Pete - THanks for the example of a Special Committee, no different than what "the world" does when the JWs points there fingers at the other religions and their shortcomings, no difference at all, matter of fact, I think the JWs are worse since they knock on doors with their pompous attitude thinking they're the only true religion on the planet - SMH

The disappearance of the Special Committees
by Hecce inas a part of the wt judicial arrangement, for many years there was a sort of review procedure called special committee; basically if a person was not happy with a decision or a particular situation they were allowed to write a letter to the society raisin their concerns.. the majority of these complaints were answered with a standard letter with the counsel of “leave matters to jehovah”.
in some instances the matter was serious enough to warrant the need for a special investigation of the case to be done by a special committee.. at one time the travelling overseers were part of this arrangement; eventually they were dropped out of these cases due to the fact of their tremendous input on the decisions and also the implications when a wrong decision was reached.. the reason behind this procedure was that in matters that were really complicated it was not fair to make a decision based in letters and the clearest way was to have “boots on the ground”.
normally a group of local brothers, appointed for this duty heard the cases and make recommendations to the branch.

Article: Jehovah’s Witnesses Holds Women Back
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.fairobserver.com/region/europe/jehovahs-witnesses-women-religion-serena-williams-news-81664/.
by lydia segebrecht december 16, 2016. an open letter to serena williams about jehovah’s witnesses’ treatment of women.. dear serena,.
i want to start by applauding everything you said in your open letter that was reproduced on the guardian website last week.

Well, first of all, if Sister Serena was a faithful JW she wouldn't be a tennis player, she's be knocking on doors and sitting next to her cart every morning. I'm just guessing now not sure but, is anyone in her family baptized? Is her mother? I'm sure that dad of hers isn't. Someone answered the door at the Williams household a while back and they liked what they heard, agreed to study, started attending meetings for a while then got quite lax about it, but still calls the family religion JW. I have a feeling that sums it up for the Williams family experience as JWs

Do pregnant sisters wear the tight, formfitting dresses like those women of "the world" do?
by ShirleyW injust wondering about that as i was watching the news tonight with lester holt, the weatherperson was dylan dryer i believe her name is, who is also on the today show, she was wearing what pregnant women have been wearing for more than ten years now which is the formfitting style of maternity dress.
just wondering if the sisters in the hall are doing the same thing, because back in the day the old elderettes and female pioneers would have an earful to say about a pregnant women who doesn't wear the appropriate maternity wear, showing off that big belly and so on.
btw, i don't care for that style on pregnant women at all, too revealing to me, i don't have kids but couldn't imagine showing off a 30lb belly like that, seems a bit inappropriate to me, imho i guess i should add here..

I'm glad he set her straight about treating all clients the same.
Glad he also made her put up the Christmas decorations, did you ask him if she complained when he asked her to do that?

Elder wants to stop by with the CO for a visit .
by NikL inso i got a text from an elder who i consider one of the good guys and a friend in his own way.. he asked if he could bring the co by for a visit.
he said it would be "just a pleasant call and visit and will hopefully encourage my wife".
he says that "he knows she is dealing with a ton of pressure".. in all my years around the organization, i never had a visit from the circuit overseer.
-
ShirleyW
You know when the CO comes to town the Elders break out the list of the inactive ones, that's a "come back to Jehovah" visit. If your wife is still in she might've dropped a hint to pay you a visit.

JW Ideal candidates for Life Insurance?
by MNLifeAgent ini am not a jehovah's witness, although i do respect your religion entirely.
i am 27 years old, and live in minnesota.
i have an older cousin, who's mother (not with my uncle -separated when my cousin was a baby) had been a witness, grew up in your word, and about 12 years ago she fully converted.

Have to share a story about insurance and JWs that happened in my area of NYC that even made the newspapers about 20 years ago. Some brothers got together and formed there own insurance group and of course the brothers and sisters were their clients, and they ripped them off royally, as mentioned it even made the news here, a few of them were Elders and were disfellowshipped, but I don't think all the brothers that were associated with the insurance co were Dfd,

Soooooo, Twat doesn't have the same meaning in Scotland as it does in America since a Church includes the word in its name?

"While I love my two children very much, I feel today I should never have had them."

"a whole lot of the time, i just don't like being a mother, and i generally don't fit well into this role.".

I respectfully enjoy the comments of those here who are all "gung ho parenting", but, I'm sure they will even have to admit that it's not easy sailing, like I said in my first post, one of the most truest sayings of all time is "wait till you have children of your own". I don't have kids of my own (never wanted any and have no regrets), but have observed that to be true in my fifty plus year of life, the parenthood job just ain't that easy.
I have quite a few friends who have visited me at my home and the first they say is "wow, it's so quiet here". One couple who visit me frequently who have three grown children, walk in sit down and take a nap, no joke, they notice how quiet it is and just sit down and fall asleep for a quick nap every time they visit, notice I said there kids are grown, so they're in grandparent mode, but still enjoy a quiet home front and no, I'm not offended when they fall asleep and take a nap, I understand.
Another friend who is a divorced mom of two kids has said about my apt, "this is what I need, a place just for weekends to get some rest", sound familiar parents out there?
