Remember the song Make The Truth Your Own?
by pierogi inwhat is the wtbts exactly saying here because they don't let you make the truth your own?
besides nicknaming the religion "the truth", this is just another example of how the wtbts brainwash jws to think that the truth and the watchtower are the same thing.
i think this might be why jws, before hearing anything negative about the watchtower, already decide that it is false or they defend it.

Hi, everyone! I'm new to the forum. This is basically my story: Last year my parents disassociated because of many ideas JWs were supposed to believe with no exceptions plus the WTBTS hypocrasy. I actually learned about the Watchtower UN relationship from my parents. Also, my dad taught me how ridiculous the 607 destuction of Jerusalem date is. Before I stopped going to meetings for almost a year, I researched into the UN thing a lot. We all have read the latest press release from the UN, but I also got the UN to send me one they sent out the same year the Watchtower joined. On that one it also said the criteria. I showed it to my elders when they said that the Watchtower told them that they didn't know. Then I had an argument with them that if they didn't know about that first piece of criteria (supporting the UN charter), how come they knew about the other one where they have to send them sample articles of their literature. Guess what the elders said? They said, "Well, we send our literature to many different organizations. We probably sent literature to them, not knowing that we were fullfilling the requirements." I'm not joking and it's not even funny how far they go to defend the Watchtower. This is exactly what I was saying in my first post. Anyway I said that was ridiculous. The UN doesn't say you can send how much you want whenever you want, that there was a set number of articles for a set period of time. So this in itself turned me off, also considering that when I brought the whole UN thing up with an elder, he had never heard about it before. So that is a little bit about me.

What is the WTBTS exactly saying here because they don't let you make the truth your own? Besides nicknaming the religion "the truth", this is just another example of how the WTBTS brainwash JWs to think that the truth and the Watchtower are the same thing. I think this might be why JWs, before hearing anything negative about the Watchtower, already decide that it is false or they defend it. What I really hate is when I hear JWs say "they left God" when they're talking about apostates. Apostates don't necessarily leave god, but they leave the Watchtower. What JWs don't see is that many leave to be loyal to the truth, not the Watchtower.
What does everyone here think when you heard/hear the song Make The Truth Your Own play?

JW Children Lie in Custody Cases
by compound complex indirect and cross-examination questions in child custody cases.
wtb&ts, page 42.
"be careful that they [jw children being questioned] don't get the impression that they are in a demonstration at the circuit assembly, when they would show that the first things in life are service and going to the kingdom hall.

If I called bethel and asked for a CCB do you think they would give me one even though I haven't gone to the meetings in almost a year and have no children?

Shunned by the congregation for not performing
by truthseeker inas many of you know, i am a witness who still attends for the sake of my wife.
my meeting attendance has dropped to about 50% and i make maybe 1 hour a month in field service, although i report more than this to keep the elder's off my back.. after several months of this, the result has been noticeable.. those who used to be friendly and greet me no longer do so.
some even avoid me.

Hi Truthseeker, sorry about what's happening. I haven't gone to the kingdom hall in almost a year (other than a couple random times for the purpose of seeing how they'd treat me ). Well, I was in line at the store buying some food for the superbowl when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and it is a woman from the hall. This is what I hate (keep in mind that my parents dissasociated themselves last year). She asked how my little brother was, nobody else in my family, just my little brother. I have a tendency to not be mean to people, but I wish I said, "Actually, my whole family is great, thanks for asking." I will definitely say that next time.
So Truthseeker, are they treating your wife the same way? I swear I'll go to the kingdom hall after drinking a bit one day and say whatever is on my mind! (But try not to make it obvious that I'm drunk or I'll get couseled. Lol. Oh yeah, and if they ever want to talk to me after a meeting if I ever went again, I'm not talking in the back room!
But don't take it personally Truthseeker, they are so totally brainwashed and weird, it's not your fault.

First highlight and copy the section you want from the thread with the copy icon on your toolbar.
Then reply to the thread when the reply window is open click the thing that looks like a bubble from a comic strip on the toolbar.
A quote box will open, click in the box an then paste your quote with paste toolbar icon.
Thanks moomanchu

I'm new, I just registered today. I read this site every once in a while, but I decided to write a response under a letter to the org. Just one question: I've seen people quote other people in their posts and it's highlighted. How do you do that?

Letter to the Org
by sandy ini'm writing a letter to the org and i'm wondering what will happen if i send it.
i make no mention of the dates of the events that took place back in 1999. i just wrote that i am in active and stubled.
i also accuse the local elders and org of handling the situation wrong.

Oh sorry, 607 isn't what you wanted to write them about. I must have confused it with something else.

Hi Sandy.
I wrote a letter to the WBTS about the UN ordeal. Actually, an elder (the husband of a friend I told) told me to write down my question and he would help me find the answer. He assured me that there are no secrets in the organization. The funny thing is is that he never even heard about the UN thing. Anyway, (sorry if I'm rambling) my question turned into a letter. I showed it to the elder plus one more after a meeting. They read it and said that it was a good letter, but they didn't want to be a part of it. I asked why and they said that is a good question and never really gave me a good answer. They said that I could send it if I wanted to. I called bethel a week later asking if they got my letter and they looked me up and said that they already sent a response. It was weird because the guy I was talking to looked up my name and said that he thought he remembered reading my letter and he said that the response would answer my question and wouldn't be an automated response. So I was expecting to get a real letter in the mail. I told one of the elders that I called and what they told me. They said that they would be the ones to recieve the response. They told me to bring a notepad to take notes. I said, well I'll be able to read it, right? He said that it would depend on what they were instructed to do! I could go on and on about the conversation we had when they recieved the response, but it just gets me worked up. Definitely expect the elders to mediate between you the 'high and mighty'. I don't know, it may be different for you. The whole date of the destruction of Jerusalem is a really good question too. It just bothers me how the WBTS quote historians in the watchtower and book study books all the time, but then deny those same sources. They can't just pick and choose. I think that if what they say doesn't match up with historians, then they just need to revise their thinking. I think they know they are wrong, but they are not going to acknowledge it because without 607, there's no 1914.
