Why is the US so afraid of Social Health Care?
by eyeslice ini just don't get why the us is so afraid of social health care, and is so opposed to the canadian and british models.
the plain fact is that there are far more americans without access to health care than the combined populations of sweden, norway, denmark and finland.. a measure of the maturity of any society has to be how it sees fit to re-apportion its wealth.. we are quick to criticise african leaders who line their own pockets but leave the masses in poverty but cannot see that blindly following capitalist principles is much the same.
if we live in a wealthy society then part of that wealth has to be put back into society as a whole.. .

by Simon inpraying man let his daughter diedale neumann faces up to 25 years in prisona us jury has found a man guilty of killing his sick 11-year-old daughter by praying for her recovery rather than seeking medical care.. the man, dale neumann, told a court in the state of wisconsin he believed god could heal his daughter.. she died of a treatable disease - undiagnosed diabetes - at home in rural wisconsin in march last year, as people surrounded her and prayed.. neumann's wife, leilani neumann, was convicted earlier this year.. the couple, who were both convicted of second-degree reckless homicide, face up to 25 years in prison when they are sentenced in october.. a lawyer representing dale neumann said he would appeal.. 'faith healing'.
during the trial, medical experts told the court that neumann's daughter could have survived if she had received treatment, including insulin and fluids, before she stopped breathing.. on thursday neumann, who is 47 and studied in the past to be a pentecostal minister, said he thought god would heal his daughter.. "if i go to the doctor, i am putting the doctor before god," he said.
"i am not believing what he said he would do.".

Do You Think Most People Are Prejudiced ----Black, White, Red, etc.???
by minimus inafter reading the terrific thread about the black harvard professor and the allegations being thrown around, i wonder if anyone might not show prejudice in one way or another.
i kind of think, anyone can be guilty of it.
i know some blacks that seriously look down upon other blacks simply because of a variation in color.

I said once early in my posting on this board that I thought that everyone is prejudiced to some extent. I received a very negative response and I tried to avoid those topics since.
