actually it's been so long that i had almost forgotten.
Can remember right now. But boy, what a huge waste of time! And to think, all those people that told me that I was controlled by men, and I was in a cult where right.
One brother in my cong got a dirty diaper thrown on his head by an upstairs window. Needless to say he did not like field service and he let everyone know it by leaving at 11:30 AM instead of 12 PM like most folks. I thought I was better than him.
is it that bad??
is it worse than fundamentalists of every other sort?
are jws worse than radical muslims?
All religion is a snare and a racket. The more controlling and fundamentalist the bigger the snare and racket.
if you got married while a witness... did any of the elders come to you and talk to you about the right and wrong sexual acts you can perform??

Nope. Then again, my dad was the PO and he didn't give me the birds and the bees talk when I got to puberty either. I was however, a really good Witness who really wanted to please Jehovah. So I did some researched and found some of the watchtower articles in the 70's that talked about what you couldn't do. I especially remember the one that starts off saying that no one should intrude or judge the private life of a couple and then went on to do just that. That set of an alarm in my head. I could understand no premarital sex, but I couldn't understand why other stuff was "dirty." I remember wondering if that was still current because I could not find any recent information 1990's on the subject. That set of another alarm in my head, because I thought, is it right just because they print something more current that says that it is now OK?
ok, other than my father, i don't miss anything about being a dub at all.
seriously, i love my life right now, its great, thinking for myself, doing what i want, etc., etc.. i've only been out 3 months, officially, and i find no "void" or anything.
i've got a bunch of great friends on the outside, that i had for years while being jw, and then i have my mother and all her family supporting me.
I didn't miss my friends either, cause I realized they weren't true friends. They were more like co-workers. The only void I felt was for my memories. I realized I had spent 26 years living a life that was not my own. I realized all the memories I had of hanging out with "friends" and milestones like pioneering and being appointed M.S. were all a bunch of refuse. That did make me a bit sad. But hey, I only lost 26 years and most of those I was too young to really know myself and what I wanted. As soon as I knew it wasn't me and it was a scam, I wasted no time in exiting. And for that, I am proud of myself.

I know exacty what you mean. I too was surprised at how happy I was once I left. It's because we've heard so many times at the meetings that those who leave have nothing that we are surprised to find the opposite is the case. I suffer from depression, and while I can't say that I was "cured" when I left, the bouts are not as deep or as long lasting.
Too many rules and regulations and policies and procedures and standards and practices to keep track of and feel guilty over when you fail to live up to their almost perfect standard. Right before I left, I realized that even if it was the only true religion I probably wasn't going to be all that happy in paradise or would last that long.
i am taking a speech class, and have to perform a motivational speech.
i was thinking about doing one on the pitfalls of religion.
the last speech i did was informational and i spoke of animals, etc.
Have you checked the Theocratic Ministry School book? You might get some ideas.

Your mid day black out very well could have been you experiencing your hypnotic trigger randomly.
Interesting idea, Para. That seems plausible to me.
So you continued to enter a hypnotic state while worried about demonic influence. To me that's the same as watching a scary movie before going to sleep. You would have been tainting your hypnotism/dreams respectively.
That is a valid point. I was aware I was doing it but couldn't help myself. You are right, I was bringing with me the preconceived idea that I was opening myself up to demonic influence. I wish I could rid myself of that idea and then do the hypnosis again. I wonder if it would yield different results.
this past weekend, we met a new couple in our campground, and the conversation soon came 'round to the supernatural.
the lady said she has had quite a few supernatural experiences, and that she plays her own home-made version of the ouija board.
my husband was all excited and begged her to play .
Thanks for this topic Delilah. I have one going on hypnosis and mostly all the people that have replied think it's nonsense to beleive that it is in any way related to demons.
I've never played with a ouija board. I do beleive in demons. Yeah, I think sometimes people move the pointer. Just like there are psychics out there that are phonies. But that doesn't mean we should dismiss it all as nonsense.

Maybe your vacuum has a medical condition.

You have had unexplained blackouts, but instead of consulting a doctor, you suspect demons. Now that is dangerous! You may have a serious medical condition!
I do not have a medical condition. Come on guys, give me a little credit here. I grew up in the Trooth, but I did go to college.
But now I know their is a medical explanation for it, and it is common.
According to what I read it is "common," but I couldn't really find an explanation for it. I found attempts at explanation. Nothing I would call a hard fact.
