The only problem I have with this is the control issue.
The borg does not like giving up control over anything.
So I ask, why would they give up direct control over the congregations?
I understand not being sued, but it seems to be a big loss of power for little gain. From rumors I've heard and thinking it over, imho, the bookstudy was combined with the kms in order to free up elders to do the work that the co's do. Then the WTB&TS can have a company man spying on the congregations without having him on the payroll; saves money and shields them from liability.
i am one who believes strongly in the spirit realm, paranormal activity, etc.
even with such a strong belief, i am often told by skeptics that such things are foolish and nonsense.
while i accept people have the right to feel however they want, i have often shared stories with people that are hard to explain with logic and find others have events like this too.

I have heard that to be true. Our neighbor right beside us has been here for 40 years. He said that our house was a rental house almost the whole time he's lived in the neighborhood, ( I found that to be true through research; after the murder/suicide in 1926, very few people owned this house for long). Anyway, he said that before it was remodeled and sold to us, you could hear screams coming from the house when it was empty and the door used to fly open and shut on its own. Per my earlier post, we've had a few experiences but nothing like that, so I'm wondering if the spirits that haunted my house before the remodeling were the ones who were murdered and committed suicide, and they went away after the remodeling. Or if the current spirit here is my Aunt Shirley, and she is either protecting us from the others or has chased them away. She was hell on wheels in life, despite the fact that she was sick for most of it. I can't imagine what she would be like in spirit form, not tied to an ill body. The funniest thing about my stepson's mom seeing her in the window overlooking the driveway is that when Shirley was alive, she was very funny about people coming to her house without callng first. She advised all of her friends to do so, as she planned to shoot any unannounced guests, (this was in response to the fact that someone tried to break in her house once).
reading about the passing of wings' mom got me to thinking.
my mother has shunned me completely for the past 20 years with the exception of three conversations about health history.
if i outlive my mom, the probability is great that she will die without me ever seeing or talking to her in any kind of meaningful way.

Don't give up on family that you love. Don't be the one to shun in return. In the end, you must live with yourself when your parents are gone. Know when it is all said and done, and they have died, that you did all you could to show respect and love, even if they didn't return it.
Good idea. I try to do that in a way. Since I organized the reunion last October, I had invitations printed and sent to EVERYONE, even though I knew the jws wouldn't come. Then after the reunion, I had cards printed up with a snowflake scene recapping the reunion and sent them to EVERYONE, even if they didn't attend. Invitations for this year's reunion have already been mailed to EVERYONE, even though I know the jws won't come again this year, and I'll probably do the recapping cards again too for EVERYONE.

So, the injured man and his wife were raised jws and have been married for 40 years, yet neither of their sons hold to their beliefs. I wonder if the sons are da'd, df'd or just inactive and what they have to say about the blood issue in this case. I also wonder about the injured guy being an elder of some prominence and also participating in a sailing competition.
Anyway, I hope this poor guy pulls through.

the way i've heard it is you're contacted to be interviewed in a convention talk because you've had a great experience in some form or other and they need you to boast about it.
so, you meet with the brother handling the assignment and you go through your experience with him (boast about it).

Yes, I have heard about it on this very board. But even if it isn't true, I'm certain that interviewees never give the full story. Years ago I heard that my mom had an assembly part where she was interviewed about perservering in the face of opposition of an ubm. Her story was true that her husband opposed her being a jw, and yes, he eventually did become one himelf. I'm sure she failed to mention a few things:
1. Her husband tried to molest her daughter, and under the direction of the elders, she did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it.
2. She left him until he started studying.
3. The same daughter who fought off molestation attempts was later df'd for refusing to either stay with a physically abusive, mentally ill jw husband or remain single and stick around long
enough to see if he was going to commit adultery or murder.

they don't want to hear it, they think i am being hurtful having so many books about cults, jws in particular etc etc.
i never talk about it but they saw my bookshelves in my office during a recent visit and are besides themselves.
they want to know where the anit catholic literature is - (my husband and kids are catholic, i am not).
I am so frustrated that they could care less about the truth of the truth - and are now upset with me for believing knowledge is power.

This is why I've never tried to contact my mom except in cases of need of medical information.
