I'd love to ask the brother that gave that talk a question, isn't there a scripture that says "no man knows the day nor hour"?

You're asking parents if they just skipped that page, back in the early 70's when I was junior high school age the Sunday Washtowel study was all about oral sex, I always say the first time I've ever heard of oral sex was at the Kingdom Hall.
How about all the little kids sitting there, then later on at home when they usually ask the kids what did you learn today at the meeting today, can you imagine being around that dinner table? Especially around those precocious five and six year old kids that every Cong usually has, can you imagine the questions? THe Borg had no shame discussing that for a whole hour, but god forbid you should see an R-rated movie or engage in sex before marriage.

A little rant about prayer
by BourneIdentity inis god responsible for every good thing that happens in your life?
i ask this because a brother gave a talk several weeks ago and said that.
he said when anything positive happens, we must not assume it was by mere coincidence, but we have to have 100% confidence that jehovah cares for us and was involved.. however, people complain that jehovah doesn’t answer their prayers and are told you have to keep asking, you need to show him you really want it bad.

Maria Nieves - mention this story because it sounds like the story that you mentioned. Coincidence?
I heard the story in my Cong (and the sister that it "supposedly" happened to was in the cong) back in the early 70's, when did you hear the story you shared? Seems like they keep the same BS stories just rolling along after all these years!!

This striking building from 1896 is currently still in use as a Kingdom Hall for a meeting for the Jehovah's Witnesses,The church still has the large stained glass windows on one side,I thought that was interesting ,when a R&F JW has any dealings whatsoever with any of Christendoms Churches how well does that go down ?
I don't know if it's still in use, but here in NYC in upper part of Manhattan, we used to have a Circuit Assembly mtgs in an old Jewish Synagogue and just about everything was in an "as is" state, the pews, wooden benches were still in place.

If someone was invited to the meeting and they were looking for the KH they would drive right by that medical office looking building, who would think such a boring box shaped bldg would be a house of worship?

"That night Jehovah sent a big wind and blew down lots of aerials and Richard have plenty work".
That's one of the best Dub stories I've heard yet, the Polish brother forget to add that since Jehovah is such a loving God he blew down the aerials of only the worldly people and not any JWs.

They pray about feeling too sick to go shopping and then Jehovah sends them a friend with groceries.
Reminds me of a story back in the 70's when a young sister in our cong went to help where "the need was great", she and her roommates were down to their last dollar and couldn't decide to get gas for the car to go to the mtg of course or buy food, they went to the mtg, so of course the next day guess what appeared on their porch, a basket full of food !! Funny thing is, somebody here posted a story like this a while ago too, so either they know this sister or one of her roommates or the story is one of those JW fantasy (as in false story, a lie) blessings.

Advice on Disassociating
by HiddenPimo inhello my exjw/pimo/pomo friends,.
i am working on penning my da letter and wondered if i should use it as a tool to maybe wake up individuals as the boe will have to read it.. anyone have any advice on what i should say versus what i should leave out?
i am not going to fade as my family can either be loyal to blood or loyal to a man made religion.

This thread brings back a memory from the early 70's in my cong, a brother wrote a letter basically saying he didn't want to be a Dub anymore, but I remember at the mtg they read the letter, I have no idea if he just wrote a few sentences which is what they read at the meeting or if he told them all to kiss his ass in the letter, but I do remember them reading it at the end of the mtg like they do when they DF people, I have a feeling that was just a one time thing and all the DA letters or probably thrown in the trash, or thrown in the old' Dub file which you really don't care about at this point if you wrote a letter saying you no longer believe the lie.

I don't get the idea of writing a letter unless you really want to tell off the elders or something and tell them what pompous jackasses they are but why not just stop going to the mtgs and when they come knocking on your door say you've made your decision, maybe go into a brief description as to why and that's all they get.

I Ended my Bible Study
by Maria Nieves ini ended my bible study today.
several months ago, i began to feel that the truth was not the truth.
as the months progressed, my feelings intensified.

Smart move Maria !
The study will be out of your mind in no time, glad you noticed it was a cult, not associating with others that don't belong, does that sound like something a loving God would do, of course not !!
Forget them and get on with your life and if they contact you again (and they probably will) to see why you stopped or if you want to start up again say NO !! and please don't bother you again !!
