This was a very good read. Very well done! And good luck with the remainder of your education!

i find it interesting that so many people i know post a "happy birthday" on my facebook page.

I've Just Figured Out the Appeal of Sarah Palin!!
by AGuest inshe doesn't pronounce her "g'"s on the end of the words that end in "ing"!!!!
so, she's... cool!

So if we're no fan of Palin, we're either catty, prejudiced, uninformed, suffering from Sour Grapes Syndrome, dishonest, or all of the above. What a logical, well-reasoned argument. Now I'll refrain from commenting further because I don't want to hijack a thread about Sarah Palin, by talking about Sarah Palin....and certainly not because I'm being forced to defend the indefensible.

If Sarah Palin had been a male, would it have even been an issue?
It absolutely would have been if his candidacy was all about family values and abstinence only B.S.! Sarah Palin disgusts me, and it has nothing to do with being catty. The woman winked at the friggin' camera during a debate!! You think a man could have gotten away with that? How women can continue to support her is beyond me. I've worked my behind off to get where I've gotten in life, and here she is vying for the second highest position in the world with winks and smiles and faux folksiness, then turning around and complaining about sexism. Gimme a break, woman!

Yes! LOL I was just saying this to someone this morning. Every time I turn around, my 10 month old is shaving years off of my life with some new ingenious way she's discovered to try and injure herself. We must be ever vigilant!

Hey guys. I'm a small business owner and I recently started taking credit card payments online via Paypal. I heard on the radio this morning about this new thing called "Square", which lets you plug a device into your mobile phone, and you can swipe credit cards with it and take payments on the go.
Has anyone signed up for this? If so, what are the pros/cons? Are your clients apprehensive about it? Is it reliable? I'm in love with the concept, but I don't know much about how security is handled with these types of transactions and this looks like a fairly new thing. Paypal's fees are a bit higher for the level of transaction that I usually do, and you can't use Paypal on the go, but it is a trusted company that's been around for a while.
Anyway, I've read their website, but would appreciate some real-world feedback. Thanks!

One Reason Why I Speak About Racism

if anyone cares or dares to read this, this is how it was when i was 13 years of age.. the gap in funding for black and white kids' education is still stunning to me 46 years later, but it's there in black and white.. it's a testament to our determination and fortitude that we acquired an education at all.. this, in the richest country on the planet!.
for your edification and, hopefully, understanding.. syl.

Sylvia,
Some people are never going to "get it", for whatever reason, malignant or benign. I've found that it's a waste of time trying to convince them of anything, and you're definitely doing yourself a disservice if you let it consume you.
You seem like a nice person. Keep living, keep loving and let the rest slide off your back.

How many here have worked in social work, etc. & DON'T think MJ was a molester?
by avishai ini mean, c'mon, people.
seriously, i admire those who want to think the best.
but the guy had just about every red flag/indicator you can have.

I'm a former social worker and current lawyer, and I don't think he did it. But that's just my opinion. I think he was a troubled man, and I think he considered himself a kid on the same level as the kids he hung around. But I don't think he molested any. I think he liked kids so much because kids tend to have a certain "innocence", in the sense that most of them wouldn't care about his money or fame or influence. And there were probably very few adults in his life of which the same could be said. Again, this is just my opinion. I didn't personally know the man or the facts surrounding the case, so I can't say anything for sure either way. If I didn't have experience with juries, I would be shocked at the level of conviction of a lot of people here.
People are looking at this and making conclusions based on our NORMAL view of reality. Michael Jackson's reality was nothing like ours, and the reality of the judicial system is nothing like you see on TV or what you think it should be. On a daily basis, innocent peope plead guilty, innocent people settle, innocent people are convicted and put to death, and don't even get me started on district attorneys...
