Roger Clemens being charged with perjury for lying to Congress. One of those GTFOH moments in life.
by miseryloveselders ini don't vote, i'll never vote.
some of that may be due to a jw upbringing, but i'm convinced a lot more its my upbringing in the city.
i hate politicians with a passion.

What amazes me is the amount of people who believe the lies and waste their time actually voting for these people. Now that doesn't make sense to me.

I think it takes a while for most to start seeing the truth as it is. I was talking to my DF son a few years ago and mentioned this site. He still thought it was bad to be on an apostate site even though he has been out for more than ten years. You can always tell your friend to start reading here.

History Channel Special on the Last Days
by SouthCentral ini had surgery this weekend and the history channel had a great special on the last days.
they actually highlighted the generation teaching and the millerites.
benny hinn was on and he stated that 1948 was the key year and the generation lasted 100 years.

I'm not as interested as I used to be about end of days programs and such but it is interesting to see how other religious groups view prophesies. I'm with cameo on this one, if there is to be an end time, it's for people like ben hinn. I can't believe people actually give this guy money and take the time to even listen to him, it's so obvious he's a crook and a fake. However, it doesn't mean that he might not have some sort of power to help him do what he does. There are some who have the ability to access energy through the mind that the regular joe can't.

What is a true Christian?
by wannabe inwhat is a true christian?.
of course it had to be the twelve apostles, didn't it?
" {john 13:34,35 nwt}.

A true christian is someone who when given money to by someone else (for the purpose that he is a christian) turns around and immediately distributes it to those in need around him. Jesus was not a businessman, and did not need assets to preach his message.

Is it just me or do people who think they have some special inside relationship with God come off like self-absorbed lunatics?
by gubberningbody ini mean, i know i'm self-absorbed, however i don't think i have or ever will have some relationship with god that everyone else doesn't likewise have.. .
and geez!
knock off the paragraphs upon paragraphs of blah, blah, blah..."and that's how i know i'm so special.

I agree Keyser. What christians or exJW don't realize when they do stuff like that is that it only reinforces their "thank god we have the truth" mentality.

I really feel for you guys who were brought up to endure such BS. That's awful, really. Thanks for posting. I always thought those assemblies to be extremely boring, but now that I 've got a child's view of it. Torture is what comes to mind.

Informal poll...Which Meeting was the most boring for you? Which one did you stop attending first?
by mindmelda infor me, it was always the theocratic ministry school/field service meeting.. strangely, i never minded giving talks, because i always wanted to perform and have virtually no stage fright.
but, listening to some of the deadly dull talks used to make me look at the clock a lot.
i always felt sorry for some poor slob who had to give his first bible reading on something like job's daughters raping him after getting him drunk.. i swear i think our school overseer did it on purpose because he was a mean sob.. and, i hated field slavery as my parents became witnesses when i was about 12, never did get a good attitude about it.

I think the watchtower was the worst, I couldn't wait for that final prayer that morning. I was in a small cong. so I usually had a part on tuesday night. I always tried to give my talks a twist to make them interesting. All in all, man those meetings were boring. All of them. I returned a few times afterwards but could never figure out why they never tried to make them interesting and mind provoking. The argument is that "we can't go too deep, what if there's a new one he wouldn't understand". So they get spoon feed just in case there's a new one there.
