I do not have children, I have dogs... when they piss on the floor, which they know they aren't supposed to do, they get punished. I do not however, place them into a burning fiery pit as some think the Christin God does, nor do I kill them for this violation. They're dogs, they're going dog as Chris Rock says...
I can assure you, I wouldn't do this to my children either.
Christians always say something to the effect, "well you decided to break God's laws"...here's where the false premise starts... the Bible's not believable, period! I don't believe it contains God's laws becasue it's not convincing.
If God wrote this book of fairy tales, and then leaves no conclusive evidence other than the book itself as proof he wrote it, it leaves the reader with few conclusions. God is either the worst writer ever, or he's a liar, or he didn't write that book. If there is a God then I can't believe the first two things... so the third option is my only one.
So we weigh the evidence, we read stories like the whale that swallowed a man, the earth being only a few thousand years old, stories of talking snakes... and yes, finally, we read that this "loving" father will burn us in a fire, or kill us at Armageddon all because we didn't believe in a book he wrote so badly that it's clearly not believable.
I'll take my chances on this... I tell you now my friends, I fear this not one damned iota.

Is there a Christian message without the element of fear/perceived threat?
by nvrgnbk inso many christians highlight love and mercy as the main point of their religion.. that's undeniably appealing.. but is it true to christianity?.
in the end, isn't the belief all about escaping god's violent wrath?
aren't those that are unable to accept the system's contradictions and absurdities promised suffering and eventual destruction as punishment for their disbelief?.

The world seems colder
And my life still fades
The wine tastes sweeter
My life feels completer
Than my younger days
I thank the lord above
For those I've loved
And the hearts I've caved
Those hot summer nights
When the moon was bright
Oh the loved I've made
But Life is just a crazy dream
Don't get lost in the confusion
Live the life you're living now
It's all just an illusion
But I'd really like to know
Where I our spirits fly away? -

I'm happy form Maddie if that gives her some relief... she's one I consider a friend, and if this makes her day better, then so be it.
I do not think like her, and still think religion must be defeated, but I support any grown up in their decisions as long as they are hurting no one doing it.
I wish you the best Maddie -

I have an abused dog I got from a man who's washing machine I was repairing... that's what I do for a living now. I also have a dog I trained from birth, this dog behaves. Abused dog is in constant need of attention... I don't give it.. when she yelps and acts like a nut, I put her outside as punishment.
She gets better everyday, but she'll never behave like scruffy does. -

Do Paul's Letters Really Count?
by almostbitten inif there is anyone here with some heavy bible knowledge, i would like to throw this nugget up in the air.
in 2 timothy 3:16, paul reminds us that "all scripture is inspired of god and beneficial for teaching...." nwt (because that was the version that was sitting nearby).
my question is: did paul consider the personal letters he wrote to the various churches and to timothy, titus, and philemon as scripture?

Burns posted me saying..."Paul shouldn't be in the Bible"...
Burns replied...."Of course, we are going to take your raving anti-Christian opinion as authoritative on this".
You're right Burns... I really don't care what is in the Bible, I really don't know why I said that.
I think I was thinking about my days in the KH... sitting there reading the obvious differences between Paul and Jesus... but it really doesn't matter at all to me now, it's just interesting because I always thought Pail was the orginal apostate to Jesus' teachings.... LOL! -

I love this question... here's the facts the way I see them... Paul was a raging lunatic, he was known for murdering early Christians and for falling off a donkey while riding to Damascus after he was hit by a light.
Even though Acts says Christ chose him, it was referring to the white light while riding to Damascus, not to Paul having actually being chosen by Christ-Acts is referring to more of Paul's delusions. Paul didn't know Christ, never met him.. he was just murderous, delusional nut job that changed almost everything Christ taught.
Paul, is the JC Cannon of his day, a hearer of voices, a seer of imaginary white lights. How do we know Paul was chosen? He says he was of course.
Last, the Catholic Church can't be trusted for crap... Paul shouldn't be in the Bible... hes a whack job, plain and simple... and worse than that, he hated women. -

Do you find yourself kinda thinking conspiricy theorist are maybe correct?
by IreallydidwalkoutofaKH ini don't know if it is me or if it is becauce i was taught so much false teachings growing up, or maybe that the watch tower publications are about a 10th grade level and when i read a thoughtful article i want to believe it.
but boy, television media seems to present the public with truths the same way the watchtower presents its truth.
with 10 minute sound bites, never getting to deep and really not explaining very well the history of some of the subjects.just a thought!

"My own observation--the higher the rate of pot smoking, the higher the probability in buying into conspiracy theories".
Do tell my friend how you came to this conclusion, since I smoke daily and haven't fallen prey to not even one conspiracy theory... No one I hang with has such views?
and to the last poster... the "good men that run the WT organization"...????? Just kidding right? Maybe you need some pot.
White Dove-the way to find truth is to listen to all sides of an issue... have you watched any engineers explain the WTC destruction? If not, then I suggest you do before formulating your opinion.
