So why
by bushido8000 init has become very apparent to me very quickly that this forum is dominated by ex-jws.
i have many questions and topics to present but i first want to know who i am presenting these questions and topics to so i have 2 questions that i would like as many of yall to answer as possible.. .
question 1: did you leave the organization out of the blue or were you first disfellowshipped?.

Was an abused jw wife...yada, yada, yada, made what was probably a false confession of adultery to my jw mom to rid myself of mentally deranged jw husband, (can't remember details as it was a very stressful time for me, and it was more than 20 years ago.)
It doesn't really matter why someone left, because family shunning family isn't scriptual...period. No wonder so many ex-jws have an ax to grind with those vipers in Brooklyn.

Nirvana and Green Day help me get through the little time I have left of having to act like a JW...
by Chemical Emotions ini know it sounds strange, but music not only helped me to realize that the jw world is fugging fugged up, but it helps keep me motivated to fight all urges to "give in" and follow the wts just becuase it's all i've know.
i'm musically talentless but these two bands (and a few others, like death cab) have helped me through some rough stuff.. books- from young adult author john green to kafka to katherine patterson- have helped tremendously also.. my boyfriend has helped most of all.. but i was wondering: what things help those of you still in the org, besides family and friends and other relationships (if those helped at all)?.

I just want to say, "Welcome!" You may have an easier time of con tacting Randy Waters at freeminds.org. Also, if it comes down to divorce, don't let our husband bully you into giving up your kids. There's a booklet on jw custody disputes. It can be found at jwchildcustody.com.

It's my Birthday!
by drewcoul init's my birthday today, sept 19. i was born in 1972. .
i find it interesting that so many people i know post a "happy birthday" on my facebook page.
all of those years inside the wts org., and i always thought birthdays were evil, pagan, god dishonoring.

So who is going to do some kind of protest next Sunday?
by serenitynow! innext sunday is the discussion of the 7/15/2011 wt article about shunning.
i am planning to stand outside of a kh on a major street with a big banner that says that the jws do indeed destroy families with their shunning policy.
i will have many copies of the article that will be discussed that day.. anyone else have any plans?.

You go girl! If it doesn't do any good, like most people say, I'm sure you'll think of something else. You're smart and a real go getter!

Greetings everyone
by MoneurMallard inhello everybody, i studied with the jehovah's about 10 years ago, was never baptized, never a publisher, never really did anything, went to a few of the watchtime meetings.
my purpose at the time was a study on comparative religion, which i eventually became a student of in full practice.
of all the organizations i met with, the witnesses were the most friendly at first, welcoming me to ask many questions about the bible.

Welcome. I haven't read the other thread yet, but please note that English is not Possible sans first language. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Welcome to JWN! There's a more recent Watchtower article that calls apostates "mentally diseased" or some such nonsense. People have been clamouring about it for days here on JWN. I couldn't care less what those vipers have to say in the past, present or future. Stick around, you'll get a real education here!

After leaving the Faith, do you celebrate all of the Holidays?
by Quarterback ini could never understand how some who don't follow some of the moral restrictions in the jw faith, are strong against celebrating the .
religious holidays such as christmas, and easter etc.. do you celebrate the holidays knowing some of their origins?.

I celebrate them all with great relish! Everything has pagan origins, and it means nothing.
I can see the time of year for family to get together, but hunting for Easter eggs? Is this really fun?
Easter egg hunts are fun for kids, and putting them on is fun for adults. Plus, if a person likes sweets, candy in particular, who wouldn't love an Easter basket?
