Jehovah" as they claimed and joined the world in its seedy debauchery as they hoped. But my motive for seeking a faith beyond JW's wasn't pure and I find myself questioning more and more, wanting clearer evidence, tired of chasing shadows and guessing at meanings.

Where is God in all this? I don't know, I've lost him again. I'm scared to pick up the bible and just read. I'm scared incase the words condemn me yet again, and scripture has been used to condemn me so often, to tell me I'm just not good enough....I don't think I can take hearing that again.

At a certain point, it all comes down to faith, which admittedly, is usually wrecked upon a JW exit. What is often misunderstood though is, like the Kingdom Hall, agnosticism and atheism are often stops on a spiritual journey, one that continues to forge ahead. It often isn't a final destination, although for some, it is.

Your word here give me hope. Perhaps this turning toward agnosticism is a phase, a spiritual bus stop. and to be honest, I think we all need to take stops. Many of us take years to heal from the spiritual abuse we've suffered, the damage done to our spiritual side is considerable and no amount of rushing will speed the healing up. For this isn't about our heads, we can all quote why various WT doctrines are false, this is about our hearts, the absolute betrayal of trust - some feel by God himself. Where was God the day I thought he'd sent the Witnesses? How come I was praying for help and 10 minutes later 2 witnesses were at my door seemingly in answer to that prayer? Coincidence? Maybe, I just don't know. All I know is that for the next 21 years, I was spiritually abused (as we all were) by an organization that I thought was an answer to my prayer.

Somehow for faith to be restored, that trust has to be restored too. Anyone knows that isn't something that happens overnight, its a sloooow process. Like a wife thats been cheated on, the husband is gonna have to prove himself trustworthy for many years and in many situations before full trust can be restored completely, if ever. If God wants us back, then he's gonna have to prove himself trustworthy, and that takes both parties to step up to the plate. We have to make ourselves vulnerable and put our trust out there, and God has to step up to the mark and not let us down again.

Are we willing to make ourselves vulnerable to being let down again? I'm not sure if I can do that yet. I'm too scared. i just don't trust Him.

just want to know why some of you,not all,please dont think im meaning all of you because that truly isnt the case,claim to be happy for leaving the truth,being df etc yet you continue to speak about jehovah or attack him or the organisation??

even for many years after.. this would show that your hurt by them df you.

when someone we love hurts us its natural to want to hurt them back because we have feelings for them.so im thinking that many have love for jehovah still??
