OCT 2019 Watchtower - Survival dependant on loyalty to JW Leaders

there is so much wrong with the newly released october, 2019 but that's not unusual.

what stands out is there statement claiming that survival through armageddon depends on loyalty to those 'taking the lead'.

since they claim there will be a point during the gt that they (the gb) won't be physically around, jws must still be loyal to jw leaders.. whats interesting in this article is that they make it clear that they, the governing body are going to take part, from heaven, in the war of armageddon.

Who was a member here back in the late 1990s?

i often wondered over the years what happened to a lot of the old posters from this group.

going back to the late 1990s a few of the names i recall...blacksheep, gypsywildcactus (i know she's ok as we're friends on facebook still), onacruise, minimus, veniceit, flower, prisca, bendrr, refinersfire, kent, englishman, shit...dare i say it evilforce lol, snittlesnacks (what a twat), scully, mouthy, talesin from nova scotia, xenawarrior.

littletom (from glasgow in scotland), outlaw, goaty, bisous, uncle brucey (australian character who loved his wildkife photography) - struggling now to remember more names.i know there are many more.

I started on here around 2007, though I lurked before that as an elder.

I met Dagney and Uzzah at an Apostafest in Toronto, what was that, 2008, along with others from here. (What happened to Eclipse)?

Anyone remember the Werewolf games we used to play here? Completely UN JW related, but fun. I still have feiends IRL because of that.

The Silence is still a friend, ***waves**** though I haven't talked to her in awhile. Ironic since we live and work near each other, (on certain routes at work, I think I pass her neighborhood). Indirectly, I have her to thank for meeting my wife. She knows. lol.

My life has changed so much due to this place. If not for Simon and JWN/JWD, I wonder if I would have left TheBorg.

I wonder about a Tamil congregation in Chennai. I almost married a sister from there. She was a dentist.

Thankfully in retrospect, when I got there, she quickly ditched me. I still hope she and her daughter are well. Her daughter is about my son's age or a little younger....hopefully made the decision to leave the cult.

Not good at the time, but less than a year later I was free of the cult. Now I have a wonderful Catholic wife. LOL

Angharad...the like is for remembering your pup. Our animals are our family. We had a dog live 19 yesrs. When we finnaly had to help him across the Rainbow Bridge, it was a rare time I seen my dad cry.

Now we just have lots of cats. Love each one.

Why the BIG 4.5 day elder "school"?

just wonderin' if anyone has heard of anything about something big going down in the borg?

good friend of mine just told me today that he will be attending a 4.5 day elder "training school" all nest week!

the "special" elder "schools" are usually only 2-3 days.. lots of dumbing down coming?.

Somewhere I may have posted the outline for MTS at the time. Think 2 week Pioneer School on steroids, with a lot of Organizational subjects....Branch organization, Circuit, District organization, Convention departments. Even the MS were privy to the elder manual during the MTS, though they did not get to keep one. Reinactments of JCs. I think I chaired one of those demos, LOL.

Really, in retrospect, dreadful.

I remember when my dad was briefly an elder in the 70s. He went to an elders school. Think it was a week, dunno.

The last one I went to was a day, never 2.

Hell, I suffered through 8 FUC#ING WEEKS of Ministerial Training School in 2002 (62nd US class). Illingworth was tolerable to listen to, Manera was horrible to listen to, except his stories of the old days. He was a walking Proclaimers book. In retrospect, they were both pompius asshats.

Glad I don't waste my 5 weeks vacation on any of that horse crap anymore.

When you were an active JW, did you ever have dealings with a pyramid scheme?

i'm not sure why this memory popped up, and i was wondering if any others, when they were still active jw had dealings with a pyramid scheme involving other witnesses in the organization?

at the time it was 1993, and my husband and i were still newlyweds.

once in a while, we would attend a neighboring congregation because that was where he grew up, and some of his family was still attending there at the time.

My JW mom remembered the CO involved in ACN telecom....Albert Cobble. He and his wife in it big time. His son was close to the top of that pyramid. He was removed forcefully from being CO. Took a little longer to evict them from the circuit apartment. LOL

Small Field Service Groups, Method of Control?

okay, so our congregation announced that saturdays they would be switching to small fs groups.

i found that odd because our kh is central to the territory and easy for most to get to.

through talking with others i found out that this is a branch wide directive that has little to do with convenience for the bros and sisters.

I liked it (NOT) when the only other person to show up was a single pioneer sister, with me, the single elder pioneer brother for afternoon service. Years later, I heard other married pioneers set it up on purpose so we would be by ourselves. Then what? It was suggested we take two cars and follow each other so as to not "be alone" in the same car.

What a bunch of dumb asses. We worked together by ourselves, glad to NOT be with them. Funny, NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. We were adults who were friends who were not trying to get into each others pants. Did not keep the gossip from ruining a true friendship.

Dont know whatever happened to her. Assume still a single pioneer with no future. Sad. She was one of the good ones.
