Ja Rule was right. his mother went to my Cong. before she got married and had him, so I know the folks that are responsible for his mom getting DFd, one of them is still a Dub according to her FB page, the others I think they're still in, but not 100 per cent sure

New video of interviews with Famous active and former Jehovah's Witnesses
by jwfacts ini have put together a mash up of active and former jehovah's witnesses, including a number of interesting interviews.. http://youtu.be/ozwvh57erro.
as a side note, i hope it does not get removed for copyright violation, as software automatically scans for pieces of music and i have already received some violation messages.
the video does comply with fair usage laws, as the music is relevant to the commentary..

JW CHILDREN GET PRESENTS ALL THROUGH THE YEAR. REALLY?????
by NAVYTOWN inis it really true that jw children get gifts 'all through the year', not just for christmas and birthdays like non- jw kids?
as stingy as most jws are, i find that very hard to believe.
plus the childhood magic of christmas and birthdays is totally absent in jw households.

That line about JDubs giving their kids presents throughout the year is just their comeback line when folks ask them about not celebrating Christmas. I'm just glad my dad wasn't in while I was growing up, I have fond memories of going to friends and relatives houses for dinner for the holidays and I did get gifts. I guess I'm one of the lucky born-ins.

JWs in Florida and California. Is there really a difference?
by BU2B ini have heard over the years from many different people about how jws in those states are unlike elsewhere.
the parties they have, the way they dress and the permissive attitude.
i just heard from a sister that is from florida, that if you are not "spiritually strong" you will "fall out of the truth" down there.

I grew up in da troof in NYC and could relate a few stories also, so, like the scripture my mother used to quote "the flesh is weak" no matter what part of the universe you live in.

Although i was a born in when I was growing up my dad was still a non believer, so at that time the wives were admonished to celebrate just for the hubby's sake, so although I never had a tree growing up, I had lots of presents and memories of going to friends (my parents were godparents to quite a number of kids) and relatives houses for the holidays. I'm so glad I have normal memories of the holidays.
For some reason, for the past ten or so years I've always made it a habit of watching Midnight Mass from St. Patrick's here in the city (NYC) don't know why I started that, but I'm definitely going to watch tonight.
Jolette, for some reason when I was in my 30's like you, I didn't give a rats ass about holidays, since my Bday is in December I look forward to it and the holidays as well. I"ll be doing a Champagne get together with friends, but I am cooking a special meal of leg of lamb and the sides just for me when I get home (Yeah, I know there will be food served at my friends' house) but I just like to cook so I always enjoy fixing something special. And since I get those Bday discount cards from the stores for my BDay, I use them as buying myself something special, or the holdays at a really good price.

They are Definitely Attacking "Higher Education"
by XBEHERE ina friend of mine recently had his co visit and in the elders meeting the co out-right asked the question: how are the friends doing in your cong.
as regards pursuing higher education?
the co continued...you know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers.

If the Borg is on the "no college kick" again, I just imagine a few of the kids I grew up with who are no in their 50's, giving their talks to the blind followers about pursuing their education. I shouldn't even mention age because most of the younger kids in the Cong who would now be pushing 40 the majority of that age group went to college as if it was the "13th grade" or something. Just shows they can never stick to their guns on anything, my peers strongly admonished not to pursue college, ten years later, nothing was wrong with it.

Something about Michealangelo's "artwork" doesn't look quite right to me, I guess the artist took artistic liberties on that one.

I've been trolling you with this Stand for Pure Worship nonsense. But its gotten old
EXTREMELY OLD AND SILLY AND PETTY AND MAKES YOU SOUND LIKE A STRAIGHT UP MENTAL PATIENT, or in other words a JW .
One of the dumbest, idiotic charades ever, carrying on like nobody knew who you were, go take another of your crazy drug cocktails you used to brag about and see if you come up with another name. What an idiot.

Someone who spordically posts here is the wife of someone whom my mother studied with when he was a child, my mom first started studying with his aunt and grandmother, then his mother, then a brother started studying with his father. I think we identified each other by the mentioning the location in NYC lived in while growing up.

Next week I'm busy getting ready for a worldly, apostate XMas celebration, maybe I might have time on Saturday to call Bethel, not sure yet. If I can't do it tomorrow I'm going to make it a point to call in the daytime, since the Bethelites will probably be out at there mtgs in the evenings, I don't want to hear "there's nobody here at the moment that can answer your call"
The guy that was talking to Kim on the phone, I can just imagine the look on his face, which I'm sure was the look this summer when I asked the Bro at the table set up if they were giving away Bibles. He went on to say that the App has five translations so you can cross reference and yada yada yada . . . , that's when I asked him how surprised I am at the app since more than ten years ago the Society admonished the flock to stay away from the internet, the smile on his face faded into a "how the Hell does she know"? Point blank told me he couldn't answer my question why the Society is now gung ho with the Internet and told me to pray Jehovah for that answer because he couldn't tell me, I must rememer to bring that up during my call.
