Personal Story - How a cult got me out of a cult
by CitizenRain ini used to be a bit more active in the community over on the yuku board (i recognize some of you from over there) but have lost touch.
i've been lurking this board for about 3 years now and finally decided to jump in and post, and share my similar but still unique story of how i went from being a born-in true believer to a full blown apostate.
first off, let me introduce myself.

assemblies and my lovely wife
by stillin ini finally put a couple of pieces together that have boggled me for years.. i would take my family to the conventions and assemblies and for some reason, my wife would always be upset or start an argument in the car on the way home, or in the week that follows.
i realize now that her frustration is that i am not the guy in the demonstrations.
you know, the guy who has the bestfriend/elder who always says the perfect thing and the guy is so humble and does this little talks-to-himself thing where he reveals his deep spirituality and applies the ever-so-wise words of his friend and after that life is just great again!.

Stillin, maybe you should become completely inactive, including not driving your wife to the conventions. She may come to appreciate you for the pis poor brother she thought you were. If not, at least you wouldn't be there to be bitched at.

Update: I got the shun at my dad's funeral- the best outcome really!!
by Coffee House Girl inhello all jwn .
so glad to have that over with- it was surreal to walk in the kh after two years...it is just a building to me now (not "jehovah's house").
i must say that now i'm on the outside...what a boring sad building- the people were not joyful and friendly (just older and fatter than i remember)- i got the nervous stares and shaky "hi" when i looked at all of them and said hello.. my mom was sitting all by herself in the front row of the hall...i went and sat by her side.

What a beautiful poem, and what a bunch of gaping assholes who were offended by it! So sorry for your loss, dear girl.

Telling a Depressed Person It's Demons!
by NewChapter inwhen a person is depressed, their cognitive abilities are depleted.
they are processing reality through a very negative filter and need help getting balanced.
they often experience fear, guilt, hopelessness and anxiety.

But when the CO visit came they recommended my removal because I lacked "soundness of mind."
But those bastards who cover up child molestation and domestic violence are of perfect mind, of course. How about the sick SOBs that decided that homosexual adultery and bestiality weren't "scriptural grounds" for divorce? What kind of soundness of mind did those mental GIANTS have?

..I get this almost like a woman's period, during the last few days of the month, I get more emotional, I call it a myriad, man period. (Dont laugh
haah)...
I used to believe that people with depression were just weak until I read what it's really like. It sounds like what I used to experience during my PMS week. No matter what was going on in my life, everything seemed bleak and hopeless. First I would cry and then get mean as a snake. Thankfully it only lasted one week out of the month, and it has eased up with hormone treatments and age. But man, I wouldn't wish that on anyone!
Take care of yourself Youngbro. The sooner you can get out of the clutches of the Watchtower, the better. But in the meantime, try to focus on what kind of future you want to have once you're out in the world.

I'm certain her religion also abhors adultery, but has she ever objected to preparing a marriage certificate for two adulterers? If her "morals" are so important, why doesn't she require a background check for applicants to make sure they've never committed adultery or have certifications of virginity? In her line of work it's almost certain that she's even prepared marriage licenses for child molesters. I'm wondering how, with such a delicate conscience, that she's ever performed her job.
