2007 was my last one. I think it was at the Assembly Hall in St. Louis, Mo. This will be my 10th missing it. It is a Saturday. Even if I am not working, I wouldn't go.

i missed my first memorial last year in 60 years.
it always amazed me on this special night that the jw's forget how to park their cars in the parking lot.
i would pull in with my wife and there are 5 brothers giving directions on where and how to park my car.

we are not a support forum for people with serious depression or thoughts of suicide.
if you or someone you know are struggling with such issues there are professional support services in most countries with people who are experienced and qualified to help:.

I appreciate your reminder Simon. My little brother killed himself 2 years ago. I wish he would have gotten help.
If I didn't tell you then, I truly appreciated the PM you sent me at the time. It meant and still means more than you know.

just thinking out loud here.
i drive a lot of miles for my job in the st. louis, missouri area.
digital billboards popping up.
I wouldn't waste my money if it were expensive, but it's not.

I threw this out there just as a mental exercise, see what kind of input I would get.
Yes, the only ones who care would be the dubs, so a simple message pointing to a site such as jwfacts.
No, it is surprisingly inexpensive. $10 US buys over 200 imprints, depending on time of day. Each imprint last only a few seconds each, so it can't be wordy.
I would target two boards on two major interstates in the area leading to the convention site, targeting 730-930 am Friday morning and an hour or so after the session, maybe with a reference to the days theme but with a twist.
If WT got wind, maybe they would waste a LOT of money buying all the ad time...ha.
Anyway. Look up the site or similar in your area. Might be fun just to play with.

Heh, heh.

i met a wonderful man on match.com several months ago.
on our first date, there was amazing chemistry and we ended up having sex.
it was not planned, it just happened.
I still think this post is off. Truly sorry if I am wrong. I have read through the whole thread and the OP replies.
Sunnybear presuming you are dead serious, you are seriously confused about reality with this alleged JW.
Run, run, run. As fast you can. Leave this imposter JW and all things JW behind and find a real human, male or female, who treats you with respect.
I am not sure who is being played in this story, you...or us. Sad either way.
"Pat, can I buy a vowel? O please." "Yes, one O." "Pat, I'd like to solve the puzzle" T _ O _ _

Gosh. First and only post by a nonJW and it is this? Such details.
First of all OP, if you are legit, welcome and listen to what had has been said. Good advice given.
But, as a former JW who has been on this forum awhile, my spidey senses are tingling. Give me a T..... Maybe I'm wrong.

just wondering if anyone has gone back to a meeting out of curiosity?
(perhaps to an area far from your old khall where you know no one).
with all the changes from 2012 onwards (videos, tv screens, new meeting format, new songs etc) it would be an odd experience to be in attendance!.
My last meeting was a Sunday in August ( I think) 2007. Stayed only for the PT. Left right after, breathed a sigh of relief, I hadn't been in a couple of months during the remodel. Went because a friend gave the PT and I wanted to see the final look of the KH.
Afterwards I drove up the road to a cemetery, changed out of my suit into work clothes, and NEVER went back. Not for one of my closest friends funeral, nothing.
My never JW wife has said let's go out of curiosity. Nope. My JW mom said no funeral when she dies, and her nonJW husband won't do it, so no issues.

good afternoon , .
i have been having doubts for many years and as most jw's i have certainly not done myself a favor by suppressing all of my critical thinking.
i am married with 3 kids and my wife and i are inactive, but my wife has made it very clear in speech and action that she wants to go to all meetings, field service, and indoctrinate our kids.
OP...
I grew up in the JW cult... age 4 to age 41. I was in deep as a single elder with lots of responsibilities. I started having doubts in 1991, but buried them. In 2002 I attended the 8 week MTS. There the scales fell from my eyes, as I seen the hypocritical behavior and speech of men who were supposed to be the "cewam of the crop", but it was another 5 years in 07 before I left for good.
I give that brief history [many here know how long winded I can be], to show that it can take years, or decades, for someone to be ready to leave the cult. I knew something was fishy. It took an ethics class in college in 06 to push me out for good.
I cannot imagine going through the mental turmoil you are going through having a JW wife and young kids. It was difficult enough being single. BUT DO NOT GIVE UP ON HER. More importantly, DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOURSELF.
If you figure out happiness and live it, it will sink in, if she really wants it.
Ultimately, protect yourself and the kids. Good luck

the circuit overseer this week on tuesday gave a talk on loyalty to jehovah.
i listed 5 points.
i only remember 3.. one was the typical association with disfellowshipped relatives, the next was loyalty to friends over jehovah by not reporting wrongdoing to elders.
BTW, I met one JW who was an MS in Jacksonville, FL (actually Ponte Verde Beach) who was a PGA golfer, also designed courses. Bet WTBTS liked his donations.... Mark McCumber, nice fella.
