I was 31 when I went back to school and worked part time, raised two kids and ran a household. Yes, it was crazy busy, but the time flew by I blinked and was graduating with honors before I knew it. I'm sure the same will happen for you. Good luck, and remember that the middle and end of semesters are the toughest. Professors act like their class is the only one you're taking, and the pressure is on to get everything done at once. But you'll muddle through, and the pressure will disappear just as quickly as it came.

Just checking in to let people know how I'm doing.
by JonathanH ini haven't been around lately on account of having been very busy the past few weeks, and it's only going to get busier.
this place gives me a needed sense of community, so i thought i would just check in to let everyone know what i've been up to.. one thing i've been up to is matriculating.
i'm officially enrolled in college now, and my first day will be august 15. i haven't decided for certain on my major, but my advisor said that it's my first semester so not to worry too much about it, i'm just going through general college education for now anyway.

Can't sleep... Feel so alone!
by Free!! insorry, i am just feeling alone and needed to vent..... i hate the fact that i allow jws to control me for so long and now i have no friends!
i mean, i do have a few, but at moments like this when my head is spinning like a thousand miles per hour, there is noone i can call and trust and talk to.... my friends all have their lives, and the few that i can call, i am afraid to do so... again, i know i said this before, but jw ruined my social skills... .
i want to scream!!!

The Real Issues Facing former Jehovah's Witnesses

esp from (thinking for) themselves.. however, the real dillema's facing an ex jw who leaves, whether on their own terms or being disfellowshipped are real and haven't changed.. .
lonliness, how to make friends, is a big issue.. fear, esp fear based on superstition, a fear of god and of the future that is not in any way based in proveable fact.. education, how to think and reason critically to avoid being taken advantage of is a big challenge.. love, sex, and how to navigate your way around all of that hot mess.. geez, yeah, forgot.

Anyone wanna place a bet on what will happen to me when I have to go to the Kingdom Hall this Saturday??
by Coffee House Girl inwell since there is no "betting" (as it reeks of gambling) in jdub land, lets place a friendly wager on what will happen to me when i go to my father's "memorial" service at the kingdome hall this saturday..... to give you newbies background info: i am neither df'd or da'd- i left 2 years ago with no explanation.
i have been hounded by elders in my cong because they have suspicions that i am living with a man, but they have no proof (well, no proof in jdub land- you know...two witness rule).
after many attempts to get me to meet with them- i finally sent the elders a "cease & desist" letter after one of them spied in my miniblinds to see me eating breakfast with someone (they couldn't identify who).

Why not ust show up with your brother ad his friendright efore the talk starts and leave when the semon's subject changes from being about your dad to the cult recruitment routine? Then the three of you, or maybe four of you if you can swing by and pick up CSG, and have a nice meal together remembering your dear father.

My encounter today.....
by Free!! inlet me start with: i havent been to a meeting in almost 2 years, i am "inactive" and the only contact i have w the jw is the an open minded jw friend who i talk to....since i left, i have done what i want, travel, get my nose pierced again (had it pierced before i baptized but they gave me hell for it, even thought the bible doesnt say anything bad about nose piercings) and hang out w "wordly" friends who smoke, drink and swear.... i don't smoke but lately i have been giving this friend a ride and he is a-pack a day type of guy... he left his pack in my car yesterday..... so, i am working evenings this week on a special project, and this morning i decided to run some errands.
i was hungry so i stopped at macdonalds to grab some coffee... i placed my order thru the drive thru and pull over to the pay window, as i look for the money the drive-thru attendant says "wow, hello free!
", i look up and omfg one of the brothers from my congo... i acted like normal (sorry but i dont get nervous of agitated when i see a jw, i just dont give a dang) and smiled and made short conversation, while he is tellng me how much he misses seeing me at the hall, i see his eyes going between my piercing, my jet black goth hair and the pack of cigarettes on my passenger seat.... .

ignore their txt - but head back for a coffee next week at the same time and on the seat next you place the pack of fags on top of a JW book - that'll confuse him.
I like that suggestion the best...least amount of effort, most impact, LOL!

the jw organization says that two witnesses to separate acts of wrongdoing are acceptable for someone to be df'ed.. "if there is another witness to the same type of sin on the part of the accused, this would be basis for forming a judicial committee.
