If you do anything, read Ray Franz' two books first!
Erasmus (1520 AD): "If we want truth, every person ought to be free to speak what they think without fear."
this site is not an official website of jehovah's .
witnesses.
i cannot believe some of the horrible things i have read here.

i'm having a discussion with my wife about the society's changes in doctrines and failed predictions.
she basically is using the argument that the society is fallible just like the the first century disciples.
so this neatly excuses the society for any erroneous teachings or failed prophecies.. how would you counter-argue that type of reasoning?
Man, read Ray Franz second book, In Search of Christion Freedom, it really lays it all out very well......
Also, have her read Luke 21:8 and explain that away.....
Also, the big problem is that if you don’t believe their mistakes, its disfellowshipping time, however we are asked to understand when they do make a mistake!
Erasmus (1520 AD): "If we want truth, every person ought to be free to speak what they think without fear."
i'm debating on when to actually decide and step down as a ministerial servant.
my conscience will no longer allow me to give talks or speak to others in the door-to-door work.. i'm feeling really apprehensive about what i need to do, i know for a fact that my wife is going to be devestated.. .
whats the best way to step down from an appointed position?
Man, I know what you are going through! I was school Overseer and after reading Ray Franz two books, I knew I had to at least step down. I stated that I needed a change and that I was going to move to another hall hasta pronto. Nice way to get out of serving with no pressure.
At the new hall, stayed low, worked on the wife (just brought out some of Brother Franz points now and then, it was so fun watching the light turn on with my Wife). Then after about one year, we DA ourselves....... Hang in there.......
Erasmus (1520 AD): "If we want truth, every person ought to be free to speak what they think without fear."
i do have two new return visits but they are not from field service.. my womens club went to a local nursing home today.
we brought the elderly gifts, we sang songs with them, and we brought our pets, and listened to them.
they were so happy to see us and share some of their lifes experiences with us.. it was different to go to a nursing home with no ulterior motives like pushing jw literature.. it felt right to just give them what they wanted most.
Now, now, the correct term is "Back Call," not RVs. Heheeee
Erasmus (1520 AD): "If we want truth, every person ought to be free to speak what they think without fear."
when i sit at a ca and the bro comes out and reads the financial report it is alwasy in the red (deficit).
then i ask myself: "if we own this building, the parking area, and there is no food being served; how in the world can we have a deficit?
" typically, the deficit is in the range of $5000 and $7000.
As an Elder, I could not understand why we would commit a large amount to the WT before the CA funds were all in. Also, you pay for the DO living expenses including their housing. Seems like the DO’s want to have their own apartment instead of living with a family.
Also, at least at Southern California AH (Mira Loma), there are brothers and sisters living in apartments at the site on a full time bases. Boy, the Apostle Paul would roll over in his grave if he witnessed what goes on now days.
Erasmus (1520 AD): "If we want truth, every person ought to be free to speak what they think without fear."
i was just fowarded this from a faithful dub.
it sounds fishy to me, like one of those e mail hoaxes that go around.
subject: special talk on september 30 2001. .
Oh yes, I remember that talk. Put the fear of God into me........
Nicto burada clatu........
Erasmus (1520 AD): "If we want truth, every person ought to be free to speak what they think without fear."
lets play a game!.
let make beleive that this post is headed by elders from you know congregation, and they have heard rumors about you know apostasy, but before they can get a committee together the need solid facts that you know is truly an apostate.. the poster can play either the part of elders who are investigating, or that of a loyal jws bringing facts to the elders attention about this matter.. i think this could be fun, or i maybe totally wrong and nobody wants to play this game.. we might even get enough facts together to form a committee and disfellowship him (in our game).
i'll defend your right to say it, but it doesn't mean i beleive it.
With all due respect, I hope your observations and support(?) of the WT’s policy on association does not discourage You Know from posting here
Erasmus (1520 AD): "If we want truth, every person ought to be free to speak what they think without fear."
i dont know if any of the old h20 'ers will remember this, but, about 18 months ago, i submitted a post about my new-found jw elder pal, the famous dub-in-the-pub, what a grand fellow he was and how i wasn't going to tell him i was df'd because i didnt believe in enabling dfing habits and, anyhow, i was not guilty of any of the forbidden activities listed in 1 corinthians 4.
11. so there.. basically paul says stay away from loose living persons, grasping persons, idolaters, slanderers, drunkards, swindlers.
now, actually, im fairly ok with that, paul seems to be advising avoidance of the sort of people that i can happily live without.
Help him before you DF him....
Erasmus (1520 AD): "If we want truth, every person ought to be free to speak what they think without fear."
anyone got any good information as to why dubs dont like beards?
in 18 years, i have yet to understand why.
if its brought up tonight by anyone, what should i say?
Funny, If Brother Russell came back today, he would not qualify for any special service! From what I have heard, The Judge did not want to look like the followers of Russell, so he forbade beards. The Judge could then “spot” any Russell supporters quickly. He really cleaned house of all of Russell’s holdouts.
Erasmus (1520 AD): "If we want truth, every person ought to be free to speak what they think without fear."
perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.
I hope youknow is right! Something has got to give...............
