Since you on the right won't answer this question. Abortion
by dawg ini posed this question on another thread... namely burns and hooberus...wouldn't answer, so i thought i'd ask it again in an open thread..., .
you on the right disagree with roe v wade... so that means that you want to redefine when a zygote, embryo, or a fetus has what anyone would rule for lack of better words "the right to life"... .
exactly when is life, human as per your definition?

My guess... they won't touch my question, I'm guessing that wouldn't support such a law... But I really don't know as they won't answer that.

That was beautiful Chickpea... I hear what you're saying. Cells are just that in my mind... until they form a human, or at a bare minimum something that has even a slight resemblance to a human... until then, they are cells, and nothing more. To me....
But I understand why people feel different, they have a just cause... but to even consider the rule of a majority to decide anything is tyranny; I do not believe in democracies, I believe in Republics. I wouldn't want mob rule BTS... I know that's probably not what you meant when you talked about States making laws.
But do you believe that rape victims should be under a law that makes them have the pregnancy? I still haven't gotten an answer from anyone on that... I'm talking about a law here? -

As I said, I will not jump as I find the causes you defend noble, yet I find it hard to imagine that you'd not have a lady be able to take an "morning after" pill after she's been raped.
And, let me repeat, I can see the point of defending human life, but blystocysts are certainly not human beings in my mind, and I find it inconceivable that you'd call someone that wants to terminate the unwanted fertilization of her body by someone that has abused her, leaving the lasting reminder of this offense for the rest of her life....
Let me be specific, do you guys want a law that makes the person carry this fertilized egg? In other words morning after pills should be illegal?
BA, I'm not talking about capital offenses here, I agree that there are cases that warrant this type punishment. -

I appreciate your passion Lavender... but we all were once sperm and eggs too, they aren't humans at that stage either... just because eggs become fertilized by a sperm doesn't make them human at that point. They are in fact simply fertilized eggs.
As stated earlier, no one I know would be able to identify the clumps of cells we call blastocysts (day 5 of fertilization) as a "human"... they probebly wouldn't even know what they were looking at under the scope if no one told them.
I do not question the passions any of you have for wanting to defend life, in fact I find that noble... I'm very happy that I figured out how to not have babies a long time ago.... but find it hard to imagine that you who disagree would call folks murderers that see blastocysts as fertilized eggs and not human beings.
Murderers? Are you sure you feel that strong about this? -

Good question Lavender, I'd say its a group of cells that have been fertilized, the lumps of fertilized cells I've seen (blastocysts I believe it's defined) certainly look like numerous cells I've seen under a scope. If no one told me what it was, I'd of thought I was looking at skin and blood cells combined... I'd of never guessed it was even human...
Can someone post a photo of this for me, as I'm too computer illiterate to do so myself? -

I think we are arguing two different things, I really want to understand your views, when you say "life begins at conception" are you saying that a zygote is in fact a human being?
And again, I would appreciate it if you answered about rape and incest. I promise not to offend you when you answer. -

Mandette: Thanks, I think we share the same views.
Sooner... I'm not certain either...
BA, thanks for your comments.
BTS-I can see what you're saying, but it's a human at conception?
Satanus-Good point.
Frozen one- there are those that don't believe in condoms, they would take your right to make that decision.
I won't call anyone stupid or anything else when the subject in question is controversial... I used to study Microbiology when I first started college... my views are mostly from what I've seen in a microscope. My opinion is that zygotes are defiantly not human beings... but I can certainly see why someone would fight for what they consider human life-that is a noble cause even if I don't agree with how far many go.
In fact, this one of the few things I don't give the right shit over, because I find anyone standing up for something they believe in that can be argued outside of their faith, to be noble... defining the point a zygote/embryo is human in noble in my mind.
I've seen nut jobs on the left even argue that Roe V Wade is too liberal... that's extreme, and that draws my ire because its certainly an indefensible position...yet I can't say that I believe a zygote is a Human... not at all...
I'd like to ask although, why do you on the right not answer about rape and incest cases? -
