i'd say, beware, once you'll be baptized they won't treat you the same way.
they will expect a lot from you, and you'll never be free again to say what you think about the religon or even think for yourself.
they will control your life completely.

i see serious problems with the leadership of the witnesses on two important levels: locally, in smaller bodies of elders with marginally qualified men carrying heavier workloads, and internationally in a lackluster and unimaginative governing body.
there are no nathan knorrs, or fred or ray franz's in this pathetic group!

I say better because we just joined two congregations because a lot of jw's moved to other parts of the country. We have +10 elders now that is better. A few of them are 'good' bible students. The rest knows all WT popular bible texts by heart and some other are on the level of my book with bible stories. two decades ago the elderly body was just renewed with other elders because of the bossy attitude there was.
In average it's a nice bunch we have. The former CO who visited our congregation gave some instructions to change this or that. Half year later he came back and asked why his instructions were not listened to. I heared the overseer say.. not instructions.. they were suggestions.
Still when it comes to it they stick by the rules.. of course.
for years one of my assignments was in accounting both at the circuit level and district level.
i was never department head because those slots are filled my true company men.. the cost of an assembly is determined by a formula the assembly hall committees uses.
it's pretty straightforward.
half year ago an elder asked me to join him to collect the money..
so we collected all the money and then we went to some little office where 2 elders where sitting to count the income. It wasn't much so one of the elders counting said the CO wouldn't be happy about this, because half of this is for him.

You're understanding me perfectly, I just don't know the facts.
Those buildings where renovated with JW labour that is a fact as Barbara Anderson writes how plumbers and other handworkers where needed to improve bought buildings. We don't know if the material was also delivered by the society and what the price was they had to buy it from COHI T.A.
It stinks .. that it does, because the WT has a huge bank account they didn't need COHI to buy the buildings in the first place, it was to deceive the public society. Unless it was a gift, but then the Awake! wouldn't say they bought it from COHI. And if it was a gift they surely wouldn't name who donated the gift, but they mentioned COHI. And if it was a gift they could have given it directly (same year) to the WT but remember the deceiving part ;)

One person on our little forum in the netherlands nickname Ukkie what means Little One translated all pages into Dutch...

The watchtower libraryCD points twice to COHI in an Awake in 1989. I don't know if we (in holland) where already simultaniously with the US but it was g89/22/4 pag. 25.
