i just moved out from my parent's house.
I'm not saying I am questioning the Governing Body or their authority, it just seems like it doesn't make sense.
Right.
Many of us here believe that they mean well.
We also believe that they're confused and deluded.
If things really are as they say they are, surely there is no harm in examining opposing points of view.
That must be true, because that's what they encouraged us to tell the householders that claimed to be content with their religion.

word is spreading.. the elder that works with me told me that a ministerial servant in his congo asked him about the un scandal.. he confirmed to the brother that the watchtower was involved with the un but later disassociated itself and warned him that not all elders would handle his question so discreetly.. i doubt we'll see the cult disappear, but it's encouraging to see that many are waking up and are at least asking some difficult questions..

i use to read a lot of fiction as a teenager, but, gave it up.
i had enough to do rearing 7 kids and having to indulge in life to make the trade-off of time required to keep up with fiction.. now, there has come an author who has stopped me dead in my tracks and changed all that and his name is cormac mccarthy.. he is some kind of genius with quirky style and a bottomless vocabulary and a penchant for storytelling that won't let me escape.. i first heard of mccarthy by reading the literary critic, harold bloom.

while working on computers, i came across the term "daemon" - a server process that sits and waits for data requests - and it made me .
think about the origin of the word.

but i think that we are talking about not just one call from each person, but we are talking about spending a good length of time calling repeatedly.
othrwise it just won't have much of an impact.
Just a few thoughts. I'm just speaking for myself. When I call, I'm going to try to be very respectful. My goal is just to see if they will admit to being a NGO. If they deny it, I won't argue. I might say something like, "Thank you. It's hard to believe that Jehovah's Witnesses would actually join the UN." Then if they know they are lying or find out later, they can deal with their conscience as they wish. I'm sure that they get hundreds of crazy calls every day. I don't think it will do any harm if they start to get more calls from serious people with serious questions. I'm sure most people only build up the courage to call when they are really upset. This is a chance to call when we are more calm. Some may be more aggressive. I think that's OK. It's unlikely that we will tie up their phone lines or disturb their operations, but I would be happy to see this happen if it is caused by thoughtful callers.
I don't view this as a big battle, but as a small skirmish that will probe the enemy's strengths and weaknesses. I hope we will learn from this and adapt. Some of the objections may have more weight than I currently realise. I don't think this means we shouldn't try. A lot of people think this is a bad idea. Some of these are very active on this discussion board. That's fine. I think your efforts are valuable here and I don't think you should do something you don't want to do or think is counterproductive. I also know there are a lot of people who want to do something that's more direct and would like the plan to have some organisation and strength of numbers. This campaign has a suggested time and theme and both are optional. You can participate without any further planning or debate on it's efficiency. I appreciate the feedback, even if it's negative. I will try hard to avoid doing things in a way that is counter productive and I encourage others to do the same.

But IMO your comment shows a lot of reasonableness- a willingness to modify, or at least entertain the possibility of modifying, a plan or project based on the sincere input of others.
It's this kind of interaction that we were missing out on as Jehovah's Witnesses.

i don't want to be disrespectful or cause needless disputes, but there are some thoughts that have been bugging me.
i have to wonder why former members aren't doing more to combat the power of the watchtower society.
of course, i realise that some have made great contributions and others have to first make their own healing process a priority.

The main problem I have with the Jehovah's Witnesses viewpoint on Jesus is not that they believe he's Michael the Archangel, it's that they tell their members that it's a sin to worship Jesus and pray to him. I think this is where the major difference between Jehovah's Witnesses and Christianity lies.
