I know of one my peers when I was going to the KH who got DFd as fairly young adult, but is not a Seventh Day Adventist, they're almost as bad as the Dubs as don't do this and all that, but as long as she's happy. But I just don't get leaving the Dubs and moving into a religion like that, I've read that some folks who grow up in that religion weren't allowed to listen to music on the radio and some of the girls weren't even allowed to wear pants!

Getting disfellowshipped to marry and return
by confused ini was just wondering if there is any official rules on dealing with this.
a sister in the congregation is planning to divorce her husband who is also a witness so she can marry a different brother in the same hall!

I remember a situation like this way back in the 70's. A pioneer sister and an elder were having an affair, he conducted the watchtower on a Sunday and the letter was read that Thursday at their meeting about the both of them being DFd. They were both married, they got divorced and married and were reinstated.

THe only brother in our cong that was anointed when I was growing up has left da troof, he lives not to far from me now and he said he and his wife realized that things just don't add up to what is actually in the Bible, Those are the same words a brother who was an elder when I was growing up and one of the first to get my dad interested in the da troof also walked away saying just about the same thing the other brother from my cong did, plus the fact they both say the same thing about that 607 stuff, it's a bunch of crap, totally made up, makes no sense whatsoever.

Holiday field service
by All or nothing intoday is 4th of july in my part of the world- the us- and i was reflecting how we were strongly encouraged when we were still in to go out in the ministry on holidays.
i just mentioned this memory to my husband and we reflected on how cult like this was.
anyone else have thoughts on this?

July 4 th Independence Day... Do You Know Any Witnesses That Celebrated?
by minimus ini knew of a ministerial servant that was called out because he used fire crackers on the 4 th of july.
we had to have an emergency meeting as to his qualifications.
i remember imploring the body to not make a big issue over this and it was decided to just “counsel” him about being involved in a patriotic holiday.🤨.

Anyone drop out of high school or not focus on grades becuase the end was near

my uncle offed me a job and the end was only a few years away.
my mother even though she was dyed in the wool at the time said she would only go along with it if i took a correspondence course out of american correspondence school out of chicago.

Pete - I graduated in 1975 too, the year that was supposedly to be our last on earth, and here we all are, as they still preach the end is just around the corner. It just doesn't add up, as my mother always said, "use the brain that Jehovah gave you", appears that none of Jehovah's happy people don't do that or they would see that they've been preaching that the end is almost here just about since the JWs first started, how do folks buy into that stuff without realizing their message hasn't changed for decades and decades?

they are rappers, and ja rule's mother was a jw.
she is now disfellowshipped, and ja rule said that he stopped attending the hall around age 11. he was never baptized, and has stated that he hates the religion.

I knew Jah Rule before his was born, his mom and her family used to go to my KH.
His dad was a JW,but he died almost ten years ago, after they separated he got mixed up with the wrong crowd after he left da troof.
When I was cleaning out my mothers house I found the pic from their wedding, the little one that they send out with their thank you cards for the gifts.

There's nothing to watch on TV anymore ???
by RubaDub indo you find yourself, as i sometimes do, skimming through channels on the tv remote and not finding anything interesting to watch?.
growing up, we only had four channels on our tv (nbc, cbs, abc and pbs).
and yet there always seemed to be something of interest to see.. sadly, i often find myself watching shows where some guys are auctioning off storage lockers, killing alligators, picking junk from peoples' garages or barns, catching tuna, towing cars, driving trucks on the ice, catching crabs, running pawn shops ... etc etc etc.

Well, I have another 30 day free Netflix trial, so I'm trying to cram everything in this time around before July 6 when it expires, they have a lot of good things and lots of variety. I don't know your age, but I remember TV shows from the 1960's, so there are certain channels that show reruns from the 60's and before they are my main focus.
