i don't think i am an apostate, but do feel like one for being on these boards as we were always warned not to at the meetings etc.. i disagree with so many things they teach, the main thing is the blood issue....being a new auntie, i love my niece soooo much and if i were the only person that could save her, how on earth could i not?

that in my books, would be murder.. however, may be it's because i've only been away from the mtgs for a year, but i still think of it most days and although i feel i've made the right decision as nothing was making me happy in it, and obvioulsy my ex beating me and getting away with it.....i still feel a certain pull towards it and a kind of insane loyalty???.
These boards are fab. It's so good to know we're not on our own and have all been through the same feelings and most importantly......there is light at the end of the tunnel!
So true....having years and years of things being ingrained into your head proves a harder task to forget them and move on. However, I know I don't want the JW religion, so I just have to move on and forget about it!

Yeh I guess so, I've been going since I can remember. I think only over a period of about 4 months did I go for myself and because I belived it and 'made the truth my own'. Out of 22 years, that's pretty poor.
When I think of assemblies and singing the baptism song, it always used to make me well up and feel so happy that we were all united. But now, I actually think, how many people were actually truly happy with their lives and were they just going through the motions like me???
I'd hate for anyone to go through what I did and I just hope they eventually see they can be happier if they break free.

my sister and i were raised in the "truth", by our mother alone, working for minimum wage.
as a young child, i remember being give a dollar or two every week to put in the contribution box at the kh, my mother was making $40 to $60 a week and gave that cult $2, plus the gas for fs, plus the cost of books and magazines.
we had 6 6' tall bookcases all full of the watchtower and awake annual volumes, back to the 50's or 40's, plus every book the wtbts ever published.

It's so so true what you are all saying...I do have the rest of my life ahead of me and I do hope things get easier. Itg's just going from loads of friends where I always had things to do, to having no one is what I find hard....think maybne a regular salas class is calling!!! :o)

I come down every three weeks roughly. Course I don't mind the kids in tow.....a lolly pop should sort them out??!!! ;o)
In the summer we could take them to the beach...I'm a big kid and would love any excuse to build sandcastles....lol x

OMG nvrgnbk, that's awful - I'm glad I got divorced. Who knows what's around the next corner, rather out now then when i'm six feet under! Thanks for that posting, made me feel better about my decision.
Dobbie - Hmmm, Yaunon, I'll find out how far that is. I don't have a car right now, but if it's not that far, we could meet half way or something!

No one knows about my bf, I know it's going to come out sooner or later, but for now, I'm happy to make my ex suffer like he did me. I'm such a cow!!!

As some of you may know, I've just got my divorce through. Well......I was told by 2 elders last week (I had to have a kind of judicial) that my grounds for divorce were not sufficient. It's unbelievable, I've not been to the mtgs in 10 months and no one has tried to help me, yet my ex - who beat me, has got a fantastic reputation and is 'doing really well'. While I've been left to start my life over again. Thank goodness for not having any kids and still being so young I can rebuild my life.
Sorry to moan guys, it's just I don't really have anyone else to talk to as all my friends were in the 'truth'. I'm finding it pretty hard in this big wide world...but one thing is for sure....I know I definitly do not want to return to the mtgs!!!!
Has anyone got any advice for me on how to make friends etc...I sound really sad don't I??!! Gosh, 22 and no mates...sad!!!
