  For those still in, what makes you feel like a witness and what doesn't?

  i've noticed when i exercise regularly i feel thin, regardless of my weight.

  this led me to think about how behavior, thoughts and feelings are tied together.

  so for those of you still in what activities or thoughts make you feel like a witness?

  I don't feel like a JW and I am not happy, but I have been doing thiis for so long I just have a feeling to keep on doing what I am doing.

  Interesting Conan... by "this" I assume you mean JW activities? So it's like you're on auto-pilot?

  Good for you for getting him to take it. Sounds to me like there's hope there. (He's not drinking ALL the Kool-aid.)

  I'm also going to try to get my JW family to take it. What's the big deal, it's just a survey.

  although i haven't been a witness for over 20 years, it has taken me that long to finally feel brave enough to join another church (aka christendom) and begin researching my past beliefs.

  all this research has opened a few old wounds, but mostly liberated me from a lot of quilt.

  staying a witness

  the other day i overheard a conversation about jws and somebody said jws don't celebrate birthdays.

  the other one said he has a few friends who are jws and while they don't celebrate their own birthdays, they do celebrate his.... then a thought crossed my mind: what if those of us who did not switch to another religion and have a somewhat non-jw lifestyle (not that hard) just keep saying we are jws?

  given that there should be more ex-jws than jws by now, how would that influence the public view of jws?.

  I think you're on to something here. It's about taking the power away from the leadership. Who says they get to define what a Jehovah's Witness does or does not do? It's like choosing to be a moderate JW. Who says you have to do everything the old geezers in Brooklyn say. It's like choosing not to DA even though you know it's a BS. It's changing the game on them and letting them know they're no longer in control.
