We used to have a sister conduct the book study, this was back in the early 1960's, since I was just a kid I don't remember how long she held that position. I remember the study was held in her house, or her mother's house I should say where she and her other two sisters still lived with their mom .

Sisters conducting meetings where there is a lack of brothers
by booker-t ini remember years ago when i was a little boy aroung 9 years old, our bookstudy conductor was in the hospital and at the last minute one of the elders asked my aunt to be the book study conductor.
this was the first time i have seen this happen.
my aunt did a very good job and the bookstudy acted as it was not something from outer space.

Did anyone ever rent a home or apartment from a "brother"?

i lived with my brother and then sister-in-law in an apartment building owned by a brother and his wife.. besides the fact that they would constantly enter the place while we were out, without any kind of advance notification, they would procrastinate whenever there was maintenance work that needed to be done.
sometimes it would take months before they would get to it.

A brothers (now an ex-brother) mother lived in a big home by herself and one of sisters in the Cong convinced her to rent a room to a guy who was studying, "he's so nice and he knows it's the truth" . . . . . Sorry to say this guy killed the brothers mother and he was found guilty and serving time.

How long before the Wt fully embraces the internet.
by joe134cd inthe way things are going i believe that wt will start encouraging its members to start setting up web sites.
i can certainly see them loosening their stand on it.
the example i will give is the video showing the dancing in the kh, and jw defender which i believe is wt in hiding.

Surprised that was able to take place in the KH
In my moms hall about ten years ago they had a talent show, but they rented a catering place, so I guess Jah was OK with the sisters taking out of their preaching work to practice for the show.
A few of the Congregations including the one I grew up in and the immediate area held a Reunion Dinner about ten or some years ago also, some folks who moved away even came back to attend. It was like the Dubs patting themselves on the back, couples that had been in for 20, 30 plus years were announced, as if you were at a Masons or Elks Dinner announcing the members who had been in the longest.

Good for you Flipper ! I like to bring up the blood fractions too when I feel like having fun with them at their table set-ups in the subway stations.
MY newest questions for them is JW.org, I tell them I remember when you were admonished to stay away from the internet, now look what you call yourselves, then I throw in how my relative in "da troof" always said there was ascripture that says not to be a part of the world or word to that effect. but looks like you guys gave in !

Yeah, she was. I remember reading that Ruth Buzzi and another member from Laugh In attended the services. Her mother was also injured in the fire but can't quite remember for sure, but it's possible that she succumbed to her injuries as well

What cable channel are you watching that on? I'm in NYC and that's not carried on Time Warner, just curious.
I remember when Ebony magazine did a story on her, I must say that she seemed like she was fully into it, nothing like the Williams sisters or Prince or even MJ, I believe she thought she would find everlasting life without writing a check to the GB.
