by behemot inswansea paedophile in 17-year barrage of child abusesunday, march 21, 2010, 12:00a pensioner branded a "filthy paedophile" after being convicted of a barrage of sustained child abuse, which started over 43 years ago, has been jailed for 19 years.. gordon brian redmond was convicted at lewes crown court of 18 indecent assaults against children including six charges of rape and one charge of actual bodily harm.. the 72-year-old had already pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent assault against children.. the sexual offences took place while redmond, now of excelsior house, princess way, swansea, was living in brighton from 1967 to 1984. seventeen of the charges were sample counts examples of ongoing behaviour and offences.. the jury was unable to reach a verdict on a seventh charge of rape, and judge michael lawson qc ordered the charge to lie on file.. sentencing redmond, judge lawson said no sentence could truly reflect his actions.. "there is no mathematical calculation i can do that can match the harm that you have done with a certain number of years in custody," he said.. "nor can i undo the damage that has been done or bring peace and comfort to those who have suffered as a result of your selfish behaviour.".
redmond's sentence had to be determined according to the guidelines applicable at the time of the offences guidelines that judge lawson said reflected "an outdated view of serious offences".. redmond became a strict jehovah's witness in the 1970s and moved to a farm in pontyberem in 1984.. the offence of actual bodily harm took place in november 2006.. judge lawson paid tribute to the prosecution witnesses for their courage throughout the trial, particularly redmond's first victim.. "she has displayed a generosity of spirit throughout this trial that you do not deserve and which you never showed to your victims," he said.. prior to sentencing, defence barrister bernard richmond qc said his client was already enduring terrible punishment for his crimes.. "this rather proud, arrogant, cocky, difficult, bolshy, very full of himself, scary man, who everyone was supposed to look up to and admire, now stands in the dock as someone of very little money, no future, and with a reputation as a filthy paedophile," he said.. "he has been shunned by the jehovah's witnesses.
his wife, christine, has been forced to choose between her faith and her husband, and has chosen her faith.".

Yep. It absolutely is the same Steve Hassan. Of course, as the field has continued to grow and expand in knowledge, those tactics have also changed and he no longer is a proponent of these methods. You know...kind of like how science has changed so now we no longer think bloodletting is good medicine?

Yes, I did as part of my healing process. It was a statement of freedom for me.
I haven't done it since because it made me pass out (whoops) and I felt HORRIBLE physically. I realize this isn't a good excuse. I'm working up my courage to do it again.

I have bitten my tongue approximately 2939 times over your posts. ;)
I believe in the scripture that says God is love. I will never believe in a God that burns people in hellfire. I will never believe in ANY religion that is so dogmatic and arrogant as to believe it is the only salvation and billions of other people are not acceptable to God. Christianity is a new religion. Most of its tenets already existed before Christ was born. This practice of trying to force people to be saved that seems to be so prevalent among Born Again Christians is an anathema to me.
I understand your need to preach what you feel to be the Truth at every turn. It's very JW-like of you, of course, but I'm coming to see that it is just a characteristic of any "Christian". It might be interesting to get to know you without the constant repetition of scripture used in judgement to show how wrong people are in EVERY post as if it is a duty to save the unwashed heathen at every turn... I'm at the point that when I see your name, most of the time I don't open the discussion or I just ignore your posts - which I have a feeling is not your purpose in being here.
Sigh. I tried to write this nicely and I'm afraid it come over as b**chy, which I don't mean or feel.

a tabloid had a newspaper where she described her faith, she sounded quite nice and said she had never been teased by her faith.

Gotta agree with Black Sheep on this one. Five minutes on this site and you would know this is not a group of JWs. Secondly, it is neither kind nor loving (since I assume you are trying to be Christian based on your liberal use of scripture) nor appealing to jump in and start preaching condemnation. In this group it can be quite hurtful, triggering and offensive.
For the most part, this is a welcoming group. But like with ALL forums, proper form is to introduce yourself, make friends, learn about the cyber-people before spouting off opinions that are not welcome. Frankly, I had more than enough judgment and recruiting while I was a JW; I certainly do not want to hear it here.

Were you raised a JW? Here is the challenge - and honestly, you will probably have to learn it the hard way (no pun intended, but while we are on the subject, use condoms, NO EXCEPTIONS.)
As a JW, you were raised to believe (or indoctrinated if you weren't born in) that sex is ONLY for committed, married people, right? So when you leave, unfortunately, that mindset goes with you. If a guy kisses you or sleeps with you - in a newbie ex-JW woman's mind - that means the strong possibility of potential love and commitment. The guys you will date do not have the same background and therefore aren't going to be approaching this from the same mental/emotional triggers you are. For them, sex is normal and natural like brushing your teeth, combing your hair, getting dressed. It is just sex, no deeper meaning than that. It is fufilling a physical need, nothing more, nothing less. They can no more understand your need to make it into something more important than that than you can understand their way of treating it as not that big of a deal.
It took me almost 2 years to really "get" that and not think I was a: too disappointing in bed so they wouldn't come back, b:inferior, inadequate, unlovable.
I think you have 2 choices - if you want to play and explore, then think of it like that. Do not expect a relationship - look at it as having different experiences for future reference. Or, if you want a relationship, a good rule of thumb (learned from my wonderful "worldly" friends) is - don't give it up for 90 days. If he has consistently dated you and been present for those 90 days, then by the time you sleep with him, you will already know if he is relationship material.

part of the journey i suppose.. 3rd generation jw, served as an elder for > 20 years, talks at dc, pioneer etc - started to fade in last 12 months - will post my story sometime.. anyway, occasionally i still go to a meeting to keep my zealous jw wife away from the elders.. at a recent public talk, the speaker referred to 'millions now living will never die', and said:.

JWs having Facebook Sex - Strongly warned to get off FB at CA yesterday
by shopaholic inso it appears that jws are letting their freaky side come out on fb for everyone to see.. there was talk on the ca yesterday strongly warning all true lovers of jehovah to delete their fb accounts.
the talk was solely about fb.
the speaker mentioned that jws are associating with people that would not associate with in real life, often using the excuse that the person is a relative.
